Not just vaccine! Can also qualify if you’re recovered from covid in past 6 months or had a negative test in days.

    So as of Monday:

    Pfizer: 734k (654k + 80k - estimated delivery for this week)
    Moderna: 68k
    Astrazeneca: 340k (228k + 112k)

    Total: 1,142m

That leaves us with approximately 300k vaccines to use, allowing for half of Moderna being kept back. Should be some big numbers this week and next week, all going well

The conspiracy theorists are gonna go mental.

I think it's a great move, and will be of utmost importance for any future pandemics.

Millions of senior people will be able to travel across the world this summer. Grannies will save the economy.
Younger people will just stay home and wait for a selfie from their grannies!

You can get a test or a vaccine so everyone can travel.
    Roll on the sun.

True I should have mentioned that. It's essentially a vaccine passport anyway

Documents circulating at COREPER (Committee of EU Ambassadors) showing that the goal of full adult vaccination across the EU by July isn't realistic.

Huge variation though - Malta should have 93% of theirs vaccinated, Denmark just under 80%, and Ireland only 59% (slightly ahead of the EU average of 55%). Certainly far lower than what the government here are expecting.

    https://www.brusselstimes.com/news/eu-affairs/162967/revealed-eu-target-for-full-vaccination-by-july-impossible-say-ambassadors/

This has been a PR disaster for the EU so soon after Brexit (compared with the UK at least). I say that as a strongly pro-EU person, they've really missed the mark here.

I dunno, isn't it just speculation like everything else?

We're performing pretty well at the moment, exceeding targets.

    Roll on the sun.

The vaccine for my age range will be available probably in 3 to 4 years.

Besides this, why will a person who was vaccinated be able to travel? After all, we know that the vaccine doesn't protect you from getting the virus or spreading it to others.
Yes, I know that some studies say differently, but these are just theories so far. Fact is that you are still able to infect others. So how will a passport save the world?

Does anyone know how you get a covid-test without having access to a car? I'm in Dublin but not near croke park and if my GP refers me when I call, I don't know how I'll get to a test centre. I have nobody who can drive me.

Mammy had to go for a test a few weeks ago, and she has no car. The army came along and dropped her to and from :)

Perhaps they are hoping travel will be the carrot the encourages the hesitant.

Could they not mop up the balance of the over 70's in the MVC's from next week and let the GP's get on with the Very High Risk/High Risk patients?

Wouldn't that simplify things, I'm sure there are a few over 70's who would be more than willing to go to their nearest MVC if it meant they got a vaccine next week? Obviously ID would be needed to prove age and PPSN No.

Or am I being dense?

Ireland are planning 80% first dose by end of June. All those AstraZeneca recipients in Q2 won’t be getting a second dose in Q2. Massive deliveries in June won’t get 2nd doses until July.

Israel are almost fully open at 55%.

    Massive deliveries in July.

    The future is bright n

Any idea what test? If a PCR test is required before travelling and on return and everyone has to have it including under 18’s then we ain’t going anywhere - could cost us over €1000 in tests alone.

Is the 654k Pfizer figure just an estimate, same for the 112k AZ?
There should have been a Moderna delivery also.
Why the government can't be updating the delivery info when deliveries arrive is annoying.

Is there any EU country that lists their deliveries with more frequency than Ireland and without a week lag?

Just looking at today's data from the Dept of Health in NI.

81 new cases in people over the age of 60 in the last 7 days which amounts to 8.9% of new cases in NI.

Two weeks ago on 18th March 164 cases had been reported in the previous 7 days for people over 60 which accounted for 14.2% of new cases in the 7 day reporting period.

So in other words in two weeks over 60s have gone from accounting for 14.2% of new cases to 8.9% of new cases.

That seems like pretty strong evidence that the vaccination programme in NI is really starting to have a significant impact.

AZ is confirmed, arrived last night.

The 654k is what we have, I'm assuming a similar 80k delivery this week.
