Whataboutery. But seeing as you are indulging in whataboutery and bringing Mcguinness in to it, perhaps you could clarify which person lost 6 members of his close family in different attacks, and which person was a member of a paramilitary organisation back in the day?

Are there not garda accusations of willie frazer being a member of a loyalist terrorist group?

"LOVE ULSTER LEADER and victims campaigner Willie Frazer has died of cancer aged 58. Frazer was a long-time campaigner for victims of republican violence during The Troubles.

He was a lead organiser of the Love Ulster campaign, which in 2006 had to abandon a march in Dublin due to serious violence (by those who opposed the march)"

The march in Dublin was sanctioned by Dublin City council, it also got the green light from the Irish authorities & the Gardai.

The reason the march was accommodated in the 1st place was in part to show that our Capital city was a tolerant, open, and fully inclusive city (Like London).

The violence & rioting against the Dublin march was obviously planned and orchestrated by Republican sympathisers, probably the very type of people who would have supported IRA/Republican violence during the Troubles.

The Dublin/Irish authorities were idiots to allow it. Played into Fraser's hands. I'd say he was beside himself with delight when it kicked off.
While there were likely Republicans you can be assured many people saw the march for what it was. Nobody buys the premise of a peaceful parade. It was to stick to the Irish for a reaction and our authorities should have known better. Then you have criminals taking advantage. Footlocker wasn't raided for the cause. N.I. can do with one less clown.

Willie Frazers father was far from an innocent victim he was a member of the Glennane gang and he is believed to have murdered 2 innocent GAA fans at a bogus checkpoint a week before he was killed.

He was refused a gun licence for that exact reason in the North.

...and of course the sad thing is that the Love Ulster victims (those murdered by Republicans) have all but been forgotten in all this drama about Willie Frazer's character :(

No more so than the vast majority of the other victims of the conflict/war. We seem to only concentrate on those than can arouse most sensational sympathy, in fact many here exploit victims for sensational purposes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭Hamsterchops

I'm not talking about those who arouse the most sensational sympathy.... I'm actually thinking of all the ordinary victims of the Troubles from both sides. People who were snuffed out in a flash (or a loud bang)....

    'Ordinary' victims...weird term.
But, yes...most of the victims, the vast majority of them on both sides are largely forgotten.

    'Ordinary' victims...weird term.

Ordinary people on the way to Tesco's or getting into a car who fell victim to a bomb or crossfire. People going about their ordinary lives who fell victim to a an attack of one kind or another (from either side). All victims of the Troubles.

I always got a great laugh off his rants

This. Mad as a box of frogs. The memes were brilliant. Still, may he rot. Campaigns for innocent victims, yet the family homestead was the HQ of the glennane gang!? Good enough for the cûnt if you ask me.

Because of people like you, and those on this thread who would condone the 6 members of his family and others being murdered, it is safe to say there will not be a united Ireland for another generation or two at least.

You haven't a clue about me mate. I'm all for a united Ireland and one that is inclusive of all the people of this island. That's the only way it can work. Frazer was a dangerous individual that fed off the division, fear and hatred that dragged our country through some terrible years. Luckily he did not have much of a mandate for his moronic and provocative actions.

    Extraordinary?

Francis has more time and sympathy for the paramilitaries who murdered / bombed, than for the victims of these paramilitaries or any of their spokespeople. Says it all.

I never tell lies, Francis. And unlike certain others, I always condemned the paramilitaries on both sides. Others - Not looking at anyone in particular- just condemn the paramilitaries on one side.

I don't play the condemnation game at all Jan.

There should never have been a conflict on this island at all. I do blame those who caused the conflict and those responsible for creating a fair and equal society.

    So you were telling lies....again.

If the worst crime he ever committed was obstructing traffic in a public place, then he was a saint compared to some people in SF for example.

Evasion. You claimed he was never suspected of a crime. He was suspected of at least two. He was also refused a firearms licence because he was an associate of paramilitarys. He also had to resign from his own charity because of dodgy book keeping.

Except you do. You always condemn the British, the Unionists etc. Like Gerry Adams, you do not play the condemnation game at all, lol. He says he was not in the PpIRA , most people including some people who were in the pIRA think he was. He does not play the condemnation game at all either.

Diversion. All that was gone in to before. Most people in N Ireland would be refused a licence for a handgun, not just Willie Frazer. Gun laws are much stricter in the UK than in America, for example, no bad thing. I am glad they did not give a hand gun licence to Frazer, if they did that they would have to give one to Sinn Fein spokespeople.

But are they all refused because they were associates of loyalist paramilitaries?

Why did you claim frazer was never suspected of a crime given his arrests and the fact he had to resign from his own charity?

Hand gun licences are refused to 99% of the population for much the same reason : the applicant may have socialised or associated with a paramilitary person at some stage in their past. A reason has to be given for refusing the licence.

As said before, if obstructing traffic was the worst crime he was ever found guilty of , he was a saint compared to some uni SF.

In the contest of n, Ireland / what we were talking about, being a member of a paramilitary or shooting or bombing would have been a crime . If obstructing traffic was the worst that he ever did, that was nothing, compared to 6 different murders of close members of his family by Republicans, him being assaulted, his car being burnt out etc.

You stated he was never suspected of a crime - he was. In addition to illegal protests there was the problems with the accounting of his charity.

I have to say I think the way the unionist community treat one of their own is shocking. Instead of mourning the passing of Frazer they use it to make attacks on rival groups and post nonsense about everything Irish. Another started an account to pretend to go to Frazer's funeral and then got the event location wrong. Not one of them gave proper condolences to the man. Juts used his death as a opportunity to have a laugh.

One moderate unionist poster previously stated on here that he's sick of unionists being painted as the bad guy, brainless and uneducated. Well blame the people on here representing unionism with cowardice, stupidity and bile.

The only people who used his death to have a laugh were Republicans, some of whom made very nasty remarks. I said before if you cannot think of something nice to say about someone who has just died, you should say nothing. Contrast the remarks made by some Republicans about the passing of Willie Frazor, a spokesperson for victims of violence, and the comments made about other deaths recently.

Willy was a poisonous little wretch who stirred the sh!t constantly. His so called support group was a sham and a farce, a front for stirring sh!t. Even most loyalists steered well clear of Willy because they even realised how bonkers he was.

Stunning that a judge, over 20 yrs since the GFA has directed that the police force of northern Ireland is not fit to examine what went on with the Glenane killings.
Willie was a part of the disease that saw only one side as victims, as a prominent poster here does.
The sooner we have an independent truth and reconciliation process the better, the British and Unionists are too afraid of it.

    .

Everyone has their faults. However he was not a paramilitary, he never committed a terrorist or paramilitary crime and he did not receive a paramilitary funeral. 6 members of his close family were systematically targeted by Republicans and murdered. Yet before he was cold in the grave certain posters were calling him a scumbag, a poisonous little wretch etc.
When leaders of the pira , who probably sanctioned such attacks as Claudy and Enniskillen, pass on I do not recall ready such comments.

Extraordinary, things that were said about him when he was alive are now not allowed when he has passed. When nothing has changed about him other than he has died.
I regret his death, as I do any death, he was part of the conversation (a comedic one at the end), but his death doesn't change who he was, in the same way that death hasn't changed who Martin McGuinness was.
