And as for keeping the Dubs out, do you honestly believe that all of the Dublin cases are Dubs, born and bred?
Exactly. Fine for me but my husband still won't be able to see his family so I'm wondering when it will open up wider.

Are there stats around about the rate of increases at a county level in recent days? Be curious to see where it's now most active. Seems Dublin as an overall percentage of cases is dropping.

Places reopening sooner is good. They wouldn't do it if it wasn't safe.

Hopefully vital hospital screenings and procedure starts next.

Get your priorities right. There are county travel restrictions to be sorted out first.

If the leaks are true thankfully the government are finally beginning to see sense with easing the restrictions earlier than planned

The significant pressure put on them told

Bad day for the misery merchants, good day for common sense.

What's the deal with cocooners? It said in the original draft for phase 2 that they would be "allowed" to go shopping - this is still happening I presume? Although my mother couldn't take it anymore after 10 weeks of it and went out shopping for the first time yesterday :)

While there might be some very long overdue positive news today, its still very important to keep the pressure on until this lockdown is fully over.

Pandemic payments to continue until August, with reduced PUP for part-time workers from 29 June

I'd say most are out and about at least a bit by now..Anecdotal but every elderly person I know goes shopping and to the park now, saw so many OAP's in the shopping centre yesterday. It would be totally inhumane to still be avoiding human contact completely for any longer

Where are these leaks coming from? I just don't get it.

Yeah, my parents still get their weekly groceries delivered, but have been popping into the likes of Spar to do the top up of bread and milk and what not over the past two weeks.

It’s how Leo operates, everything gets floated in the media to see the reaction.

There will be a thorough investigation. It's not like these leaks are ever intentional to test the public mood. Maybe Leo has listened to polesheep and growleaves.

Woah. Click into the link to see an amazing photo. What social distancing lol

"It might seem like many Europeans are already enjoying post-lockdown la dolce vita, sipping coffee at pavement cafés, while our cautious exit leaves us modestly excited about buying a new pair of net curtains next week."

If they dont tell us what we want to hear at 4 PM today - there will be uproar

Surely their is nobody who can defend those in charge, particularly Harris, for the complete inaction regarding the above, that will leave many people dead.

Possibly a stupid question, but it's still meant to be essential journies only isn't it even with the county wide allowance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

No, everything the government does is bad. Even when it's good it's still bad, or it was done for the wrong reasons.

Yeah sure why not sit here clapping like seals while we all point and laugh at Europeans back to normal having not fcuked over their own children

It's how governments operate. Kite flying. See how the public reacts. If they're happy go ahead. If not, it was never their intention and they don't know where that information came from.

I wouldn’t say there are many trips to tk maxx that could be deemed “essential” so I’d say they’ll change the advice on that too.

Unrestricted travel within your own county is fine by me. It’s not like the guards are going to be on every border so it’s essentially free travel all over Ireland.

I agree there that having complete lack of scepticism over our govts actions over the last 3 months does really resonate as clapping seals who have no idea whats actually taking place.

Especially striking in the world of social media we live today where its so bloody obvious that 25/30 European countries are completely back to normal while we here are dreading Simon We are not there yet Harris and Tony cause for concern Holohan press conferences.

Anyone got a full list of retailers opening on Monday? Some of the bigger ones seem quite blindsided by this and may not be ready. Smaller retailers most definitely reopening as far I can see and raring to go. Let’s get out and support them as best we can.

Go for it. It’s effectively over. Gardai aren’t going to be enforcing this anymore and will have far more to worry them crimewise from here on in

Are they requested to have and ID with them?
I would ignore the restrictions and tell I'm 69 if asked.

I think Sunday's event in Dublin had a lot to do with this dramatic change of heart, they knew they lost the confidence of the public once pictures of the SJW's mass gathering appeared on social media.

To anyone wanting to go see their family in another county or a few counties over, just go. There's no legislation for the Gardaí to enforce, tell them to mind their own business. Just go and see your family, lifes too short.
