Again your certainty , when scientists and doctors still can't say that , is astounding!
Must be the power of wishful thinking.

Or maybe this poster has a magical crystal ball. Seems like quite a few people here have them judging by their wild claims.

    Yes, indeed .
Be sure now to tell your principle , your fellow colleagues and your union that won't you, and make sure to sign a disclaimer , good lad !

No problem at all..I will do that if asked...and I'm not a "lad".

    Why the sarcastic remarks btw?

For goodness sake just look around you. Shop workers happy to stand alongside a person and give directions to an aisle. The tree surgeon who trimmed my tree standing beside me to discuss the job. The mechanic who fixed my car leaning into the engine bay with me to show me something. Human nature being what it is, many if not most people are acting normally, unless they are suddenly reminded or instructed to social distance.

Whatever about the shop workers ..that was unfair of you to stand so close to that worker really ...both of these examples are people working in an outdoor environment , or are self employed and frankly if they want to do that they are their own boss .
Hard for that shop worker to get away from axxxxxe who shoves up near them asking directions, without that same axxxxxe complaining them for rudeness when they ask him to stepback !

People like that should be escorted off the premises :pac:

    Actually they should be.

    Which is fine.

And if a teacher didn't want to go back with no Social Distancing rules, would you have a problem with that?

Because if not, then the kids will be back but some of the teachers won't.

No I don't have any problem with anyone having an opinion on it or fear for their own wellbeing.
I was just giving my tuppence on it as a teacher that I am willing to go back in September with no social distancing if that's what's needed.
If that doesn't work out then that's up to government/unions to sort out but that is my personal view.

    Welcome to the thread.

There are a couple of posters here who do not want to let go of restrictions.

Perfectly sensible, relax restrictions only when the time is right.

Went shopping this morning. Handful of customers wearing masks. No staff wearing them in either of the 2 shops I went to (one being the local Dunnes).

Rightly so IMO. The hysteria over this virus has shifted from STAY AT HOME to WEAR YOUR MASK it seems - whereas the reality now is neither are appropriate for the current phase.

I have worn one twice - once when getting my new glasses sorted, and once for a doctor's visit. Uncomfortable, sweaty, not as easy to breathe. I don't use public transport and I won't be volunteering to put myself through that every time I need a few bits when there's no reason to at this stage.

To be honest, this thread is a cesspit. People congratulating others for being willing to breach Public Health advice.

Thankfully, it appears that amongst those actually planning the return in the education sector, there isn't the madness you see in this thread.

Sorry what? I'm not breaching any public health advice..I'm giving my opinion that I will go back to school without social distancing amongst children if that's what is recommended.
I'm hardly going to be going in in September on a crusade breaking any guidelines if they are in place.
And actually thankfully you will see that those planning for return in the education section are advocating for exactly that...all children back to school and no social distancing rules.

You know full well that we were referring to working in the usual environment. So for teachers that would mean in school rather than from home.

This is the post I was replying to .
Just because they are working from home does not mean that teachers haven't been working per se.

Also you contradicted a post that nurses wear PPE then later amended that they might wear masks , which you say is not PPE.
Masks ARE PPE , along with gloves gowns .
    .

There seems to be a serious amount of fear out there. Can't see anything getting back to normal at this rate. It's like an experiment so we wait and see

I could be mistaken but having seen the news earlier even the Guards didn't seem to be wearing masks. If the police aren't wearing them how do they expect the population to take up wearing them?

I assume these shops have protective screens in place at the tills and the staff are all wearing gloves?

    :D:D:D:D:D

Child having 1 day per school - is not madness?

"blended online learning" for other 4 days? all alone? thats alright, except for its not.

    Friday comedy indeed

    Yes hilarious!
Except none of the posters here said anything about one day a week except the anti restriction side, nor do we all blanketly agree with online learning, if you Read the Posts

Sure.. but a lot of them are on the floor stocking shelves, checking things etc.. Gloves would be standard but not one mask.

The fear isn't warranted. The curve has been flattened (or whatever other catchphrase one likes) and the only very real risk now is to the economy, jobs and education as the knee-jerk hysteria from some quarters continues.

As per Irish Times regarding travel to and from EU countries discussed during today's cabinet meeting.

"it is understood a memo to the meeting envisaged the quarantine period for such countries would be dropped when Phase 3 of the Covid-19 restrictions starts on June 29th."

Precisely that there why most people will not wear masks.

They may buy one, try it out, but after 3 - 5 minutes most will take it off and bin the thing.

    That's true.
I don't think teachers were hiding though, they were working , as I said before about 2 pages back and other posters who are teachers have said.

    Working riskfree at home.
    Not like healthcare staff.

Nope and they were given a supply a few weeks ago and advised to wear them in squads cars etc and they aren't.

A garda friend told me most in his station ditched them day 1, was providing difficult to hear what others were saying over the radios

The EU issued a communication this week to that effect. 2 week extension to the controls which were in effect up to 15 June.

    They need to toughen up.
Surgeons wear them for hours at a time.
Recently ICU staff have been wearing FFP3 masks ( the worst for discomfort) for hours at a time.

Would be a lot more uncomfortable and sweaty and short of breath with Covid pneumonia

Mmmm Gardai really do not seem to care about mask wearing or any of the hysteria coming out of Simon Harris and Tony cause for concern.

They like to think they're above the law anyway.
Just look at the exception made for mobile phones.

They as in 4,900,000 people in our country?

    Yes, except for no.

Most people barely wash their hands (to the 6/10 times per day standard).... (i do, before anyone says otherwise :pac: ) lets face it, masks are a no go.
