Sorry, thought someone mentioned it was in the square. We used to go into the Rock street diner anytime we were 'allowed' into town! Was a great spot.

    Has Easons reopened?

I thought I saw someone mention it during week somewhere.

Passed by earlier and looked closed. As they sell newspapers, I think that would allow them to open alright if they wanted to.

What about JBs? Chips with seasoning and a few games of Double Dragon. Also Larry's snooker club in Strand St.

My partner got a few Native American figures from there.

I think it was open though since Mr. Hogan died, fairly sure I saw it open with the man who used to work there but maybe now with the lockdown it has finished it off. Hard to know at this stage when I saw him there as all time seems to be suspended!

Lot of stuff in there, you'd imagine a closing down sale would have been an idea, who knows it might happen after June 8th unless somebody knows for certain that it isn't reopening even temporarily.

Lol. The front had a sign painted on it saying Fancy Goods. Sounds like a description from the 1950s...

Funny how these shops have been there all our lives and you'd pass them daily but you wouldn't notice them for the most part.

It is when there gone you will really miss them ,I suppose a bit like the pubs that will never again open .In my youth remember going out socialising and meeting the same old faces week in week out ,bit by bit they all went off seperate ways and some i have never seen or heard from again even though i would have being talking to them nearly every week back in them good ole days!!!

I'll definitely be waiting a few weeks until the hysteria calms down! Nothing I need badly enough to queue that long!

I went into town for a few things yesterday. It was the first time I had been in the town centre walking around since this started (bar going to work & bank). Didn't see too busy, but it was a bit like a Sunday with very little open! I had to go to Boots and there was no queue when I went in, but a queue started outside as I was leaving. Same with Dealz (which seemed quite busy). It felt weird walking around again, but nice too :)

We were around there at the same time then. I past Dealz and it was the first time I seen a queue there - no queue at Tesco.

What amazes me is that people are willing to spend ages in these queue's
We were going to have a drive thru from Burger King on Friday Evening, when we arrived the queue was out to where you exit the drive thru
    We turned right around obviously

Just got sent this picture from the lock gates today. I also passed by the canal and it was thronged.
The guards were only down the road outside the Strand road clubhouse pulling for tax and insurance

I was in Woodies some day early in the week, didn't go Monday as figured it would be busy so might have been Wed/Thur, anyway there was no queue and I was able to walk straight in, not that busy in there and there is plenty room, the usual screens and markings on the floor.

I think it was around 10.30/11 o'clock when I was there.

In general I won't queue either, if there is a queue I come back another time but having said that I did queue at the Garden Centre last week, was going to leave but thought sure what the hell else have I to do anyway!

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Regional South Moderators Posts: 9,436 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ciarrai76

I needed to go into Mr. Price today but the queue was too long and I couldn't be bothered. I'm in agony with a bad back at the moment, so standing in a queue isn't something I can even do for a long time.

Why is she a bunny boiler?

If she was refused for that then she's right to complain! I don't know anywhere that is insisting you put on hand gel to enter? I usually put it on in the car before I go in. If they are telling her that in one store and not doing it in another then they are making it up as they go along.

I haven't been to Tescos this whole time, so I don't know if what she's saying actually happened, but I would be annoyed too to be fair!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,376 ✭✭✭phormium

Tesco in Manor do ask you to use the sanitiser before going in, I have only been there once briefly, don't know about down town one but there wouldn't be as much room in down town one to be setting up a station like the have in Manor.

As it happened I had used my own as well before going in.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's more to this than she's letting on. A lot of the time it's the case with things like this

I am sure there was more to it! Hard to know!
I Looked at some of the comments on it and it appears the security guard has been slagging her off all over social media.

They have a couple of hand sanitisers on a table inside the door of the Tesco by the square but there is no monitoring and no one says to use it. I do both in and out but I am definitely in a small minority in that store.

They seemed to still be around last Christmas, but I don't know how they are selling them. I think they wanted to compete with the one for all vouchers, but I don't think they really took off. We looked into getting them, but like the one for all voucher, they look for commission on them. Makes no sense for a small business when you can sell your own gift vouchers, and not have to pay any commission.
I don't think anyone has even come into us looking to buy anything with one.

Apparantly they're starting another one of them now  Well they're taking credit for it anyway

The best thing they could do would be partner up with one4all and have a Tralee branded card.
A bit like call cards used promote stuff.
That would be a good thing if the intention is to promote Tralee and spending in Tralee but making money always takes over and things like that are tarnished

Well i think this is for the whole of Kerry, but they just seem to be taking the credit for it

they have every right to refuse admission. as does every retail outlet. you do not have a right to enter a shop. obviously they let most people in but they can tell you leave at any time. I doubt there is anything in consumer legislation that prevents them and the constitution allows for the ownership of property and carry on a business.

Thanks, aware of a business being entitled to do that...I run one ;)

I called her a bunny boiler because instead of contacting the business to complain she goes off on a tangent for all to see and try and gather as much back up as possible .

No better than that Gemma o Doherty bunny boiler..
