Do not present "opinion" as "fact"

Do not believe all stats that are spouted. Usually figures presented in any official way are not only checked for inaccuracies, but will also have caveats and/or explanations of what was done to derive any conclusions reached. Stats though are not "facts" beyond the sample they represent. They can be used to draw conclusions over wider populations, but those conclusions are always subject to a margin of error

If you throw up an example please explain what point you are making. For example "Look at Sweden" means nothing unless you say what you are looking at in connection with Sweden. Is it restrictions, is it deaths, is it infections?

Because if not, then the kids will be back but some of the teachers won't.

No I don't have any problem with anyone having an opinion on it or fear for their own wellbeing.
I was just giving my tuppence on it as a teacher that I am willing to go back in September with no social distancing if that's what's needed.
If that doesn't work out then that's up to government/unions to sort out but that is my personal view.

Went shopping this morning. Handful of customers wearing masks. No staff wearing them in either of the 2 shops I went to (one being the local Dunnes).

Rightly so IMO. The hysteria over this virus has shifted from STAY AT HOME to WEAR YOUR MASK it seems - whereas the reality now is neither are appropriate for the current phase.

I have worn one twice - once when getting my new glasses sorted, and once for a doctor's visit. Uncomfortable, sweaty, not as easy to breathe. I don't use public transport and I won't be volunteering to put myself through that every time I need a few bits when there's no reason to at this stage.

Sorry what? I'm not breaching any public health advice..I'm giving my opinion that I will go back to school without social distancing amongst children if that's what is recommended.
I'm hardly going to be going in in September on a crusade breaking any guidelines if they are in place.
And actually thankfully you will see that those planning for return in the education section are advocating for exactly that...all children back to school and no social distancing rules.

Just because they are working from home does not mean that teachers haven't been working per se.

Also you contradicted a post that nurses wear PPE then later amended that they might wear masks , which you say is not PPE.

I could be mistaken but having seen the news earlier even the Guards didn't seem to be wearing masks. If the police aren't wearing them how do they expect the population to take up wearing them?

Sure.. but a lot of them are on the floor stocking shelves, checking things etc.. Gloves would be standard but not one mask.

The fear isn't warranted. The curve has been flattened (or whatever other catchphrase one likes) and the only very real risk now is to the economy, jobs and education as the knee-jerk hysteria from some quarters continues.

"it is understood a memo to the meeting envisaged the quarantine period for such countries would be dropped when Phase 3 of the Covid-19 restrictions starts on June 29th."

They may buy one, try it out, but after 3 - 5 minutes most will take it off and bin the thing.

Nope and they were given a supply a few weeks ago and advised to wear them in squads cars etc and they aren't.

A garda friend told me most in his station ditched them day 1, was providing difficult to hear what others were saying over the radios

The EU issued a communication this week to that effect. 2 week extension to the controls which were in effect up to 15 June.

Surgeons wear them for hours at a time.
Recently ICU staff have been wearing FFP3 masks ( the worst for discomfort) for hours at a time.

Would be a lot more uncomfortable and sweaty and short of breath with Covid pneumonia

Yet in the Dunnes I work in we are selling alot of face masks, yet i never see anyone wearing them anywhere

Yes, except for no.

Most people barely wash their hands (to the 6/10 times per day standard).... (i do, before anyone says otherwise :pac: ) lets face it, masks are a no go.
