I have the same image as you and I have changed the skin to metric hd so my box almost matches your set up. Do this and say what happens as I cant understand your symbols. with box on press ok, then arrow up ie arrow above ok. Now along bottom of screen you should see red, green, yellow and blue. its the green button you need, press green and watch the word change it may say simple or extended, you need it to say extended, it will then list all the satellites that box can receive, using arrows move along until you find 28 east and press ok. this will now list all the channels that are in box, some will have no names so arrow right until you find bbc one hd, kung fu panda. now you have sat back.

    report back

ps i hope you have not messed with tuner configuration

@swoofer thanks man! Regarding the "symbols", after your steps, the selection at the top in the "symbols" says <FTA TV D Astra>. I'm not sure what was unset as each step you mentioned seemed to be ok, but all bac now.

Do you use they same system as @gerry_wicklow to do your favourites?

Is there any list available of all the unscrambled channels that are available in the 100s?

@boardtc have you tried to access you HDD from a PC over the network? It should show up in a Windows PC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,834 ✭✭✭swoofer

I start with basic image and then add what I want. I'm not overly fussed about favourites or channel numbers. I watch NEWS, sport and Films, mostly sport. I use crosspeg and autobouqets 28east. Its set up for london HD.

To play with these type of boxes you need 2 of them, one to watch tv and the other to get it all set up. Have you tried pressing the coloured buttons and see what pops up.
If I want to see all the FTA channels I use this.
    https://en.kingofsat.net/freqs.php?&pos=28.2E&standard=All&ordre=freq&filtre=Clear&cl=eng

And when you are on a channel, press ok then arrow up, along bottom it should say favourites blue button, press it and if configured all the bouquets appear, if only one line arrow up as screen rolls over.

when I use favourites button I get an entry that says Sky Uk Freesat and that has all the FTA channels listed.

Can you say what you are trying to achieve? I might be able to get a better idea.

@Gerry_Wicklow currently I have no permanent ethernet connection to the box so no, I hope to have that setup soon. What's the advantage of accessing my passport (hard drive) over the network?

@swoofer, 2 boxes! Thanks for the link to the channels. What do I want to do with the box? I wish to have a list of channels that I might watch to scroll through. Currently, there is so much noise with all the channels that it's hardly been used. I'll play with the coloured buttons now that you have told me. I don't really know what crosspeg, bouqets is so I need to spend more time with the box to figure things out and make it usable. Once I have a net connection sorted I'll try and figure out Kodi.

Any other e2 box and pc can access your hdd to play recordings elsewhere, utilities should list samba and click to enable it and it should see your mounted hdd then.
    ....................................................................................
I normally scan sat box as not got saorview running yet to give me an all list A - Z listings.
crossepg i call it my tv times listing for a week.
bouquets i would use autobouquetmaker to give you special folders for all types/groups of channels, movies, sports, news and many others.
kodi i dont use on e2 box but use android boxes for that.

    ......

You were asking about copying someone else's channels lists (bouquets). If you found the web interface, Webif, too tedious it is possible to access the files directly from your network. With care and guidance you could conceivably change things that way instead.

BTW the name Webif just means it uses web protocols. It doesn't need an internet connection to work only a connection to your home network.

Ok you may know this already but as an enigma 2 box the normal method of working is to have the box hooked up to the internet. Then when you have flashed an image and set up network you amend the image for your needs. This is done through plugins, so if you press green button an your box it should take you to plugin browser and it will list the plugins already installed in the image. To get to the rest of the plugins you need to be hooked up to the internet and press green button. This in effect gives you access to all the bits and bobs that are needed to run the box to its ultimate.

So you can have autobouquets for 28 e as a plugin and configure it to suit.

You have a nice tv guide called crossepg and configured to suit.

So to have box as a bog standard free to air receiver, you need:

    1. An image. 2 a channel listing. 3 autobouquets maker, groups channels under headings like, news, sport, films, entertainment, specialist, religious and so on. You can edit these and have just one heading. ie FREE TO VIEW, move all your channels to that heading and delete all the rest
    4. a programme guide, ie epg and thats crossepg.

Thats it, however its a steep learning curve .

as for kodi leave it alone.

    Hi all,

I have sorted all issues on my Formuler F1 box except recording. As before, the HDD is initialised and formatted, etc. The setup can see it by name (Silicone Power) and this is elected under recording/timeshift settings. BUT, whenever I try to record, although the box seems to be recording (red colour on the channel being recorded, on-screen warning " a recording is about to start",etc), when I check Playlist, there is nothing there. Surely there's an easy way to fix this ?

Double check your hdd is listed in mounts and is ext4 R/W which is what recordings use.On my e2 box i can press a list button which brings up all locations of boxes in use and access my recordings via yellow button to where i see everything.
Box will usually ask if you want to format=erase everything on hdd.
Hdd or usb need to be setup as ext4 to allow it to record properly.

    Greasepalm,

What would be the correct settings in mounts ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

You should see your device name in mounts and it should say name as ext 4R/W,if not go into storage device and select your device and initialize device from ext 3 to ext 4 and let it run and recheck then in mounts it shows as ext4 R/W

Hi, this is what I see in "mount manager". It's the only mount. What do I need to change ?

Go into storage devices and initialise it and see it says anything underneath, can you post up a screenshot.

I think you went in through network as when i go that route it looks the same as yours.
Try going into mount manager not through network.

Mounts settings are in the Network submenu. I initialised it but saw nothing. When initialisation finished it just went to the TV channel again.

Ok bottom corner press red button to initialise and see what happens. My openvix image has 2 routes and different ways from network i can mount all other boxes on my network.
Go in through the storage devices.

11671 H 22000 but it wont allow me to reset 22000 to 23000. I have done this on an edision box no problem. Any ideas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,834 ✭✭✭swoofer

    what image are you using?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

I had no issue adding the new details on my F1. I even posted a screengrab elsewhere to show someone the new settings. I'm on openATV 6.3

@Gerry was that not for the hd version that moved recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

Naturally. Why would you want an SD version when HD is freely available. Martin had issues with the 23000 setting which is for HD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

    Thanks Gerry sorted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

Swoofer no sure what image I'm using. Follow Gerry's screen grab and was able to change symbol rate to 23000

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

menu-info-about will show what image is on box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

    openATV 6.1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

That is very old as latest is 6.3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

so how do I update to 6.3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I did a new install on an older box not supported and now back and running with a fresh install.
    new images.

    http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/index.php?open=tiviaraplus

Might not be any harm for others to answer if you have to store any special folders/files to pc before reflashing and setting up from scratch or using a modded info as in the early post threads.

Just keep 6.1 as they say if it works dont fix it. I have 6.1 as well and no worries in the Tiviar. You only need to update if the old one becomes corrupt or the newer one has some whizzo of a new feature.

I have mine set up with plugins, wi fi, auto bouquets, iptv, skin, 4 tuners, picons, favourites and so on. It would take me ages to do all that again so I'm staying with 6.1.
