I think Niall Boylan looked at it and in the entire country 8 people without serious underlying conditions died of Covid.

Firstly at that time it was 8 people aged 25-65 without underlying health conditions however as most deaths were over 65 its misleading at best.

Nonetheless even if people have an underlying health condition, it doesn't mean they would have died young or "soon".

If the government didn't act to impose restrictions it would be an abuse of human rights. There is nothing patriotic about Niall Boylan's comment.

so you think food production (or construction for that matter) should be seen on the same level as people going down to have a few pints?

We export 80% of all meat processed in Ireland. So we should only be operating at 20% capacity. Much safer and we don't go hungry.

Now just remind me, was his qualification from Harvard or Yale?

Your constant misrepresentation of peoples position on Covid and related matters is obvious and boring.
There's a big ignore button there if you can't cope with being challenged. Any further personal posts & I'll be reporting it.

Now I'm not suggesting there's anything to be read out of these but the optics on this are poor, perception is reality when it comes to the 'public' and a lot of good willed misinformation etc is leading to people relaxing (or doubting) where they should be most vigilant.
Yes, the optics are poor. If you ignore the fact that knowledge, and best practice, around the virus has been (and continues to be) evolving.

I would also suggest that those most vulnerable, or with family members who are most vulnerable, continue to exercise caution.

I would also wonder whether those that are partying hard (in houses or the apparently numerous food pubs breaching regulations) will present for testing if they develop symptoms? What was said early in lockdown to try to help compliance - "do you want to be embarrassed talking to a contact tracer"? But if you're really not bothered about sticking to the guidelines, are you even going to bother reporting?

So factually correct that only 8 people U-65 died of Covid without already having underlying conditions.

You are thinking of Niall Prenderville from Cork, unlucky.

So between last night and this lunchtime th Taoiseach was wary of saying whether pubs will open this year. Then Eamonn Ryan said that pubs will open this year. This is my biggest issue with this new government is the fact that the messaging is bad. By having two leaders saw two very different things doesn't help confusion and confusion isn't what we need.

The gubbermint are only covering their asses. It is a simple call to make. They will allow the pubs to open once the kids are back to school. In that way they can blame any increases in infections on the schools reopening. Pure PR.

Someone told me there are only 13 people currently in hospital being treated for Covid19? Correct me if I am wrong here?

I am genuinely getting concerned about the increase in other ailments in the next 12 months at this stage. Cancer screening has collapsed along with general checkups for people with other highly treatable conditions.

I think the shutting down of the Dáil and the courts for their annual holidays is a bit cheeky all things considered. These are exceptional times, it is a bit Irish for all the TD's to start rubbing their hands and grabbing 6 weeks off for themselves, they have hardly had a long year or anything like it? Let's hope they are recuperated in time for September, poor divils.

Yeah I was wondering about this, on prime time the mayo vintners representative (i think) who owns a pub said the only thing stopping her from opening was a bowl of chicken wings and how stupid that is..... why not just serve a bowl of something then?

You have to have a HSE certified kitchen area which is extremely expensive to implement.

The pint is dear enough without adding investment for a chicken-wing kitchen on top of that as the costs will always be passed back to the customer in the end.

Boylan has his faults but pretty sure that was someone else.

You can outsource food to a local food provider.

Yes it was pointed out by Weldoninho and I apologised. I was thinking of Prenderville. Amended the post.

    Here's the data. https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/surveillance/underlyingconditionsreports/Underlying%20conditions%20summary_04082020.pdf

Many older people will have one chronic condition or another, especially heart disease.

A local pub near me has no kitchen whatsoever but they order in from a local Chinese cafe/restaurant, only 2 options a meat box or veggie box, very simple and does the job

There's people on here crying because they can't get a pint after 11pm, as if being asked to make even the smallest sacrifice was too much of an imposition. Some people need to take a long look at themselves, and ask how you ended up so self-centered.

They will, this is the Social media age, they read the first line and if it doesn't ring true they write it off as fake.

Looking at my own FB page I'm seeing a lot looking for an explanation as to how the thousands of yanks are allowed 'flood' the country and the questions about how a bowl of chicken wings can cure Covid - yes I know but that's what you're dealing with.

funny to think the country voted to abort/murder little babies but don't you dare open a wet pub with social distancing controls.

It's factual, unlike your posts blaming the wrong people for masturbating in public.

Is there any good links to what they need to do?

    Ive been in:
    - Pubs with small pizza ovens behind bar cooking pre made pizzas they get delivered, no kitchen.
    - Pubs with sandwich makers on bar counter - no kitchen etc.
    - Food delivered.
    - Pubs with pre made up cheese boards in fridge behind bar.

Is all that against the rules?
