What’s the story with cruise ships?

Not sure, nothing from them yet. Starships are back taking bookings for deep space holidays since Monday.

It’s great that so many things are reopening but realistically a lot of people will want to be able to enjoy doing these things without feeling like they’ve been dragged through a bush. I don’t care if it’s a vanity thing it probably is, open the salons ffs so we can at least look nice while doing things

Literally weeping over my hair. I don’t care how vain that makes me sound. I just want my highlights done ffs :pac:

Big boats with swimming pools and all sorts. Like a floating Butlins.

I find it mad that there are headlines announcing groups of 6 can meet up from monday, as if it's a revelation of some sort, when there have been gangs of people everywhere in Dublin from about the 3rd week of LL this onward. Bit of a joke now.

Why? They can go 20km into 2-3 other counties!

Only if they're right on the border, it's anywhere within their own county, but if it brings you out of your home county, only 20km from your home. It's not 20km over the border regardless.

The rules were always a bit complex and open to interpretation but now they've jumped the shark. The new travel-distance ones are literally unenforceable and they're essentially relying on broad compliance (which is fading rapidly by the day).

Wtf shops can’t reopen until 10.30am? Logic would dictate the longer hours the open=less crowding. What kind of donkeys dream up this stuff?

Makes complete sense. I'd question who the donkey is here with your "logic" fail.

George lee losing the plot. “Worried “ about the virus. What an absolute muppet

One of the biggest mysteries of the last few months.....how the hell did George Lee become a science correspondant??

But pubs and restaurants can open ?
The old fashioned hot and stuffy Irish pub with no air conditioning is the perfect breeding ground for any virus.

I suppose the thinking is that if you're in an office you're in that environment for 8 hrs as opposed to a few hours in a restaurant or eating in a pub?

A friend changes counties when they leave their driveway. That's the official position, I can't see much attempt to police it except for blatant violations. With a lot more people working over the next phase it will see longer journeys than that.

They're no different than the previous ones when it comes to enforcement. Probably easier in fact as it's handy enough to figure out someone is in the 'wrong' county than it was to see if someone was 5km/10km from their home.

Apologies, wasn't aware I couldn't dislike Harris because he has Crohn's.

People were taking potshots at his demeanour. His health could very well be playing into that. As somebody who has Crohn's disease, when it's active, it's a very hard disease to live with and the discomfort can very much read on your face.

They rotate jobs or have to reapply every so often, every 5 years I think.

Simon's attitude annoys me. His whole thing seems to be that they're giving us something we should be appreciative of, rather than the reality that they are simply removing restrictions to freedoms we already had.

Jaysus, you are straining here for something to complain about.

I better tell my sister then, who's arrived here in Galway from Dublin this afternoon.

The rules aren't being enforced and everyone knows it by now.

Yeah, but it's meant for example someone say living in Enfield thinking they can travel 20km into Dublin.

What is the logic to shops opening at 10.30? Genuine question - this is the first I've heard of this and would be interested to understand it

They are relying on people voluntarily complying with the rules, and most people are because they know it's in our best interest as a country.

They're not going to worry about the small group who couldn't care less about anyone except themselves.

I'd prefer if I wasn't stopped and questioned by armed police when I walk outside my door like other countries, but it's up to us whether that's the type of country we can have.

To stagger use of public transport.

Most other workers are attempting to get into work in the hour or so around 9am. Whether it be people working in an office, construction workers etc.

It makes no sense to add retail workers into the same commute times.

Fine in Dublin City centre. Elsewhere the vast majority would not be using public transport

There must be some other forum populated by people like yourself you can post on? What do you contribute to this thread other than infantile posts?
