Trip booked for next August. Will I get to go? No idea but certainly will give myself something to look forward too.

    Just go.

It's only advisory from the government, similar to the self isolation when you return.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

The advisory doesn't bother me, it's the prevalence of the virus and restrictions that may be in place in my destination. I intend a touring holiday of three countries, two of whom have severe restrictions in place at the moment.

That’s my biggest fear of a holiday abroad.

Arriving at a hotel with limited bar/restaurant service , closed gym and pool etc would certainly put me off booking at the moment.

TBH I think those kinds of places would lift restrictions even faster than other places. They rely almost exclusively on tourism.

Not having your meat and two veg on public display is not strange, it's considered polite by Western society.

What are the chances the Government will go back to Level 3 this week or next week, or will they stick to Level 5 until December 1st ?

That would be admitting they were wrong to jump to 5 on the say-so of Nphet. Won't happen. I can even see Holohan wanting to extend.

Best we can hope for is level 3 plus in December

Just been to Dunnes to pick up a few groceries, haven't been in over a week. I see all the fashion part closed off with signs about regulations!

Heard noise about such nonsense in the media but switched off but jeez WTF??:eek: Have we really lost it in this country?? And people will still try to convince you that we don't live in a hysterical nanny state!

When I watched the NPHET press conference Tuesday, they stated it was the Amárach polls they use which they base public opinion on...

Who answers these polls? I mean if someone I don't know rang me asking me to answer some questions, I'd tell them where to go!

And Retail Ireland pushed for that, if their members can't have it no one can

Course he will. And when this lockdown fails like the last one, Holohan's line will be that the lockdown only failed because we didn't lockdown hard enough and the only solution to a failed lockdown is to redouble our efforts and lockdown again. We could replace him with an African grey parrot or a Magic 8-ball and there wouldn't be the slightest change in our approach.

    Yep, beyond belief.

All those people out of a job as a result.

Can't get socks for kids, but grabbing a bottle of wine? No bother.

Hard to see a GE happening before it's due as FFFG will be made pay by people whose lives they've destroyed.

Did NPHET meet today and recommend Level 6? For 6 weeks?

It's been obvious since Holhan returned that this Level 5 lockdown is just the start...
They will do what the UK are doing now which is to completely abandon the "Living with Covid" levels and go straight to a complete lockdown, schools, construction sites and elite sports closed/suspended. Only supermarkets/pharmacies open. Off-licences with reduced hours, and a night time curfew also...
I would also guess that they will bring in a complete travel ban by bringing in some "emergency" law which "temporarily" suspends the right to leave the country...
Once there's some sort of a vaccine in the country they will make it mandatory also, just look at Harris' comments about unvaccinated kids in school.

This is going to be a long hard winter and Holohan won't be taking their foot off the Gas anytime soon... No Government minister/leader will stand up to them again after the Varadkar charade..

Hello. I am sorry poster, but I must pull you up right there on that preposterous posting. Have you studied that data at all ? This is the very type of completely misleading, alarmist, and downright baseless type of misinformation it behoves us all to call out and work to improve the quality of information and understanding in the wider public. Please, I request you delete your posting. (it can be done in the 'edit' mode if you use the 'Go Advanced' function).

    Nox?

I’m not sure if any on here saw the trailer to a new Michael Bay Covid movie, Songbird. It certainly didn’t run with a relaxation of restrictions into the future. Its storyline details Covid never left, it is now Covid 23. Not only is it a police state, it’s army state...the stuff of horrors.

I absolutely didn't want a level 5, but I work in a supermarket and if we're in level 5 those are the regulations. I honestly dont get why people think it should be any different. clothes shops are closed, and then rightly so should non-essential sections in supermarkets.

those sections being open leads to more customers coming in and more time browsing in the store. it really does add up in how much extra time is being spent in the stores daily , which increases likelihood of transmission.
