It’s free to the SW wasters if they are long term unemployed. Their free dole pays it, not them. No idea why rent for a SW house isn’t taken at source rather then giving the wastrels the cash, then watching them not pay and run up arrears of €73m

It's not free they pay a differential rent. It's up to the council's to enforce rent collection.

    Obviously not that busy.

Have to stop every now and then, 60 hour week this week so need to pause and reflect on the inequality created by handing out SW to total wasters and fraudsters then giving them a bonus aswell.

Where do they get the money to pay it?

60 hour this week and it's only Tuesday. Seems it PS is not the only spoofer here.

Do you assume all council/social tenants are on the dole?

If they have a job they should be funding their own existence.
If they do not have a job they should get one.

If you had a job you'd know it's pretty common to know your schedule in advance.

60 hour week this week clearly means I will work 60 hours this week. By the end of today I will have done 24 hours between today and yesterday. I will work a half day Saturday too. Easy to do 60 hours.

Noone gets a free house. Ah my SW mates. Sorry bud not rising to your baiting attempt. Mad that a thread has gone so long because of a few whingers moaning at people getting a few extra euro at Christmas. Your life must be very full. ;-)
So you can't grasp how somebody working hard and bringing up three kids on 50k per year would be annoyed by this? This person doesn't get a double weeks pay at Christmas and the waster does.

You realise that it’s a week since last Tuesday ?

Have to say, I find it pretty sickening that there is a "bonus" given to cover additional Christmas costs when there are so many areas in need of investment, esp in education and (imo) carer's allowance. We are (rightly) separating church and state, so why is there a dole bonus given for a Christian festival? Maybe we should do one for ramadan as well, no?

SW is to cover the most basic of necessities for living i.e. food/light/heat/clothes etc., not Christmas presents and booze. Our SW system rewards those who choose not to work.

I totally agree with having a proper SW system, but the way we do things in Ireland is all wrong. HAP being a perfect example - it has now become the norm for people who cannot actually afford to live where they want to live based on their salary to be able to do just that.

If you want to know why we have a Dublin rental crisis (we DON'T have a housing crisis contrary to popular opinion), look no further than a SW system that allows low to middle income earners top up their spending power by €1500+ per month courtesy of the tax payer, purely so they can live down the road from their mother.

I and all my colleagues get multiples of a week's pay at Christmas. Maybe you need a different job.

I think you need special reading classes. I know where I’m going and what I’m doing this week and its going to be 60 hours of work. Plenty of experience in my profession so I know what’s needed.

I think there should be a Christmas bonus for everyone. So whatever your situation is, you get an extra 200 back in the lead up to Christmas.

MYOB time... why get so worked up? Does not lessen what you earn or take from your lifestyle... as a UK pensioner I will get £10 and I am not envying the Irish pensioners. It is what it is. The £10 will be enough fr a good dinner etc.

I always find budget time annoying as every industry / interest group just come out complaining that not enough was done for them. Just once it'd be nice to hear someone to come out and say yeah we're happy with the budget.

And yet again, you need it to be explained to you, the people we are giving out about in this thread are the long term wastrels. So yes, i'm gonna assume that the long term unemployed wastrels that I'm giving out about are on the dole. Perhaps this time it will sink in??

It's always a bad idea to assume anything.

The owners of Diesel cars should be very happy, considering 10c/litre was being mooted

The government do this every year, release a rumour that they are going to increase the price of something, then increase it by half that amount so we say its not too bad. Diesel prices have increased by 14 cent already in the last 6 months, add another 5 cent to that now. Im not happy about it anyway.

It's up to the renter to actually be responsible and pay their rent. Why should they have to be chased by the council. They have a house for half nothing in the first place .
