Whats the point of Tipp FM giving traffic reports for Galway/Cork...Drivers in Galway wont pick them up,and if I plan to drive there, its about two and a half hours away on a good day...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,047 ✭✭✭Clonmel1000

Often sat stuck in traffic in Tipp Town Clonmel and thurles wondering the same thing. Ridiculous.

Lorraine on breakfast is very good but she's screaming out for a male to bounce off, A proper double header there would be great,

She is in fairness very easy to listen to. What happened to the lad that was with her!

I think she is better on her own....I think there are to many shows that have two people doing them on radio...She sounds like she is enjoying the show...Just music, little chat, and give the time a little more...I always run late:D...Lunchtime dj could sound a bit more upbeat....The guy on afternoons as well..

Bad figures for the local station, market share and listened yesterday are both down on the last set of data

That is not how tipp fm are spinning it
they say "Tipp FM remains premier choice in the county"

How much of a drop? I suppose its only the station would get the actual programmes figures?

What happened the presenters on the Hospital radio? I often listen when I am in range..The last while I havent heard any,or very few presenters..It always depended on the time of day..I didnt mind just the music..but if you listen for a while now,it seems the music is on a loop...the same songs keep coming up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,124 ✭✭✭by8auj6csd3ioq

Maybe they have no volunteers? I also picked it up a couple of times and the same songs as you say

I thought i had posted this, sorry if it doubles

The last while I havent heard any,or very few presenters

One would expect with all the knowledge on what makes a good presenter and how to run a radio station floating around there would be no shortage of volunteers ;-)

Another Programme Director sacked and escorted from the building suddenly in the last week or so, I hear.
Shame. I thought he was starting to put a bit of order on the music and programming and, given more time, would have started to see the JNLR figures start to climb.
Even bottom of the table Premier League managers get more time, it seems.

PD from Clare FM apparently now has responsibility for programming on both stations. I'd love to see Tipp FM's contract with the BAI to see if that's permitted.

On-air talent or programme management - heed this lesson. If offered a job at Tipp FM, just say no.
You'd have better career prospects at McDonald's or KFC.

His only crime seems to be not adding at least 10 percentage points to the stations JNLR listenership in 3 months.

    Where did you hear?
A source close to the station. Although, the bit about being escorted from the building is probably not true, it was very sudden. The chap was doing afternoons as well as being Programme Director. His profile has now disappeared from the Tipp FM website.

Dave Harrington was it? Definitely heard him during the week a bit cheesy I thought bit bland.

The changes the PD made didnt work..So the Clare Fm PD will make more changes?..What changes are left to make..Why did they stop doing the radio bingo I wonder..What is wrong there,so much coming and going of staff..

I think it'd be unfair to say the changes the outgoing PD made didn't work. While the last JNLR was not a good one, his changes and schedule would need more time before that could realy be said. The JNLRs before he arrived were not much good either.

It seems to be a very unhappy place to work in with practically all of the shots being called from Ennis now.
There is also, I think, a deep antipathy towards the station in South Tipp where long time stalwarts like Denis O'Sullivan, Michael O'Meara and a few more were shafted in recent years.
A good solid and visible community radio operation in Clonmel (taking over from that dreadful and pointless Hospital operation) would really hurt Tipp FM in the South, in my view.

I hear Carol back on this afternoon.I wouldnt be surprised to see her back in that slot again..I dont think Clonmel will see a community station any time soon. The old pirates that made it to legal, and were replaced,or left, probably wouldnt have the interest in taking on something that takes a lot of time, not to mention money..I agree with you on the Hospital station. It should be on some system, that only works within the hospital, but I doubt that anyone in there are even aware that it exists..and if they did, they wouldnt be long changing to something else. Its sad when Clare FM has to run Tipp FM...If they couldnt do it,give back the licence..............

that is due to a problem with the bingo and it went off all stations. it went period. people lost jobs.don't know why

i don't think tipp fm did themselves any favours holding a 'health seminar' in conjunction with the local drug company and i don't think it should be allowed

I was ranting before about reading traffic information for Cork and Limerick..This morning they gave traffic updates for Galway..Fecking Galway..Ok,so I'm heading to Galway, listen to Tipp Fm traffic updates for Galway, and think to myself..Jaysus,I better avoid that street in a couple of hours,it seems bumper to bumper:mad::mad::mad:..It makes no sense to me at all:eek:

Don't think PD matters there is no originality in TippFm. TippToday is just the same as all the the stations reading  papers/ silly 'panel' of know alls etc.Politicians looking for free publicity Nothing original. That morning girl is good sounds down to earth not a poser

What would you put in the "Tipp Today" slot?
Its what most stations have on at that time..It deals with local topics, giving a voice to listeners.

i would get rid of the stupid panel and all the gombeen councillors who issue press releases to "welcome" some development as if they made it happen.
Its what most stations have on at that time..
that is what is wrong with it and the others. bland formula all copying the nationals afraid to try anything new

and attention seekers who love their own voice
