Apparently they gave appointments to people who had already been vaccinated. Hence why they didn't turn up

50-59 are split across 2 announced cohorts, 55-64 and 45-54.
They might further split these cohorts into two 5 year cohorts.

A lot of people to be vaccinated first in group 7 in May, or are you talking about them splitting up that group?
As it is mainly being done by GPs some will be quicker than others depending on how many they have and if they have a lot in group 6 also.
Some group 7s will be called by hospital consultants/ clinics as they may not be treated for their underlying conditions by their GP.

Josip, are you talking about group 7 or the general population?

A lot of bookings of those previously vaccinated apparently.
Would people not have the decency to let the VC know?

Didnt think they were jabbed already, they were People booked in for 2 venues in the texts they got , but if they sent back an opt out message it would have cancelled both of them. The Venues were made well aware of it just probably didnt know the scale of the issue.

A bit of a mess but they are vaccinating about 6 groups at the same time. It's a reminder of what can happen when you're forced to put together a system very fast, without enough time to test it. That said it it does not appear to be widespread and it can be viewed as further system testing!

Kingston Mills is such an informative and balanced contributor on TV and radio. He was on Morning Ireland earlier talking about antigen testing. I'm so glad to hear and see him on TV and radio so much more often now and less and less of Staines, McConkey, Killeen and Ryan. Irrespective of the various opinions on Covid, I've always found him to be very balanced, even back last year in the bad periods of high infections and pre vaccine approvals.

Interesting site from Duke University on vaccine manufacturing - potentially a whopping 12bn this year.

    J&J subcontractor screwed up massively.
Also they're using the same subcontractor as AZ.
We're heading for trouble with this one... :(

None of our AZ or J&J doses are being manufactured in the US

I can't see where essential workers ie: people who have had to continue working on site during lockdown (supermarket staff etc) feature on the vaccine priority list. Are they just in with the general population?

Does anyone know were the HCW who were double-booked done by accident or by their own doing?

Israel slowing down in rate of vaccinations, doing in a week what they did in a day in February. Passover might be another reason for it

Groups 1-9 remain the same, everyone else is by age.

The likes of Kingston Mills and Luke O Neil are a breath of fresh air

Why are they not part of NPHET or the vaccine rollout plan will forever dumbfound me!

Neither have expertise in the area is why. The HSE do flu' programmes every year. This one is no different even if it is complicated by size and supply issues. We are getting 90%+ of doses into arms within the week.

Yes. The Govt decided Mon to renege on their promise to Gardai, educaton staff, postmen, bus drivers etc.

Yeah stuff like that happens when you're forced to rush systems into action. Close to 1m doses in arms suggest they are doing OK otherwise.

No, they just changed the system to one which will be fairer to all, easier to use and faster. Most of of these changes will not be seen for at least a month. It was NIAC BTW, the government accepted their recommendations.

Exactly. According to the constitution, the HSE can only employ genuinely stupid people or people who don't give a fcuk.

Thats a nice tribute to those who have worked so hard for the last year!

Absolutely. I am not a fan of the HSE but they are doing quite well on this. The reality is that in 12 weeks pretty much everyone who wants one will get one. And moving to a simplified age structure makes far more sense than occupational priority.

They're overpaid and underworked. Immediate cuts of 20% to wages and numbers would wake them up.

Seriously like. The amount of people dying to shout "shambles!" over minor clerical issues is insanely frustrating.

There are lots of reasons why this might occur, most of which have perfectly satisfactory explanations when you're trying to embark on the largest and fastest vaccination programme this country has ever seen.

Once again, we need to avoid letting perfect be the enemy of good. Mistakes will happen, they will cost money. Provided they have no significant impact on the speed of rollout, then let's not get hung up on it.

If the HSE delayed vaccinations until they had a perfect IT system set up and ready to go, people would be going mental at the delays. When they move forward with the programme despite IT systems not being rock solid, people criticise them for being a mess. Can't win.

Yes, this is also happening in other countries. No, they are not ultra-slick operations without mistakes happening. No, we are not uniquely served by incompetent public servants.
