I've never seen so much manure being shared on WhatsApp. Saw a message that said to stop taking nuerefon as its ingredients react negatively with the virus. Another message said that come Tuesday, shops will only be open for a few hours everyday and queues will be restricted to 100 (doesn't even make sense, will there be a queue for the queue). It also mentioned the Army and to get people into even more of a frenzy, it said to stock up on bottled water and baby supplies.

Not only are people are widely sharing this ****e, they're believing it. Hell mend them.

been climbing steadily since 3 march which was over 3%. China was always 2-4% during its worst. Think spain and France going that way as well

I'm surprised they are not showing more of the recovered or recovering stories. I think that would help.

That doesn’t make for sensational news though.

And they will have to collect their payments from the cramped post office which I do every week ! They dont allow automated payments for JSA only illness benefit. So are the thousands on JSA to go to the postie from tommorow on to collect cash thats madness

No, in fairness to the Government they have set up an employer refund scheme. So long as employers can pay laid off employees €203 per week, they can claim it back from SW. This eliminates the need for individuals to claim JSB.

They are not testing you? (Frontline workers will be very precious in the coming week, it seems like using a test to discard the virus and hopefully have you back earlier would be worth it)

Best wishes to you and your colleagues for the tough times ahead.

I can't understand why people are talking about the army getting involved?.

Sure what are they going to do! Farcical. The general public again being shown up as idiots

Another thing that worries me is the reality of economics and how it isn't as simple as people think just to shut down various places.

All these at risk groups such as the elderly, disabled etc rely on benefits to keep them alive. If non essentials roles are locked down I don't know what will happen to these things with a reduced tax rate that will make the recession look like a laugh

Gardai, healthcare workers etc may volunteer to keep working without pay but what about the various supplies needed to aid them.

As said this is coming from my view that a 2/3/4 week lockdown is grand in theory but I'm astonished at the amount of people I've been talking to that believe this magically means it will allow the virus to "blow over" once lockdown is lifted it only takes a handful to start another blitz of it again

Can we handle possible months of continuous lockdowns? I don't know

Zero new confirmed cases in the USA in the last 24 hours, according the today's WHO Situation Report. Confirmed is .post definitely the operative word.

Those are good numbers. Very good numbers. People are working tremendously hard to get to the best numbers. The best!

As a kid up until maybe 4 year's ago I wondered if at a time in my lifetime will we have a world wide crisis and how we can cope.

I can only stress we're all in it together, even if we're broke after a few weeks and living on welfare, we'll all be in the same boat and pretty much equal.

Im going to catch up with my fishing, surfing and hiking.
Family are all married except myself and I'm going it alone.
Ironically one of my best friends has Multiple sclerosis and the other has immunity problems, so its best we just stay in contact through the phone.

I've nothing against drinkers and junkies being honest I was one myself up until 2003 and I got clean and sober.
Off it all 17 years, it doesn't mean that I am better than anyone else but I try to be a better person for my friends and family.

It just gall led me hearing about people out drinking in pubs etc but honestly if I was still drinking and drugging there would be a COVIT 19 party at my place and I probably wouldn't give a fck.

So I can identify with people who want to socialise and party its not because they want to harm anyone its because they just want to get out and about.
If that's their thing so be it.

I can tell you exactly what the main element is going to be because it has been done in Germany already.

The front section of the bus will be sealed off so passengers do not walk by or interact with the driver. Middle doors only used instead.

Dublin bus drivers have an advantage over most other companies as the drivers are isolated as it is. They dont handle cash, like bus eireann do.

As someone working in healthcare until recently, what worries me is this lockdown is well and good but unless one of the various vaccines and medications we're hearing daily of is deployed and works,

As someone who worked in healthcare, you should know waiting for a vaccine won't be the solution this problem. The steps being taken will hopefully ensure Health services are not overwhelmed, and the virus can be managed over time.

Did anyone catch the special on BBC News channel from Wuhan?
A travel blogger from there documented his day to day life as he volunteered along with others to distribute medicine to those who couldn't get to hospital. HIV patients were donating their medication to the infected to help fight it. There was a massive amount of volunteers driving around suited up distributing medicine.
It's not surprising that they managed to get control over things, virtually everything was locked down and the place was like a ghost town with every route out blocked by police.

Pear head of capita Ireland has received more funding from the EU than any other EU member.
About time some of the other EU members had there share

Yes I am. I'm all for funding other countries but only if they uphold the values of the rest of the EU. The EU, many EU governments and citizens are very concerned about what's going on in Hungary and Poland. But it's all just impotent rage. If it's tied into Euros, we might be able to force them into line.

Are standard dust masks of any use or a waste of time if going down the shops?

They’re not much use as they don’t filter out viruses. Make a tshirt mask. It’s about as useful plus you look like an anarchist badass

All you have to to is take any T-shirt, put it your head inside it, put the neck hole where your eyes are and tie the arms into a knot at the back of your head

Easy, quick, stops you from touching your face and it looks wierd so it makes everyone near you avoid you thus creating automatic social distance

Yes the infection rate from this thing is going to be far higher than we were led to believe. I think the death toll will be too. Europe in particular and most likely all of the world outside China and Taiwan is going to be hammered.

Yes, wife is nurse have stayed indoors all last week and weekend now, trying to protects us as best I can. She's back to work tomorrow though.
Dreading it for her and fear she picks it up gets sick and daughter gets it.

      That's a strange statistic. Not 70% no? ;)

Why are they at home hiding?
