Contact local TDs as well. Pile pressure in any way you can. The more that do it the better. If nobody did, I doubt anything would move forward

You mean you have not been in contact with your MEPs and the internal market Commissioner?

You really need to up your game. They can help open the borders.

Indoors, lots of people, talking, circulating air. I find it difficult to see how offices go back anytime soon, and even when they do it will be with a huge reduction in capacity while social distancing remains in place.

I'm not sure. They're obviously just screenshots from RTE. I think I heard the CMO say something about there being a 10 page booklet which expands on the details of the above. I'll keep my eyes open for that.

Thought 15 people outdoors was only for sports training? Could you have a 10 person BBQ within the guidelines?

You could have a second BBQ and make it 20 people but designate Group 1 and Group 2 and have a ball just in case.

It's slightly confusing. I can see what they're trying to do (let sports returns, but not a free-for-all in terms of social gatherings), but it's a bit unwieldy.

If I'm reading it right 6 people can meet socially.

15 people can meet if it's an organised sporting event.

I'm sure people will get a great laugh about wearing rugby/GAA jersey's and meeting up for a barbecue, but at the end of the day the rules are really only guidelines in reality - it's up to each of us to try and keep within the spirit of the rules.

Social, cultural or sporting! Sounds cultural to me especially if it's BYOB!

have a kickabout in the back garden, that's the primary function but there's hydration in the form of beer and carbs in the form of hot dogs, burgers etc

20km from your house, or anywhere within your county.
So as the garden center is 8km, you're within the 20km.

It's still nonsense though. One of the journalists rightly asked the question of Leo about how someone in Cork can travel a lot further than 20km under this, but others in smaller counties or who maybe are closer to the border of another will still be restricted.

But pubs and restaurants can open ?
The old fashioned hot and stuffy Irish pub with no air conditioning is the perfect breeding ground for any virus.

Leo needs to stop with the quotes

He does. He's trying to too hard to craft a speech that will become a classic but he'd achieve that better by coming up with something in his own wording or that of a speechwriter (as many of the classic speeches aren't written by the person saying them). Repeating the quote of somebody else won't do it because it just comes across unoriginal and will never seem profound.

Ah give over, it's more than we were expecting. It's an easy soundbite, and solves a problem raised by some rural TDs.

No , you can go over the border of another county in that case , up to 20km. It's just a form of movement control, a much wider radius but most will comply- which is the aim of it.

Unfortunately I agree, but there are powerful lobbies at work. I think they're in a "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" mode when it comes to lifting restrictions.

Why? They can go 20km into 2-3 other counties!

Any where. We just booked our campsite for first week in July.

Big turn around by the government.

    Summer camps open also

Absolutely delighted with this amendment. Hopefully as the numbers continue to improve, the government can change and adapt accordingly too. This is what's been missing for the past month, a government making decisions. Hopefully by more reopenings, travel wihtin Ireland, etc., the fear factor will be lessened too for people. I would advise watching as little RTÉ as possible also, it loves a good scary, miserable take on everything.

It’s great that so many things are reopening but realistically a lot of people will want to be able to enjoy doing these things without feeling like they’ve been dragged through a bush. I don’t care if it’s a vanity thing it probably is, open the salons ffs so we can at least look nice while doing things
