You literally havent told me. You keep rambling on about the unvaccinated, and discrimination against same people, but you give no indication as to when or why we will return to normal.

You could replace him with the potted plant in his office, it would likely have better leadership characteristics. Hell, keep the potted plant rather than let Leo have his turn, the potted plant is likely more honest and thanks to the tray under the pot less leaky.

wait..people who have the disease. have the disease forever, there is no cure at this time. the vaccine is not a cure. please stop spreading miss information.

Because like you and others i don’t have a crystal ball. I was just telling you it’s going to be easier for the vaccinated. Thats all we know for now.

But lets think for a moment. Despite this awful pandemic we are in i don’t think we’re doing too bad. We can travel anywhere in the country. We can stay at any hotel. We can go into a pub or restaurant. We can travel internationally. Even the US are now planning to let vaccinated people through their borders.

considering we are in a serious pandemic we have made a lot of progress and can do a lot of things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,820 ✭✭✭timmyntc

You can do all that and more in the UK despite a lower vaccination rate there.

Soon Scotland will be the same.

    And Northern Ireland.

And many countries in Eastern Europe.

So by those metrics we are doing very poorly - we have world leading vaccination rates, yet cannot even plan to return to normal?

When the man on the telly tells him it's ok obviously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,839 ✭✭✭mcsean2163

    ?

He literally told me he would tell everyone he had the vaccine and encourage others to get it but would not take it as it was too dangerous.

    You consider that remarkably detailed?

Lately I'm getting, don't want to discuss medical details.

The vaccine hesitant come off like a bunch of bashful virgins. It's ridiculous. We're all adults.

To be honest, it's really annoying too. Over half the population have taken the vaccine and the associated risk. There's been no deaths but the anti vaccine/ hesitant are digging in their heels like virgins afraid to take the leap.

Unfortunately, we can't walk away and get someone else like with virgins, the hesitant are part of the country and seem determined to make the vaccination plan fail.

In engineering, we try something and if it fails we try something else.

The vaccination plan/ experiment may fail anyway but we'll never know if people continue to refuse to get vaccinated.

Great to see a mod step up here and call out some of this BS.

This forum is going to sh*t, security breaches, a very unwelcomed refresh and open conspiracy theories, misinformation and propaganda is rampant.

Conscious of freedom of speech but there is so much fluff and inaccurate information being spread in this thread that it should be moderated tightly.

    PCR nonsense appears once more.

    Probably for the thousandth time

    https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/guidance/outbreakmanagementguidance/PCR%20weak%20results%20guidance.pdf

Wont stop people repeating the same misrepresentations over and over however

And Israel only vaccinated 60% of the population

Translation - I believe in freedom of speech as long as what you say agrees with my worldview.

Nice that you get to 'try again' with engineering. Ctrl Y.

mRNA vaccines operate a little differently. If there is a screw-up, not all the kings horses nor all the kings men are going to get it back out of you again.

And all for a disease that kills people older than their expected years on average. How lamentable would that be?

I hope that nuclear engineering doesn't suffer from the groupthink that has afflicted their med colleagues.

Nope. A lot of this sh*te talk is constantly debunked with data and logic.

More posters than not don’t do the same and share BS conspiracy theories - it’s nothing to do with my world view. It’s to do with data and facts. Misinformation is a big issue globally and this forum (specifically this thread) is the perfect example of it.

Data and logic have been two items sadly missing in this country since the pandemic started. Especially in government circles and those of their advisors. I'd rather posters were engaged rather than shut down because what you call misinformation will differ to what someone else thinks it is.

Not really. I don’t watch the tv much. Is this some childish remark that i’m a Tony follower or something, the usual generic reply. Nice try but i have no interest in the man. I make my own decisions. I even have 3 international trips booked for the next month. I’m getting on with my life instead of whining on the internet all day. Some people don’t know how good they have it these days. Lets rewind back to January/February eh?

