I quite like the MP5, you'll spray a bit more with it due to its recoil (and you won't be sniping cross map a la the MP7) but I rarely lose one on ones with it, puts a fair whack of lead downwind quickly. Just after hitting 9th prestige so will be using it again up to 500 kills, might try it with stability and silencer once I've it leveled up.

I thought the ump was class first time I used it compared to the mp5 which just sprayed everywhere, but looking at it's stats it falls down really badly at long range (damage is reduced by nearly 66%!) and at short range where it's slow rate of fire impedes it. I watched a stream of a guy using the mp5 (admittedly on the pc) and it really benefits from steady aim pro (which impairs you in some ways) he just ran around Dome hip-firing with rapid fire and was destroying the opposition, rarely bothering to using the sights.

The slightly higher extra damage of the ump over other smgs isn't enough to give it a 2 hit kill (providing no headshots) so normally you require 3 bullets to kill. As such you're losing out to faster firing smgs up close such as the pp90 or pm9 or more accurate long range ones such as the mp7 which also has a lot less recoil than the ump. It's not got one attribute (apart from reload time) where its clearly superior to the other smgs, having a faster reload time is only useful if you're expending your ammo and not losing out to other guns.

Nah it's not uzi bad or anything like that, but I think many like myself are just underwhelmed with it. I was hoping for CoD4 MP5 except maybe with a slightly different (upgraded) look if anything, that's what I thought they (IW) were going to do based on comments pre-release.

I dont see why people always say if ya want gun on gun gameplay play cod4, sure stick in black ops

put it on last night and had serious enjoyment, nearly felt like bf3 the size of the maps compared to mw3. Played hurrendously mind you but sure once your enjoying the game who cares

Particularly for consoles, cause you can do barebones(You still can right?) on blops which is just pure gun on gun, really fun ! CoD4 is constant airsupport (not as bad as MW2/3 but i'd put it on par with normal BLOPS because of the whole stacking ****e) and huge amount of grenades..

ION - Its a pity you can't delete certain maps in a cod game, or unselect them when you search. Or pick what map you want to play on like battlefield. Most of the maps are depressing to look at.

I like the way everyones coming back to it now. The only reason I've been playing mw3 at all is for clips for daves montage. Blops is just more fun hands down

I went back playing the double XP weekend just to get my L96 back and I fell in love with the game all over again. The only thing I like about MW3 is infected. The rest of the game is full of so much needless rubbish.

Dave's montage is driving me 'round the bend :pac: trying to get clips for it and I'm just sucking more and more each day. Given up at this stage. No doubt I'll get a 6 man sniper feed on Black Ops with a quad collateral headshot.

Don't go actively looking for clips, 1. especially if you've a playstyle like me, and 2. it'll take years off of your life.

UMP seems not as useful to me as the pp90.
Do most of you guys just not use red dot sights? Would you run focus and rapid fire or attachments with sight and rapid fire on small maps with SMGs?

Incidentally Blops seemed just as hated in here as MW3 back when it was the dominant game.

With SMGs I use rapid fire or extended mags, never a red dot sight.

For smgs I generally use Sleigh of Hand yeah, Extreme con sometimes.
UMP I use Kick with as it has some recoil, MP7/PP90 I use range.

MP7 is the only one I'd use a silencer on too.

I think the CoD cycle goes as such:

Current game = hated.
Last game = liked.
Next game = hyped.

Wash, rinse (optional) and repeat.

I've always thought blops was better...

Only play MW3 coz it is nice to mix it up.. plus, when there is no1 else on I'll almost always go for the play in a party option..

I hated on Blops for being boring when I played it, in hindsight with Mw3 it's far funner and balanced.

arrrrgh, ffs IW fix the voice volume issue on the ps3, even if you have turned all the way down on options it STILL plays peoples voices, playing infected there and the entire lobby was full of kids and people blaring music, its fcuking headwrecking muting everyone

Magill was cracking the whip on me like no tomorrow. One time in Hanoi I was going for a care pack clip, 4 lads on B and someone got a quad nade, convinced I would have at least gotten 3

Obviously needs a more detailed look but from the pic, but it looks like two teams a lot of the time will be camping in both buildings across from each other too worried about getting killed. Could be wrong and there are more routes. At least with Highrise you were able to go underground, and even to this day majority of players rarely ever use that route :pac:

edit - just saw the vid in the MW3 News thread, looks like another cluster**** of a map lol.

Think everyones had a hissyfit at some stage in blops in fairness. From Lees montage clip madness..to people nearly crying when their steaks were ended.

Having rapid fire & extended mags means you don't have to rely on soh as your first perk .
I never use a red dot on an smg .

Fallen, Bakarra, Village, Outpost, Mission and Interchange are all equally as bad. Its incredible how many unplayable, unworkable, badly designed maps there are.

Obviously it's subjective. I like Fallen, Village, Mission and Interchange. I don't like Outpost and I hate Bakarra. I've only played Downturn a few times as it's always skipped but from why I've played I didn't like it

Really.. I quit like Bakarra/fallen but Bakarra can be frustrating sometimes alright! Mission I think is deadly..

Initially didn't like interchange but its defo grown on me..

Outpost is a really bad.. just messy.. but Downturn is defo the worst map I've played.. Cant stand it at all..

All just opinion really aint it.

Bakaara is one of my least favourite maps too. I don't get why it's picked so often. It's the same thing over and over (maybe only in Dom). You cap B and then people just snipe down the road of B or if they want to go crazy and mix things up they'll snipe down towards the helicopter.

Another Downturn hater here, godawful map, my favourite map is Lockdown, its a great domination map. Village is ok, one of the few maps air support works on,Arkaden and Hardhat are fun too, the rest are terrible to meh, hate seatown and outpost

Downturn is terrible but not as bad as Outpost. Hardhat and Dome are my two favs. All the other maps are pretty bad too but playable

Dome is the Summit of MW3, I love it! Few too many campy spots like the hall at B Dom and outside the Dome C side, but overall a great map

Fave map ever is Terminal, if that appears in a content drop I'll be happy as fcuk. for all its faults MW2 had some superb maps, Terminal, Afghan, Higrise, Wasteland (has its haters but I loved it) Skidrow,Rust was a hoot the rare times it appeared. and all the others were good, maps I wasnt a big fan of were Karachi, Derail and a couple of the dlc ones, but I'd still play on them, if I see downturn or outpost appearing I just exit the lobby.
