    Morning to all.....
Travelling up from the sticks to the concert on Weds night, with 2 17 year olds. Plan to get taxi from Houston to Phoenix Park.
I.v seem Castleknock Entrance mentioned earlier on thread..thanks for that. Thick that I am, I thought they were seating tickets,
but I now cop that they are general standing. G42 ?? Am I right in that.
Also, the 2 are going in on their own, as we only got 2 tickets. I.m not familar with that part of the city, Where could I pass
the 4 or 5 hours waiting for them, and be safe on my own. What time roughly have the concerts finished...??
Thanks and apologies for all the questions....ODL.

Firstly, you won't be the only ones trying to get a taxi from Heuston, so make sure you've allowed plenty of time.

My advice would be to get a taxi to the Halfway House pub in Ashtown. It's about as close as you're going to get in a taxi, will take about 15 mins from Heuston and it's only about a 5 walk from there to the park gate that is closest to the concert site. You can drop the kids off and then go back to the pub and sit down. Obviously it will be jammed prior to the gig but should empty out.

The other option is the Hole in the Wall pub on Blackhorse Avenue, but the kids would have a longer walk as it's further away from the gates.

    The gigs finish around 11.

Mollyb60 I couldn't see anything on this in the Ticketmaster Ireland FAQs, but on their FAQ for the Ed Sheeran UK tour it states the following:

"What do I do if my card has expired or been replaced?

If you no longer have the card used to make the booking please just take the new card you have as ID."

    https://help.ticketmaster.co.uk/ed-sheeran-uk-tour-2018-info/

So I'd say bring your new card along with photo ID. Maybe print out a copy of that FAQ page too in case you have any issues

I brought my daughter to the Galway gig on Saturday night & nobody was checking credit cards or id.

Same here, I was at Galway yesterday & wasn't asked to show ID or credit card (didn't notice anyone else being asked for it either).... but in case of random/spot checks, it would still be advisable to go prepared

Can anyone tell me if there might be somewhere near to park within a 30-45 minutes walk to the concert, I want to get back to the M50 afterwards so I'm looking at Castleknock or Rathborne areas? Is there parking in Navan Road railway or would St Brigids Gaa allow parking, I don't mind paying?

I'm coming from pearse street area on Friday. Planning on getting the train from pearse St to Ashtown seems like the handiest way.

Hi I was planning to park at bluebell on the red luas line at a friend's house and get the luas to heuston and walk but I didn't realise it was that far - I'm pregnant! Any suggestions to make things easier? We're going tomorrow night. Thanks!

Also Heston Luas stop is not open after the concert for some reason. Nearest Lucas stop to get home is museum.
Why they don’t have shuttle buses from Heustin, I just don’t know!

Is the Castleknock entrance the best entrance into the concert or is the park gate street one better?

Ashtown gate entrance is the closest 5 minute walk to the site.

Parkgate street entrance you'll be walking for nearly an hour.

Thanks for that, I’ll go with that way cheers 😎

Maybe get off at museum and get one of the navan road buses 37/39/39a/70. The stop is around the corner at the law society .

Is the ashtown gate open for it? Looking at the road closures we were sent (live in the area) it looks like everyone will be directed via the parkgate street entrance

  • Registered Users Posts: 71 ✭✭br2015

Thanks a million- having second thoughts and might just drive to St Brigids and park. We have to head back to Kildare so would be grand to hit the m50 and N7.

Anyone have an idea if there's many spaces and if it would get full quick? Managed to swap my standing for sitting tickets with ticketmaster today - major relief as I'm at that pregnant nauseaus miserable stage!

Dublin bus aren't running extra buses on the 39/39a/70 routes according to their twitter. Only running their standard schedule. Gonna be a disaster for the regular users of the routes as it bad enough as it is!

Very strange as the Garda website they linked to on twitter says they are!

Wouldn't expect anything less from them to be honest! They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

Ashtown gate will be open for pedestrian access, opw tweeted about it.

Seems to be confusion about the Ashtown Gate, according to this tweet today it is closed. Can anyone confirm the nearest gate with access from Ashtown Train Station. Maybe someone who is going today can confirm later exactly where the entry routes are, its all a bit confusing at the moment.

