Do you only have a fixed sat at 28.2 or multiple feeds from other sats or motorised?
Fixed tuner shows both tuners setup correctly,do you have sky q as that uses a different lnb.

I am using the Sky satellite. It has a hybrid LNB on it, 2 pairs into my attic, one used for Sky Q, the other I want to use with the F1. I am testing the F1 on the Sky Q pair as I know I have a signal. Have I setup correctly on the F1?

this is what you need, when you go to tuners the first line says simple, you change it with the arrows, now arrow down to next line and chnage that until it says single, press geen to save, do same for b and save. now go to automatic scan and press ok.

I cant view your images, if your tuners are set as above then as explained earlier you need to go to signal finder to see if box is getting a signal.

A bit more I'm assuming you have openatv image and i have that image, i have 2 feeds as well and there are 2 further lines under tuner config, one says send diseq make that no, use arrows,

next one says force legacy signal sats, also have no, same on both tuners

To get version of the image go menu mne, then information, then about, it will show name in big print and then the version just above the word kernel..

I hope you are sure you are using the lnb with the 6 outputs!!

@swoofer, thanks very much for helping me. I tried to follow your instructions but it did not work out for me.

    I have Open ATV 6.1 Build 0 Date 20171104154750.

When I go into Tuner config I now have:
    Config Mode: Simple
    Mode: Single
Satellite: Nothing connected (removed 28.2 I had tried as you said)
    Send DiSEqC: No

When I save this it says are you sure, I go yes and it goes back out and says nothing is configured for that tuner. I go back in and it says nothing configure, one press of the arrows rights shows the 4 settings above, so it looks like it considers that as not configured. It seems I have to pick something for the satellite field.

I guess I am doing something wrong?

If I get this running I will write installation steps up for a post here, I can't believe the F1 comes with no instructions.

I'm not sure about the 6 inputs LNB I can double check with the sky guy if needs be.

ok we are nearly there, I have exact same image BUT as you will find out there are aslo different skins and these can change some layouts ie menus so just do this now.

go to tuner config and tuner A should look like this, ie make it like this

    simple
    single
    28.2eastra2e/2f/2g
    send diseq no
force legacy signal stats no ( you may not have this entry so you will have to say if there is something else.)

press green to save. make tuner B look the exact same and save. now go to signal finder and the first tuner opens is tuner A and this has a predefined transponder for 28east, just pause and with luck the snr top line will fill up and show a percentage higher the better, use arrow to change to b tuner.

if you dont get a signal check cables, reboot box and if nothing that LNB sounds dodgy.

i use a SLYK skin by kiddac.

to check your skin go menu, usage& gui , skin setup, if it only says default then only one skin.

bejaysus! 969 channels or something in!! I don't have force legacy signal stats no option or other. I've returned the main TC to sky and know O have a working F1 box. now I got to get the other LNB connected, fingers crossed

I had a hunch you had sky q as your cables on lnb only for sky q box but other feeds elsewhere will work on f1.

For simplicity set tuner B equal to tuner A

Hope I get to try those things ye are suggesting. First I need to patch the LNB to the kitchen.

Right, so on my patch panel I swapped the 2 spare coming from LNB with the 2 working ones and Sky still worked, confirming the 2 spare LNB are good.

I have connected a long cable from coax socket in the kitchen to 2nd tv, just one of the pair, haven't a second wired up. I turned on TV & F1 and it was set to channel 4, SNR 0% on bottom, which I think means no signal. I was not sure how I could use the satellite finder to help in the end. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O0YA868.

So I then tried all 22 ports on the patch panel 1 by 1, each time I went back to tv, went into the guide, oked on channel 4, nothing. I then took the 2nd coax from the LNB pair and went through all 22 ports with that. Nothing. Damn. I must have something not wired up. I assume channel 4 should just start up if the signal was coming in.

On post 322 video shows the hybrid and where those 2 feeds go for sky q,if you dont have sky q anymore use the other 4 feeds for other boxes, you dont need a meter as its set on 28.2.

Bit lost on the patch as dont understand what it is or is it lan switch?

Lnb feeds go direct to receiver no splitters.

LNBs from attic come to 24 port patch, only 2 of which are wired (to sitting room) other ports and unnumbered and not terminated in any rooms. In the kitchen, I have wired one of the coaxes and am trying to find which patch port it matches too :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭boardtc

I tried all 44 options on the patch panel manually, none :-( I managed to find a guy to come out to the house. He had a cable tracker, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00D9IKF32, that was the secret. It turned out the ports I needed were on the same level as the input ports, I wrongly assumed all of them were input only. So 50 euros later it's working.

