It's great to get all the feedback.
It was great to see it acted upon. Thanks.
Almost 300 people ran without numbers. It was gas listening to all the excuses. "My number blew away" and so did the pins, I presume. "I forgot to bring it".
What is your action in these cases?
We also had a lot of world records with some people taking just 2 minutes to run 5 miles. Needless to say, they will be withdrawn from the results.
Did these people cross the start mat and run the final 400m to the finish?

Also, the results list ~4400 finishers. The news article said that 6000 entered. Did 1600 really not turn up? Or how many didn't finish?

In fairness, its pretty easy to forget your number. I have done it myself sometimes.

Nope, all our regular photographers were running today. I believe stupid private had some snappers filling in for him but he's slacking and hasn't put em on racepix yet. :D There should be some on sportsfile by now.

I was in no fit state to do any work related stuff yesterday.

I logged onto RacePix365.com yesterday evening to leave an update there and found it funny that a couple of pictures had been uploaded by someone... all of me! So everyone who has been going to the site for the past while have been getting to see my race face. Lovely!

I'm fueled with coffee now and going to get started on the picture uploading

thanks Hard Worker for the organisation of the run yesterday

really enjoyed my first 10 miler and clocked in at 1:21 which im delighted with since i was aiming for between 80 - 90 min

only complaint is the blister on my left foot and my right nibble being a little tender today :)

Think i enjoyed the race more than the 5 mile.

Got home to discover no T-Shirt in my Bag. Did anyone else have the same problem? i never thought to check.

1:14 my pb so very happy

Just got in at 1.15 and pleased with that. Then went home and slept for 4 hours.... thats right 4...

Proof that I did as well as I could.

Legs still feel so tired today!

After the 5 mile I couldn't walk properly for 2 days!! But today I'm fine and I put in so much more effort! I stretched all day yesterday, and went swim/sauna/jacuzzi afterwards. I prob did waaay too much stretching, as a result of obviously not doing enough first time round!!

Wish I could say the same. I forgot to do a cool down jog and as a result I can hardly walk.

I'd imagine they ran over the mat just over 5 miles on Chesterfield road(the one that was at the actual start line) then just turned right onto the Furze road to the finish line instead of doing their second lap.

You know, I was thinking of doing the same , haha.... it was awful to see the 7 mile marker after only 2 miles!! And the 9 mile marker after only 4!!!!

But whats the point in doing it if you can't even be bothered to do it properly.

@RainbowKirby okay you have convinced me to do the Half Marathon

That was me after 5 mile. I got out of bed the day after, and fell straight onto the floor. It was funny at first but that being my first run I had no idea how bad it was to get when I was left that way for 2 days. So I was really worried about that this time, particularly as I have to work tomorrow!! Honestly the last time I looked like John Wayne!!

There was a help desk there for genuine cases.
For those who competed without a number: once they crossed the finish line, they were asked to leave the finish area through an open barrier at the side. It was important that they didn't avail of the finishers t-shirt.

63'40". Well pleased with that as I was going for McMillan's prediction of 64'16".
Great run, I'd be a lot happier today if I'd managed something similar. Still, the legs felt fine today, so I think it's just the faster pace I'm struggling with.
I brought my own drinks so no problems with cups - as someone who has helped out on water stations in the past bottles would be easier to hand out, but the clean-up would be horrendous. Also, imagine what would happen if lots of full bottles got dropped in the crowd.... I know they give them out in the marathon but there's a lot more space there.
Hardworker, thanks for the great organisation. Any word on the guy who was carted off in the ambulance?

So was I, I found yesterday, particularly the first lap to be really tough mentally.

Thanks aero. I was very behaved all week coming up to the race so the effort seemed to have paid off. I was conscious of your own efforts on the day. Saw a guy in a Boards top with a blue head band, wouldn't have been yourself by any chance ?, if it was we were very similar most of the way around.

And of course a big thank you to Hard Worker and all the crew. Those pens worked a treat ;)

Out today in my new 10 miler top, saw one other as well, tres chic.

Were you in the park? I went out in mine and saw one.

My OH was waiting for me, and he said that everyone was saying the same. I'm actually glad to hear that because I finished in a poorer time than I was expecting. But apparently alot of people found it a tough one, whether it was mentally or physically.

However, the weather worked out wonderfully.

No, though I could have done with a headband. When the rain started it washed the sweat into my eyes and I ran blind for a while. I did see a guy ahead in what looked like a boards.ie singlet and black shorts (you perhaps) - when he passed me I kept up for a while but this was before halfway and I let him go as I felt the pace was a little too quick, and I was conscious of the hills to come. Maybe I should have risked it...

    Hi guys,

Quick question - should i go for a little jog today, or should i leave it till tomorrow? I feel okay after yesterday, but I'm not sure if i should leave the ol legs for a day or two.

    Can anyone advise me?

    Thanks

The blue head band was earlyevening. I tried to let a roar at you Rusty with about 200 to go, brilliant time. I would like to repeat what everyone else has said in that it was very well organised and I can't fault it in any way. I ripped my number off after about mile 3 and as a result of that quite a few stewards were coming up to me as I walked up to the finish line early. They looked like they were ready to kill me :D and then I'd show them my squashed up number and everything was cool again.
Another advantage to finishing early was that I realised the small was way too tight for me I looked like an 80s groupy of WHAM, so I was able to change it to a medium.

WHAT? you still got a t-shirt for dropping out? I wouldn't have run the last five miles if I'd known that. :D

Ol' Donie How do the legs feel? I like to go out for an easy run the day after a race I find it helps loosen the legs out a bit.

+1 on the above, though I think my idea of easy is easier than RQ's!
It's way better to do a bit of gentle jogging than nothing at all.

They feel pretty good to be honest. I'm quite suprised, cos i found the last two miles to be a serious struggle (i'm sure i swore to myself that i'd never, ever do anything as foolish as go running ever again).

But yeah, i reckon i'll go out for half an hour or so. Thanks.

Won't be wearing my pink t shirt, though.:p
