Well done to everyone who got offers. Does anyone have an idea when next week the second round offers will be out?

I'm just wondering would applying at 18/19 years old be ok? I'm currently in 6th year and have always wanted to be a Garda! I was planning on joining the airport police for a year or two before applying or traveling around Europe. Most of my family members were/ are currently Gardaí so they will be able to help me. But am worried I'll be too young at 18/19.

I got it at 19. Just a couple of things. I have no idea about the in and outs about the airport police but you will be waiting a long long long time to get in there. You could look into it but trust me its far from a thing you can hop into for a couple of years.

The second thing is that yes your family will help you when you are in the job and give you advice but forget the fact that they will help you getting into the job. The recruitment process is transparent and does not tolerate canvasing. I know one or two that have gone in with that attitude and have failed at aptitude tests. I have a retied Cheif in my close family and he gave me advice and helped me by doing mock interviews but that's about all he could have helped in the process.

If you have any other questions PM me and ask away.

Age is only a number. Granted for me i think at that age i havent experianced enough of life to start a job like that and i was obsessed with joining. At 32 i volunteer with differant organisations giving first aid and also coaching. So if at 19 in your interview you have experiamce like that and its shows you are mature enough.

Only you know at 19 how mature you are to take on a serious job as this lucky you have time in your hands. So best of luck with wjat you choose

Airport police recruit only ocasio occasionally because they ate a small team. So competition for them can be very very tight simply down to the small numbers taken on. 18/19 is as every other who replied had said, absolutely fine. If you want it, learn what you can about it and go for it.

November would be out of the question at this stage. 100's of file to be signed off by HRM. Depending on vetting and oom February may be in sight. Some people including myself are from January 2016 campaign and still have vetting outstanding or are waiting to be signed off.

Thanks a mill Trigger, was really hoping for the November intake, such a long process of waiting around not knowing whats happening, but Im sure the waiting around will be rewarded.

Not so bad. There must be an odd one dropping out

I've an OOM of mid 600's and last week hrm said my file was awaiting sign off by senior management do you think I've a chance for February and does this mean I'm definitely getting in?

I am low 600s from Sept 2016. Even let's say if an OOM of up to 400 is exhausted by the second round offer for November. There is still quite a few from Jan 2016. At a squeeze I might not make February even if my vetting was signed of by then. I am hoping for February but preparing myself for May 2018 just in case.

    Sept 2016
    Vetting complete
I need to repeat the PCt

    OOM of early 1000's

Feb at a squeeze / May for me I'd say

Does anyone know roughly how many offers go out for the second intake? Would it be the same amount as the first intake?

Could be more with drop outs and deferrals.

So if your very early 400s (sept 16) and everything signed off... would there be a chance of being included in the second round offers for Nov?

With the number who seem to be waiting on vetting to come back always a chance. But obviously any who very it cleared on time with higher ooms or previous campaigns get offered first.