@Gerry Wicklow - reset tuner B to be equal to A
@greasepalm - going into positioner setup still gives the same error message
@swoofer - in skin setup I have Metrix HD selected (only 1 other than default)

Does the F! have wifi? Probably not. So I need to hook up an ethernet cable to get S/w upgraded and an EPG?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

Glad to see you're going in the right direction.
The EPG comes via the dish, no net connection needed. However it is needed for s/w updates and access to the Webif. Webif allows you to control the box and view live or recorded shows on anything with a web browser anywhere in your home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭boardtc

Great Gerry, why is my EPG empty? What do I need to do? Would you recommend a software upgrade?
I believe I can add a transponder somewhere, 10906, to pick up ITV, any advice on how to do that on the F1?
    Thanks, everyone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

Don't rush to upgrade anything until you have it working right first. Baby steps :)

    As for EPG:-

MENU>SETUP>EPG>CROSSEPG>OPENTV> click on "Sky UK 28E" which should get a tick icon >GREEN to Save
next go back out to CONFIGURE> set storage device to your HDD (NOT internal flash)
Enable SCHEDULED DOWNLOAD and set a suitable time during the night.
Back out and if you wish hit DOWNLOAD NOW to test.

If you cant find CrossEPG under the EPG menu you might need to install it. Go to PLUGIN>GREEN (download plugins) and find CrossEPG under SYSTEMPLUGINS. Obviously you need a web connection for this bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭boardtc

Ok. CrossEPG was not there. Through various extensions, I managed to get just close enough to a 5m LAN line form my router. I got it under SystemPlugins. Going back to EPG Setup I select CrossEPG _but_ internal flash is the only option configure. From your other posts here I see you need to connect a hard drive. I have some old noisy ones that I would prefer not to listen to so, for now, I connected my passport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

No internal HDD in the F1. It needs an external USB HDD. The small portable laptop ones are best rather than a USB key.
EDIT: As always when you get the bouquets etc set the way you like, make sure to create a backup of the settings and a "full backup" on your HDD. Use the BLUE button to find the options

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭boardtc

Yeah, I have the WD passport connected for now.
I have little setup but will look into backup, good idea.
UTV is there so maybe ITV channels come on Astra 28.2 now.

Is there a way to add favourites to make the EPG navigation usable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I dont like passport hdd as they could have issues but prefare an externally powered desktop hdd

Ok, have had my passport for years with no issues. I have a number of old (10+ years) external hard drives that work grand but are noisy, unlike the passport.

I have 2 queries if any one can help.
    1. I did a 'Flash on the Fly' to open ATV 6.2, i can't get my picons working again, any ideas
    2. Is there a way to add Acestream player as an addon?

Create your own bouquet called favourites using webif.
There are several ITV1 regions available in HD as well as ITV2, 3, and 4 in SD and their +1s. likewise CH4 and CH5 in HD. See here for details if you need them. UTV HD , STV HD and S4C HD can be useful for some sports.

    A little help here?
For the life of me, I can not figure out.
A SIMPLE movie / file browser.
    similar to AA2+
All the plugins I've tried are a bit too much.

    . . .

downgrading the AA2 to the kitchen.
OATV is not cutting the mustard,
wanna keep things simple for the transition.
... I don't wanna here the moans from the others in the house.

Do you mean you are looking for your stored recordings if so on remote should be a " list " button to access all your recordings.

Not sure about this. It's certainly not plug and play. We lost all the channels today. It's still configured correctly tuner wise. I found the <> buttons on the remote which change the satellite freq/channels. I'm not sure why they are available since I have set tuning to 28.2. What should be selected here to get the channels back?

Can you recommend an EPG which has built-in favourites and no option to change satellites so I can set it up so it can't be broken?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I find it hard to see how you lose all channels like sat and saorview,is this on the all channel list assuming you scanned sat and saorview and not on autobouquetmaker and bouquet had a failure?

Best to also check in signal finder you are getting a signal from saorview/aerial and sat cable to lnb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭boardtc

Thanks. I don't have Saorview. They are probably not lost. Can some F1 user tell me what I should have selected in the <> menu? Depending on what I select there none of the channels is visible. Currently, it says Last Scanned (about 20 channels there, 1 with always-on game show only one working), if I got < it's "HD Austria", > is "FTA TV D Astra". Spent a lot of time trying to figure it out yesterday to no avail., any advice from an F1 user appreciated.

That channel is on another sat 19.2, you are suppose to be on 28.2 if box shows 28.2 dish has moved or your second tuner is setup on another dish pointing to 19.2?

Thanks. Yes, I know that's my problem. Do you know what <> option should be selected? Set unusable now.

You have not said what you tuner set up is does it say 28.2 or 19.2?
    Freesat uses 28.2.
