Leaders like Greta, your in for a bad time if you buy into that cult. Your house will be fine it's not going to burn down any time soon.

The world is burning, literally, just look at Australia, their houses are burning. I suggest buy a dingy and a life ring, most of urban Ireland will be underwater in a couple of decades.

Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg caused a stir at the United Nations on Monday with her blistering criticism of world leaders' inaction on climate change. The following is an edited transcript of her remarks.

    ....

Twas humour btw. But yeah the written transcript doesn't really reflect the absolute tantrum she had in front of the adults in the room that day :pac:

This is worrying. But what's more worrying are the idiot commenters!
It's incredible that any article on climate change on the Journal has about 90% saying it's all bullsh*t.

The denial on the Journal needs to be addressed. Middle aged white men who also hate women no doubt, one of the main reasons our planet is dying and our children will have no future.

I look a the the house I bought in a nice part of Dublin by the sea knowing it will be underwater before I get to pass it on. It is like a sword hanging over my head. Ironically me and my neighbours are all listening to the science and voting green.

Saroise McHughs latest articles in the Journal is a clarion call to climate action. She gives me hope. She is a leader we need. She is relentless in her quest to spread the message. Her very eloquent article about the climate emergency was trolled by hoards of deniers, sickening to see. About time these types have their dangerous and ignorant opinions classified as hate speech, we need legislative action to deal with them.

Wow that's some extreme misanthropy right there. Delighted to see that not only can you determine the gender of all those posting on journal.ie - but that you can determine their age and skin colour as well. And that they most likley hate women!

I'm sure a lot of middle age men have children as well not just the woke alarmists?

Absolutely love you want other peoples opinions classed as hate speech btw. I think they tried that in the former USSR. It really worked there ...

Behold him, ladies and gentlemen. This is how civilization will perish - not by the climate, nor by the hydrogen fusion bomb, nor yet by the hordes of hard-faced men from the East, but by the scared little man with a house full of harridans by the sea. :pac:

Harridans? Excuse me, but did I say anything about women living with me? Why do you jump to conclusions about the gender of the people I live with before using a antiquated sexiest term to describe them. As I said, denialists also tend to hate women and your post is testament to this.

"Denialists" - magic! I have absolutely no idea whether you're a parody or not - well-hit, Chief! :pac::pac::pac:

What would you call it? I think it is hateful to spread poisonous anti-science ideas that could potentially infect the minds of children. Hate speech legislation should most definitely be enacted to include speech that is contrary to the greater good. We need deny those who are hindering the call to climate action a platform, any platform, and the sooner the better. The traditional media has weeded out denial for the most part, time for social media to do the same. Laws are needed so there can be a standardised approach.

I feel it my duty to inform you that we are in a new century with global challenges, first and foremost is the climate emergency. Glib comments about Nazi Germany and the USSR are typically used to distract by deniers, I have seen them all over Facebook. Thankfully most right thinking people are beginning to realise that sacrifices must be made if we are to stop this planet from becoming a lifeless rock.

I find it strange that a lot of the people who say you are being "anti-science" if you ask questions about the severity of climate change, are the same people who say a man can biologically turn into a woman.

And I will do everything in my power to end the influence of people who wish to persuade the State to label differing opinions as "Hate Speech" or any of this American college-campus crap. And congratulations on being a self-appointed Right-Thinker. Orwell would have loved that.

Now I'm going to leave it there before I say something I shouldn't. Good day to you.

Ironically the Nazis themselves championed renewable energy, organic farming and land use planning in manner that has yet to be matched by any government in the world who are proposing mitigating mechanisms for dealing with climate change issues. Hitler himself was an ardent vegetarian. You don't have to imagine people are being glib with their Nazi comments- sometimes a little history lesson doesn't go astray. Certainly the Nazi regime was evil beyond belief- they did, however, subscribe to many of the policies being extolled by the environmentalists of today.

It was a very evil time in history- that most of us don't care to learn from. The whole point of history is that we learn not to repeat the mistakes of the past. This salient point seems to be lost on many people.

You are attacking people based on age, sex and skin colour? You shouldnt assume anything let alone that they hate anyone. I sort of get the sexism and ageism you are pulling mentioning age and sex but I am totally baffled on the skin colour. Id ask you stop racialising a totally non racial issue.

Very little of Dublin is going underwater. The IPCC predicts about a metre of sea level rise by 2100. A metre! This means worse storms and some land loss but the city is not going underwater.

You do know the origin of the phrase rightthink?

While I agree with your view of climate change as our biggest challenge, the need to vote Green, freedom of speech and freedom to dissent are core to our rights.

In fact, if we hadn't had such freedoms, the orthodox scientific view of a cooling world would never have been challenged.

don't know what all the above 'hate speech' threads refer to.

But that fine, v.good, little Act 'Incitement to Hatred', that we have, is a fine little Act.

It is true - that very, very, few prosecutions have got through on this; but I believe that might be because of the deliberate negligence of solicitors, (and, are most of this profession now f.f.?, - see the Capel Building, D.1, wriggling with f.f.).

That being said; (and if that is so), it creates the perfect excuse for 'aer worthy politicians to shower acres of time to making an interminable, massive, new Act; that basically will be a dog's dinner; and that will need the setting up of an entire Commission (votes), to oversee same.

As irritating as I find her, she is only a young girl, and it's the people behind her who should hang their heads in shame. I can't see it ending well for her. In years to come everyone will be asking "hey, whatever happened to Greta Thunberg?" and it'll be a sad story. She'll eventually realise what attention seekers her parents are and grow to resent them.
Although maybe none of that will happen seen as the world is going to end in 12 years.

Without faulting anyone, in all likelihood Greta is an attention seeker herself having inherited her parents DNA, and of course being schooled in misbehaviour by dysfunctional parents, who took her childhood away.

The funny thing about Greta is the way she goes on about "I'm just saying listen to the scientists"

So my question is, why are we listening to a kid telling us to do something when the scientists have been talking about climate change for decades? Al Gore has been saying listen to scientists for decades...no one cared.

So why oh why are people suddenly listening to what a kid has to say? Even the smartest of people must surely recognise they are being played by those using a child to get what they want. Ah yes, let's throw out a frail, scrawny, disabled kid who always has their hair in plats to con people.

Great is 17 now and she looks like an 11 year old. Must be that vegan diet.

The bestselling German book Look Who's Back has Hitler returning to modern Germany, becoming a TV personality and identifying the Greens as the party truest to his policies. There's a Netflix film of it that's pretty funny.

Obviously saying modern Greens are Nazis because Hitler shared their concern for the environment is as facile as saying non-smokers are Nazis because he was. It is a curious link though.

Pretty sure Paddygreen's taking the mick btw. The bits obsessing about gender and race and humbragging about his plush seaside home smell like deliberate outrage fodder.

Plush, no. Sustainable, yes..or at least until it is claimed by the Irish Sea, as will be the end result for countless homes in Dublin, which is a coastal city btw.

Race and gender are both components of Climate Justice, in case you didn't know.
