Nightline, did you pay the fiver for the courier?they didn't deliver till 5:00 for me yesterday.

I paid the standard €2. I thought the fiver would get you it a day early and standard on release day. Said to myself I could wait till Friday. I'll be cursing my tightness it seems :pac:

Oh well, guess I'll keep at Assassin's creed. Still have brotherhood to finish.

The game is now finally live :D

Here was a benchmark screenie - manged to add some more settings without taking a big performance hit - looks and plays very smoothly.

    <pic>
A note on this. After flicking through the Digital Foundry article on this, it seems they've used some pretty hefty super sampling techniques on top of FXAA for anti-aliasing. Seems those without a decent machine would be advised not to stray above normal if you're running at high resolutions.
I came out of the game to post this but now my game is downloading something else - a 1.2GB file - but have no idea what it is - total size over 10GB now!
That'd be the high res texture pack.

Same boat as you, though I'm actually happy it didn't come today since I've exams to study for. :)

On the upside, that package I was waiting for from Germany arrived this morning bright and early. All these microphones and cables are SO SHINY! :D:D

They really should have put the games out to delivery a day earlier. I only got my delivery notice yesterday, making it fairly unlikely I'm going to get it today, unless it comes in the last van. Kicking myself that I didn't just get a digital copy like everyone else

Just played the first hour and so far I'm loving it.

The setting is a lot of fun and just running round the city doing odd jobs is great.

The Combat also makes you feel like a badass :p

Just one thing though.... has anyone had jumpiness when driving ?
I'm playing the Pc version and i can't figure out if my settings are to high or if its normal...

Yeah this is very true. I tried raising this to high and while it was still playable on my original settings, you did notice a massive hit. Shadow filtering also causes a big hit for me.

    It's not though.

That is over 4GB and I had that downloaded before and was already using it. It was an additional 1.2GB on top of that. Thought maybe it may have been some DLC but it doesn't seem to be :(

If your noticing jumpiness when you reach top speed in your vehicle then thats normal but if your noticing it normally I'd say some setting is too high probably AA.

Enjoying it so far, The driving handling isn't the best but the main worry is that I got an achievement for 10% completion and have only played an hour or so. Could be very short for an open world game.

No its just when driving..... It runs 100% smooth everywhere else.

Looks like it was an update:
    Sleeping Dogs Update Released
    Product Update - Valve
Sleeping Dogs version 1.3 update tonight!
In anticipation of the European launch of Sleeping Dogs and in response to some of the feedback generated by the PC gamers on the forum we’ve prepared a patch that aims to improve some PC-specific features as well as fix some bugs that have been reported by the community. The full list of changes is below:

    Improvements & Bug Fixes
    • Fixed several bugs where NPCs would not path through doors properly – this corrects the issue where Naz stops running in the first mission of the game
    • Added HD Textures for UI screens (only available with the free HD Texture Pack DLC installed)
    • Improvements made to reduce the frequency of erroneous “don’t lose your target” warnings in missions where you are chasing an NPC
    • Significant improvements to mouse support on various options screens
    • New Keyboard/Mouse option which makes the keyboard & mouse the only input devices even if a controller is connected
    • Several minor text bugs corrected
    • Fixed an issue where mouse clicks would sometimes be ignored in the UI
    • Fixed the keyboard and mouse camera controls in the Phone Tracing minigame

But is it all the time when your driving or when your going fast?

Trying reducing something and test it... I'm not having the same issue so looks like its a setting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,752 ✭✭✭Mr Blobby

    No only when going fast.

Yeah that normal, happens to me too. It trying to portray a sense of speed!
It's a bit broken though and shakes too much so hopefully may be fixed.

There are a few complaints about it on the official forums and steam forum.

1st step.... Remove Tank top to look more Badass :D

I wasn't happy with the combat. You just need to learn the different opponents and how to attack them using different combos and grapples. I died quite a few times in my early fights but now since I've learnt how to fight, I've actually won two fight clubs (the 6th rounds are crazy v 10 people).

I'm also using a 360 controller and works wonders... makes driving and fighting so much easier for me (shooting also quite manageable).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

I dont have a controller its a pain in the backside tbh, controlling cars is easier than moving around on foot =/

Anyone know an easy way to get a ps3 controller working on a pc ?

What a game! Having a blast tearing around the city. Fighting is way more challenging than the earlier vids showed and im learning class moves. The graphics in the rain are unreal.

Anyone having problems on the social club? Says im the only person on my friends list but I saw other people on my list playing it.

I remember when it started raining for the first time.
    I thought it looked amazing.....

Then I continued beating the crap out of the guy beside me. :D

I actually hated the cars at the beginning but then i got some Class B cars and now I 'm actually looking out for races to test my driving. Love drifting perfectly around a bend in the rain! Also Class A cars go fricking mental fast!.

Also I used to used to hate chase missions in GTA as too hard to shoot and drive etc but in this game they are actually fun though its quite tricky to press, LT, RB and LB to drive, aim and shoot :p

Also sheehy83 my social club is working fine, thought it was broken but one of my friends just bought and hes showing up on the challenges. Maybe it needs a restart? Does the global list work for you?

Feck sake. Went to Xtravision earlier to get this and they didn't have it.

They had the cases out on display, but when I went to the counter I was told they won't have it until next week but ''they have to leave the cases on display.''

    Why?! It's teasing people!

Those pics are class man. Ya the global list works on my social hub, will try again this morning. I love the driving. I think they nailed it. Camera on the bikes can b wonky but driving those super bikes is a great laugh. Pulling a wheelie to ramp over cars is class too.

Ah feck was going in today to pick it up :(, is this game really that much under the radar mainstream wise? I just assumed because it is all over the internets there was a decent amount of interest. If you find it anywhere let me know.

Thought I saw Wei using a garage in one of the GP demos...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,932 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I didn't even shoot a pistol yet, only 12% of the game completed. Whats everyones favourite combat moves?

I find myself going for the grapple and leg break making all the guys around wince. That and the class wall vault although it can get a bit glitchy. Anyone who hasn;t tried it, in a fight press x facing a wall and then press square to kick off it to do a mad spinning kick.

But with GTA you can keep cars you steal. Part of what I like about free-roam games like that is finding a rare car and storing it in my Garage and taking out for a leisurely cruise now and then.

But I guess I'll live without it.

Only weapon I've used so far is a tire iron, and that was to destroy a car. Love the fact they made Wei a weapon himself. Some of the moves are brutal, like the jump off the wall spin kick. Which is class by the way :D
