Whatsapp is the best app ever for staying in touch. It's on Android, blackberry and apple and you don't need to have the app running to recieve notifications. It also let's you send photos, videos and sounds.

My favourite app at the moment...

Think it does it depends on your mobile provider. Think o2 and VF allow webtexts to foreign numbers.

Allows you to type messages. Same as text messages but with better interface... Other user needs to have the app too

I don't know what kakautalk is so I can't answer that...

But if you knew of an existing messenger app, why ask the original question? Or are you looking for an app that will give you free international texts? Confussed...

Free international texts. Problem is most of my friends dont have that app, dont have internet access or dont have a smart phone. Im just looking for an app like cabage but that can send texts to international numbers.

only way to get around that is to change operators or else sign up for an account with someone like smsdiscount. quite a few of those providers are supported by cabbage.

    i use fishtext.
use websms app along with the fishtext connector.
its not free but very cheap , 1p a text anywhere in the world for me.
other user doesnt need app and the texts are sent from my mobile number.
worth checking the connectors that the websms service has , maybe something there would be suitable for you.
search for websms and then go to developers other apps and a good list of connectors there

Cabbage does that, once you have the app the other person doesnt need it. I sent international to OZ daily and the brother has a real old nokia and gets them.

Or is the issue you want something that your friends, rather than you can use for int texts ?

I think that cabbage only does that if your network provider allow international webtexts as Vodafone and O2 do, but will not work if you network provider doesn't which is the poster's problem as they're on Meteor

I know this probably isn't the answer as you were saying that WhatsApp wouldn't work, but Viber is available for Wildfire now, although it may not work perfectly

Not sure if they've bee mentioned, but I've been enjoying Game Dev Story and Grand Prix story.
Great little charm packed simulation games. Very 16 bit, in the best possible way.

Does anyone know of an app that works like the power widget in the notification area built into the samsung galaxy s. CM7 has one built in but it looks crap compared to the one on the samsung and ginger stir fry doesn't seem to have any.

If you long press down on the home screen it opens up a menu. One of the menus there is "Widgets" and you can select the power widget from that and it will appear on your home screen. You don't need to install .
Not sure it thats what you're looking for but in case it is... I'm throwing that out there.

I think he meant something more like Notification Toggle. I'm not recommending that though, but I am also interested if anyone can suggest something better.

Ahhh. Thanks for that. I tried this app and I quite like it. It's not perfect but it's doing what I need it to ,like toggle wifi etc without having to return to the home screen everytime. Good find Adyx .:)

I tried that for a while but on gingerbread you can't toggle from the notifications windows, it has to open a pop up window to do it which is a pity.

That happened to me too on froyo, but I found using the individual toggles rather than the All in one let me toggle from the toggle bar. In the end I found I preferred the standard power widget anyway though.

I'm trying to get my hands on ESPN GOALS app which is free but it won't let me install it as the 'not available in Ireland' message comes up, is there anyway around this?
It shows all the goals from 5.15pm onwards on Saturdays.

Did you try and google the apk and then when you find it transfer the apk to your memory card and install it with a file manager? Or alternatively (I think your phone has to be rooted) download market enabler and set your device id location to whatever country the app is available in and then it should appear in the market. Generally speaking market enabler is a handy tool to have to get apps that aren't available in Ireland yet. ESPN might also restrict the viewing of the goals from an Irish Internet Provider, so keep that mind if it doesn't work once you find it.

I was trying to find this aswell.couldn't find it at all on the market so downloaded from getjar.com but when opened it said it needed a subscription to view video.
Think its last years app, although its showing this years fixtures.fone not rooted so if can't get it without rooting will wait to see if it works in Ireland then root if it does.

Phone is not rooted so i i'll miss out on this, i also reckon you're right griffdaddy and it's restricted to to an Irish provider.
