100% scam. The price is ridiculous. Look at their other listings, they have plenty. Nearly everything is priced in multiples of 100, they don't look like real prices. Feel free to buy a couple, I'll play you +10% over your costs + shipping if it's real!!!

Thought alright was way too good to be real, especially with OC version being cheaper than the standard. The search continues

I bought an Rtx 2080 from them a year or so ago from them without issues but I'm based in Germany.

Turns out they don't ship to Ireland, thought it was too good to be true

Back to searching for a needle in a haystack then!

Caseking.de ship to ireland, prices were about the same when I looked. Seem to be getting cards in once a week.

Guys, where I can have a look at decent prebuilts outside of Alienware. Though they have updated their AMD line with new cpus and gpus.

Considering whole UK situation now, it really limits options. I used pcspecialist for my laptop over a year ago. I presume now theu are a no go.

I just read on here in another thread that caseking.de ship to Ireland. I do not know much about them or how their pricing structure is but I do know a lot of German retailers do not ship outside of Germany. And UK retailers do not since since brexit either.

My new 5600x arrived last week and the box was damaged. I thought nothing of it as the cpu clamshell holder looked ok.

Went to install it today and found 2 bent pins
It can be hard to rma for bent pins as normally they blame the user.

I managed to fix them luckily so all good :D
    Phew....

I was just about to say bend them back as it was always the way even with Intel back in the day.

Something let out the magic smoke in my home server last night. Not grounding but tripping the breaker, two inline 13As intact. Hoping t'fúck its just the SFX PSU.

You still using that ITX time bomb mobo? Hopefully wasn't that.

Twas the PSU. Slightly swollen 400v (chonky) cap. Makes sense as the culprit as it was enough to trip an MCB.

New one is a v2, and Silverstone have some V3s which makes me think there was a reason to revise them.

Not entirely sure about that as I don't think they had even released any first party games for it in the end, they'd assisted on one or two titles but never any Google made games from the studio.

I do agree though that it's probably not going to last long regardless.

At least you didn't have to go replacing the board.

What PSU do you have again? Cause there's an ST30SF sitting in mine that I'm now thinking I might check the next time I'm back there.

From what I have heard from a Friend who uses it Stadia works really well. However, I think Microsoft are in a great position to dominate this area. Their server infrastructure is on a par with Google's with Game Pass and the IP/dev companies they own, they will be hard to compete with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,283 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Google have the funds and server infrastructure to make it work. They obviously don't see it as worth the investment.

Uptake must have been poor and I hope it stays that way. Last thing we want is these big corps getting more of a stranglehold on the gaming industry.

It's not good for developers or gamers.

Intel's 10nm Biglittle CPU is spotted also with Xe graphics. Their integrated graphics are catching up to AMD's APU's.

AMD still haven't put Navi on their APUs. They're using several year old Vega.

Once they feel threatened there'll be zen 3/4 Navi APUs that intel won't be able to touch.

Does the big little approach even make much sense on desktops? Obviously on laptops it will increase battery life but on desktops that isn't much benefit.

I am thinking the same. I'm not sure if it is even good for laptops as I know phones use to use the same Biglittle but afaik phone manufacturers have since stopped using such a architecture.

You can save battery power on laptops with current CPU's just have a low Hz single core enabled in firmware and will achieve the same low power setup.

The very same. New one is the v2 version.

For desktops, I was assuming it's more to buy some thermal headroom for the big cores. The idea would be that the threads executing on the small cores are lower power and don't heat up the die as much as (possibly fewer) big cores executing the same threads. Rocket Lake seems to be thermally limited (they dropped to 8 cores from 10 on the previous generation), so heat seems to be the main barrier to more cores for Intel.
