But there are more infill sites now in the digital era.

Will mean changing position of aerial. The aerial is polarization Horz. can it be
turned to polarization Vert. or do I need to change it.

Still no go on connecting to wifi but internet is working with homeplugs. I have connected a hard disk which is set up on the box but I cannot find the items whih were recorded. There seems to be no section within the menu options for recordings. Is there some kind of plug-in I need to download for this ?

Recordings will be in /media/hdd/movie or /media/usb/movie depending on where your storage is mounted

Most e2 box remotes come with a button for direct link to recordings. On wifi is it a proper supported device and any drivers needed from plugins?

    Gerry Wicklow,

Thanks sgain for your previous advice. I have attached, formatted and initialised a HDD to the F1 box and it records as set. When I press "playlist", there is just a black screen and no sign of recorded items. Any idea where I'm going wrong ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,991 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Is your hdd showing ext3-ext4 as been setup correctly?
pressing the list button should bring up a list of recordings on hdd and going up or down list to choose select the item you want and it should play + it should have a time length of recording say 67 mins? if 00 its a failed recording or if blank you might be recording an encrypted program.

Hi all, I am still seeing no recordngs when I press "playlist". Can anyone advise a step-by-step process to fix this ? Thanks.

Is the default playlist showing the right location? Does it match the file directory you have for recordings and timeshift under settings?

My one use to default to the USB pen drive rather than the HDD I had attached. If this is the case you can use the menu to change the directory where the playlist searches for recordings

Where's the best place to get this box? Looks like it has been discontinued.

Get the Tiviar Alpha instead, big thread about it here

    This might help.
They refer to openVix but the same technique would apply to all images

    This has happened me also.

I reflashed using openatv and works fine but when I restart the box Run Alpha + displays again.

Did anyone get this issue and manage to get it working again?

Unplug the usb as it's booting

Unplug the usb as it's booting

Thanks for the quick reply. At what stage exactly?when it's loading to 100 or during the flash process?

Once you've flashed you need to boot without the USB inserted otherwise it will try and flash every time it boots as it will see the update files on the usb. This box should be left running and just put in standby when not in use.

I purchased a Formuler F1 last year but gave up on setting it up due to complications of getting LNB to it :(

I just took it into the main room tonight. The documentation with the unit & online at https://www.formuler.tv/f1 is slim.

I unscrewed the 2 LNBs from the skybox and put them into the Formuler. I went into Services and did a scan. Noting was found  I know Sky uses Astra so a bunch of stuff should be picked up.

It's a Sky Q Box so I think the LNB on the dish might be proprietary as I saw him change it? I asked the sky install guy to run a second pair of the LNB - this is the one I have been having issue to route to my 2nd TV. Would the second one be proprietary two or are the dish LNBs setup separately?

It depends on the type of LNB fitted.
If it is a win output Sky Q LNB then I don't believe it will work with the receiver.

If it is a multi output LNB then any two outputs should work with it.

@Johnboy1951 thanks, that reminds me I did ask him last year to fit a multi-output LNB. So would the sky q one be proprietary and the other LNB not in that case?

Hopefully you said you also had freesat boxes which need to work also and had a hybrid fitted like above?

Sound. That's the LNB the sky engineer installed!
I have the F1 box only.

It looks like both the LNBs are the same so. The F1 should be picking up the Astra channels so, right. What am I missing?

On the hybrid LNB the connections are grouped 2 Q and 4 normal. Connecting the F1 to any of the normal outputs and scanning Astra 28east should find ~950 channels on a blind scan.

What image do you have on the box and did you configure the tuners A and B? I know its sounds obivous but you may have forgotten.

say image and we can take it from there. That looks a nice box.

Reports from those who have tested the hybrid LNB say that all six can be used for standard tuners.

Maybe only two can be used for Sky Q which would explain the separation of those two from the others.

If he only has 2 cables for use for the sky Q box he will need other feeds for other freesat boxes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

I have successfully used former Sky Q feeds on other stuff BUT who knows how the F1 would treat them. In this case I thought it would be best to start with known elements for fault hunting.

Thanks everyone! I have the double feed to the sky box and then another double feed that I need to route to the 2nd TV via an unnumbered patch panel. I'm hoping to use this CSL sat finder https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O0YA868 to find the correct port.

Great to hear that the sky feed should be fine!

Not obvious to me, the box comes with no instructions  I have not changed the image, I guess in setup it will tell me somewhere what's setup. I think I went through basic setup last year. When I hooked it to the working sky LNB yesterday all I did was try a scan. Does anyone have instructions on configuring the tuners, maybe it's done but I am unsure as there are no instructions and I have not done this before?

Thanks! Going into that says no no tuner configured for use with diseqc positioner. I went into tuner configuration and nothing was set. I googled Astra and set A & B to 28.2 E Astra 2E/2f/2G:

Sorry, it's blurry my camera phone is not great.

When I go back into Positioner setup I get the same message. What settings do I need to pick?
