I'd start at basic English, if I were you. May help you understand the words on the page.

I nearly posted the same thing. Everyone is in on this guys. No need to be getting nasty.

That's your opinion on the social distancing. Apart from a few snippets in the media and faux outrage on twitter I believe people are. There are always going to be some businesses and individuals who are selfish but there is no evidence that this will result in the country turning into Italy.

Don't tell me what my opinion is. I saw it with my own eyes. You are not going to tell me black is white.

There is ample evidence. Their doctors have warned us. They are not in a position themselves to go back in time.

If you even had an inkling of this country's health system capabilities vs countries with top of the range health care that has now been rendered useless and overun, you wouldn't be spouting nonsense.
Why videos of Italy or Spain? Why not somewhere like South Korea or similar who have been operating on the same guidelines as us and have been somewhat successful in containing this thing.

Because they are the ones with testimonies by the doctors who were dealing with idiots who were more concerned about themselves than the containment of a pandemic.

South Korea did not operate on the guidelines as us. They did things from the start that many other countries didn't. That is why they are a shining example. The extent of which I have already described earlier in this thread, complete with a video for those who have the inability to process words. You should watch it.
That attitude of equating us to the worst case scenarios is a joke. It's a bit like having shortage of grain and showing people a video or the Ethiopian famine.

Gain buy in here. Show people how countries like ourselves with similar policies are being successful. With a message of keep up the good work.

You and your like's bláse and uneducated attitude is what will result in massive overwhelming of the Irish Health care system.

    Good Luck

The virus doesn't care about the "practicalities of life," or the bills you need to pay. They are made up by man and they mean nothing in the face of nature.
Millions in the country care about feeding their kids and paying bills.

Food, shelter and heating are non-negotiables in the face of nature.

Powers should be applied against supermarkets etc letting too many in, not regulating their queues and so on.

They cannot stop people gathering outside, but they certainly can stop businesses creating queues inside their premises. They can legally require all businesses to have handwashing/sanitiser at the entrance.

Decent business have done this, but for the sake of these businesses others must not be allowed take the p|ss.

Look there has clearly been a managed phase to scale back the panic. The last time people took this seriously was March 17th.

We already had the social distance and close the schools phase, whereby people went bananas, and all went to the shopping centre to panic buy, completely missing the point.

I'd expect some form of announcement on critical measures to be announced this week. It'll coincide with numbers coming back from the lab that will hugely escalate the numbers. Then the 40,000 awaiting tests hopefully wont be overcome by large numbers in ICU, because the results will be academic then

I understand.the need for more measures in both of your posts, but a cool level headed approach which is been taking at this moment is sufficient, until the HSE calls it than we take that advise as they're the experts, enforcement of powers will just turn people against each other for supplys of anything available and just add more problems to the situation we already face.

Has anyone suggest we take in all the diggers?

No. That would defeat the self isolating premise.

Grand will it's just that my housemate had her friend with benefits over last night and I don't know where he's been and he was all through the house.

Like, I would imagine at this stage this is not the norm?

Not in favor of a full lockdown!

    German solution makes sense:
Has Germany imposed a total curfew?
No. But more than two people can't be outside together unless they're part of the same household. Going for a walk with a friend is fine, even if you don't live with them, but groups of three or more are forbidden unless you're family or roommates. A minimum distance of "at least 1.5 meters (5 feet), or better yet 2 meters" should be maintained whenever possible, Chancellor Angela Merkel said as she announced the new measures on Sunday.

Not in 1 week 2 weeks whatever, NOW!
While most people are adhering to the health advice you cannot expect the gobshytes like those clowns packing beaches and parks to obey unless they are forced to.
    Shutdown NOW.

Anyone that agrees stick your name below.

    And rate thread as excellent

Personally I would be quite angry with her and at the very least letting her know of my thoughts. That's ridiculous. Besides hasn't see heard that pornhub is letting ppl watch for free? She can go there if needs must!

A question. Do face masks stop you spreading the virus if you have it?

I understand that they may not stop you contracting.

If they stop the spread then why arent govt supplying them to households or why dont they legislate to enforce the wearing of them during thos crisis.
There just aren't enough of them to go around, the frontline people need them more than we do. Give it a week or two and there will be loads available as there are lots regearing to produce them.

Not too happy about it myself tbh, might have have to have a word with her later but I don't want to come off as a prude either.

Being serious here, am I overreacting?

No you are not!!! She is clearly one of these who thinks herself above the world. If she wont listen go to the landlord and complain. She could be risking other tenants.

No you are not overreacting, they are possibly in denial about this, and so is the fwb....possibly need to explain the seriousness of this virus and how important it is for all of us to observe social distancing, our lives are in our hands and how we behave, you I am pretty sure know this, your flat mate needs to be educated on this...remember there is no such thing as a bad pupil, only a bad teacher...(my motto :) ) Be gentle....

Also if she fights back and says she wants to be with them, insist they go to the other persons place.

It really is way, way too long with far too many graphs. Enough material in there for for six articles! The summary at the top and that graph will do most folks.

Yeah I'm only over 2 weeks in this place (they are Spanish) and I myself go for a run but in isolated areas but I don't have anyone calling over, not even relatives.

Then brings it back with them, no, she should be self isolating like everyone else. It is people like this that are the problem, not the rest of us that are tolerating almost zero human contact and trying not to go up the walls...

Oh I've been through it and it's really poorly laid out and broken up every few sentences by larger text or a graph. And with respect to the effort he put in he never expands much beyond that summary anyway. In short, it's not a great piece of writing.

I'd prefer the new German rules to a complete lockdown but stories like this make a lockdown more of an option for the government

How would a lockdown stop this? The Guards currently have the power to break this up and did.

Some people seem to think a lock-down will involve the army going around shooting people. We don't have enough soldiers for a start, and they currently have better things to be doing than policing the country.

The only thing a lockdown will do is force the law-abiding citizens to do what they are already doing. Worse, it will lead to untold health impacts.

We have to follow the medical advice, not the advice from Twitter.