Just to clarify the gate closure is the middle gates for cars that will be closed.

Traffic on the navan road from cabra cross is a disaster. There's no bus lane so expect massive delays if you are taking the 39/70/38 buses

8 of us going from belfast to connelly station on the train and have accommodation booked in castleknock.

Looks like route 37 is the best option for us. Will buses be packed around 4.45 - 5.30 on friday or should we be ok?

Entry near the Ashtown gate not been allowed yet. People getting angry !! Anybody else having problems getting in ??

What inconsiderate idiot decided to have this concert on a work night. The whole city center is at a standstill. Does nobody care about the people who have to go to work and get home from work. This country is a fcuking inconsiderate joke, full of selfish people who just want to line their pockets and don't give a fcuk about anybody else. One hour so far from at Stephens green to o connell bridge on the 39x.

Think that would be a 10 min walk in the lovely spring sunshine. Maybe if you took a bit of exercise you wouldn't be so grumpy.

Is there a car park or hotel there to park? What exits do you take to get to it? I’ll be coming from the m50

To person coming from Belfast. From connolly station you can get a commuter train to Ashtown station its much handier than bus. If you wish to get to castleknock first I think the next stop afyer Ashtown is castleknock

Depends where the hotel is in castleknock. The castleknock hotel is miles away from ashtown. Coolmine would be handier for that, but a longish walk of short taxi ride away. There’s also a travel lodge at castleknock, navan Road Park way would be handiest for that. Again within walking distance and a walk back to the Phoenix Park.

But agreed if you’re going to go straight to the gig then back to the hotel, get off the train at ashtown.

Anyone know if Dublin Bus are running shuttle buses back into town after (heading Friday)? Was about 6 of them lined up just after the Ashtown Roundabout at 10pm tonight.

What a shambles of a setup! Not enough room in the standing area for everyone, so large numbers had to stand out in the "food court" area. Visibility of the stage was centrally blocked by the merchandise stall and then by the flanks of tiered seating. Sound was horrendous bunkess you were further back. If you managed to get into the standing area, you were lucky to be able to see the stage.

I stayed outside and listened rather than viewed as couldn't see anything and they had no additional screens.

Whatever what they set it up, it was never fir to hold that many people. I'd say there were a good 5-10k people unable to get into the actual standing area! Was a farce!

Wife and I left early, it was awful. Can’t believe the layout was approved. Bottleneck into stage area, ridiculous mess trying to get to toilets, an absolute shambles. Can’t believe we dropped nearly €200 on it. We left via castle knock gate and as we were leaving the park there was a huge crowd of people with kids with a better view of the stage from Chesterfield Avenue than we had inside.

I feel so bad for all the parents I saw with kids who probably didn’t get even a glimpse of the stage.

Not reading great things above - my wife is bringing our daughter to his Friday show, I really hope they can sort out the issues by then, but perhaps there won’t be enough time if they are that fundamental.

How long did it take ppl to walk from the gig to Heuston ?

I walked by the area at the weekend and did think the seating tiers were crazily close to the stage. I thought it must have only been for about 30k with the space given, not 50k!
at least they have a day off, so could potentially move the seating back a bit, or maybe free up some other space, but I'd be getting there early if I had a ticket for Fri/Sat.
How long did it take ppl to walk from the gig to Heuston ?

    it's about a 40min walk from Heuston.

It's in the area just north west of the visitor centre, so probably 45 min walk with kids.

There were big signs near the exits directing people in directions of either Ashtown or Castleknock/city centre, so should be open.

Bought my wife 2 tickets for Saturday gig in Dublin, ...bought here on adverts. Not going myself she is bringing a friend.

Whats the feedback on this clampdown on folks who bought tickets (because they sold out in 5 seconds from legit sources) not from TM.

TBF I paid only a few euros above face value, but Ill be sickened if they travel from Clare to Dublin and get turned away Saturday....surely thousand and thousands of people in same situation ??

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,615 ✭✭✭✭antodeco

Not checked at all. Scanned the ticket, that's it!