Seriously then why do yas bother coming here in all this doom and gloom if your happy with things as is ?

is it belief that its all great that i need to tell everyone who think otherwise.

the irony is deep is some people.

    Niccolò Machiavelli :

"To ally with great powers to defeat your neighbour is a strategic trap; if you win, you become the slave of the greater power; if the allied power is defeated, you remain alone and defenceless against the angry neighbour, and you are destroyed." - Niccolò Machiavelli

I don't think this constitutes and end-game. What I think the poster was looking for was criteria for getting back to normal. You are describing an ongoing situation with no definite end.

No worse than whinging about cattle tags all day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,648 ✭✭✭Micky 32

I don’t know what the end game is or the criteria is for the government to give us our end game.

i was posting about vaccines and antivaxxers not about the end game for restrictions but said poster brought me into an argument about the end game for whatever reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,884 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

"Anti-vaxxer" is just a talking point / term used by certain posters without any critical thinking. Must be a bit of blow to them when the realise that "anti-vax" sentiment in Ireland is absolutely tiny and that the vast overwhelming majority of the population are in favour of vaccines and will get vaccinated - we're well on the way to over 90% of adults being fully vaxxed in the next few weeks. Unfortunately for them it leaves those posters unable to answer questions about the endgame seeing as how "anti-vax" isn't a significant or even a moderate problem in Ireland. Deep down they are surely questioning when this will all end, but they have to keep justifying restrictions etc as they have pinned their colours to that mast long ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,884 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Apart from indoor hospitality there is no difference in society between vaxxed and unvaxxed. What other restrictions would you like placed on your fellow citizens? As an aside this whole Covid thing has been a boon for closet authoritarians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,648 ✭✭✭Micky 32

At the moment there isn’t a huge difference as you have pointed out. However the gap may widen considerably when more restrictions are eased when you think of stadiums, nightclubs , concerts and possibly travel too ( US are planning to let vaccinated in only). Those activities could be for the vaccinated only going forward. We could get lucky and the virus could disappear like the Spanish flu, remember the roaring 20’s? Vaccines might not matter as much then hopefully.

I have listened to enough BS from the antivaxxers . There’s a lot of ederly vulnerable people in my circle including my parents with heart problems. As far as i’m concerned the antivaxxers can jog on. A lot of them don’t realise the longer they put it off the longer it will take to get their normality back. Vaccines are the only way out of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,884 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Looks like anti-vaxxers are living rent free in your head or you need to expand your social circle. Anti-vaxxer isn't a thing in Ireland unless you don't believe the HSE vaccine stats that show massive overwhelming take up and that we're well on the way to over 90% of adults vaccinated here very soon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,648 ✭✭✭Micky 32

Lol. Is that a poor attempt to try and describe who i am? Pure comedy. Totally off the mark.

you don’t know the endgame no more than myself or anyone else on the forum antivax or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,884 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Totally on the mark I'm afraid for you.

I know I don't know the endgame because government are too cowardly to even consider it. We are at close to 90% vaccinated adults and yet we can't even have a proper debate in this country about ending these restrictions because of people shouting about "anti-vax" or having meltdowns because some people were out having a fun time and didn't wear a mask. We're too immature as a society to have a discussion on living with covid and this thread is a prime example with people droning on about "anti-vax" and looking to put further restrictions on their fellow citizens.

Yes thank you 1/60th capacity to the crowd who race horses and 1/2 capacity to the crowd that drove our covid figures last summer

Ah don’t be afraid for me i’ll be alright don’t you worry.

i have no interesting getting into a debate about the endgame . My original posts were about the vaccines. I guess there’s no real argument against them so it was obviously going to change tact just trying to deflect.

my conclusion is antivaxxers have low IQ’s. They are incapable of seeing the science. The vaccines are very effective and will dramatically reduce anyone getting seriously ill and worse. It’s a fact. The more people get vaccinated the better the chance and sooner normality returns.
