Anyone here have the Xiaomi Mi6? Appreciate any comments on how you have found it. Looking at it for my next phone. I see they have got rid of green/blue/red notification light. Disappointing

    Are also worth looking at.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Given the cost/specs I am thinking the LeEco's are a no brainer?

I have also looked at the Le Max 2.

6gb 64gb version is around €200 from Italy. The AnTutu score is extraordinary for the money..

I'm far from an expert so could be wrong thinking this?

This is the big issue with leeco.

    www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/07/18/tencent-co-founder-brands-leeco-a-ponzi-scheme.html

The reason the phones are so cheap is that it's probably a fire sale to get cash in.

Don't expect software updates for those phones.

    Interesting..

I had read about their financial difficulties but hadn't considered this. Phones seem to be an absolute steal though..

Might just go for the Mi Mix 2. Does anyone know if these devices are much cheaper on the Chinese market? I presume not but I import a lot from there and could probably have contacts get them for me as I will probably be buying quite a few if I find something I'm happy with.

    Cheers

Looking to buy a Xiaomi Redmi 5A as a family backup phone. I bought a Mi A1 from honorbuy a few months back. Who is best to deal with at the minute. Looking for EU shipping to avoid customs delays and charges. Thanks.

Looking at that one too. Is gearbest the best place to get it at the minute?

Gearbest is never the best place to get anything ever.
They are known for selling fakes/clones/faulty/damaged/rejects.
It has been mentioned many times before.

I also wonder why people never seem curious when they see the items with a huge price difference than every other Chinese store (not in this instance). Is it because they are willing to chance it, or think it's a genuine decent price?

Thanks for the info on Gearbest and the alternative links. I notice that the aliexpress links have delivery option from France, but when selected it says can not deliver to Ireland. I did buy from Honorbuy a few months back without issue.

This one's about 30 more but seems to have a better processor, extra gig of ram, 16mp front camera and 32gb of storage. Think I might go for this one myself

I realise this is possibly a stupid question but I'm looking at the specs and can't understand whether it has an audio jack and what type of USB is the charger is.

Here is the spec sheet for the device: -

    https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_y1_(note_5a)-8753.php#redmi-note-5a

    And a review: -

    https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_5a_y1-review-1719p6.php

I don't see why people are attracted to this cheap Entry level device, when with a small expense more you could get Budget level device like the Redmi Note 4 or Mi A1.

Or alternatively a Redmi Note 5[WHYRED] due to be launched on 16th of the month in China.

The 820 is a power whore and EUI isn't much better, that 4000mah battery should get you through a day and not much more.

Also the phones are infected with malware, the companies bust and it's a pain to get decent support or ROMs for it.

I got a LeEco on a great deal about 2 years ago, it's running 100% for me but took some trickery. If you're looking to buy a phone that'll be 100% what you bought when you open it, don't buy LeEco.

Isn't the Note 4 nearly double the price of the Note 5A?

LeEcco phones have awesome specs for the price. Plenty of unofficial ROMs and support on XDA.
Show up as uncertified device in Play store even with official ROM. No Netflix.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,258 ✭✭✭corkie

Isn't the Note 4 nearly double the price of the Note 5A?

No it is not, for same storage as linked(in the RN5A) it can be got for approx €130 (Or €150 with DHL shipping).

    Example: - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Global-Version-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-International-Edition-Mobile-Phone-Snapdragon-Octa-Core-5-5-FHD/32796560515.html

If you get a version with larger storage, the price would increase to approx €160

    Edit: - Or from Honorbuy (EU warehouse) €132.79 : - https://www.honorbuy.com/1068-xiaomi-redmi-note-4-international-version-32gb-black.html

Noticing allot of Out of Stock links, with the [WHYRED] device due, the must be clearing out of the remaining stocks. It will probably be hard to get soon.

I would probably go with the LeEco myself for the money. The others are nice too. LeEco failed to shift as many units as they had intended when they moved into the States and a lot of people expected their demise there and then. Afaik they have now another company under their umbrella. They may still wind down, but well worth buying. How often do people buy a phone from China and send it back 9-10 months later under warranty? That seems to be the only negative gripe and wouldn't stop me. I regret not buying it at Christmas and may still.

Yeah, some Aliexpress stores offer delivery from Italy to Italy, From Spain to Spain, from France to France etc..
But not to other Countries. My guess is they have a way to get them in without tax.
Honorbuy has an EU delivery option anyway.
