The atari jaguar is a non runner anyway as it's a games console, not a type of jaguar.

Floyd is a far more precise striker than what Mendes is.

A shot on the chin is a shot on the chin.

Is Floyd Mayweathers shot on the chin in boxing gloves harder than Chad Mendes shot on the chin in MMA gloves? Possibly, probably.

Is it enough to knock Conor McGregor down? We will see.... I don't think so.

Little love tap knockouts happen all the time. And as Conor said himself, after starching Aldo, "Precision beats power..."

But no, I don't think (in my limited knowledge) that Floyd will KO Conor.

Thinking there's an absolute zero chance of fixing in one of the most lucrative boxing matches of the decade is naivety.

There's over $135 million bet on this fight according to Nevada gambling experts.

If it is EVER uncovered there was ANY proof of a) collusion or b) a fix between the 2 fighters, both would be spending a long time in prison. If you know anything about Nevada, the one thing they hate the most is anyone trying to rip off casinos and punters in their jurisdiction.

More to the point, "fix" what? Floyd has 6 trademarks for "50-0" and stands to make millions from them. Most of his endorsements are predicated on him being an undefeated boxer.

You're proposing that they "fix" the fight to allow Conor to win? That Floyd will accept public ridicule, losing his flawless record all in order to procure a rematch that may never happen?

Thinking there's ANY chance of this fight being fixed is beyond crazy.

Now, some people suggest Floyd might take it easy on Conor to make it look competitive but then knock him out later. That *may* happen but wouldn't be breaking any laws as it's a unilateral decision and the result will still be a Floyd win.

TL;DR - If Conor wins, instead of crying "fix" , use your brain and give him credit for the win.

Lol. That'll never happen. If McGregor pulls off an upset the masses who dislike him/MMA will scream 'fix' or 'he got lucky' or 'GGG/Canelo would destroy him' or 'hes afraid to fight Khabib'... etc etc etc

I don't expect a McGregor win, but if by some miracle he pulls it off he will not get any credit for it. It hasn't happened before and it won't start now.

And it's a damn shame because aside from all the bluster and the arrogant persona he portrays to sell fights, it's absolutely astonishing what he has done in just 4 years.

Let's look at the list of nonsense thrown at him:
'He hasn't a hope against a world class wrestler' - Chad Mendes gets knocked the f out.
'Aldo is out of his league and will kick him into oblivion.' - 13 seconds and the king of the featherweight division for is unconscious on the mat.

The list is endless. I could go on and on and on about criticisms leveled at him time and again and every single time he has proved the doubters and naysayers wrong and yet still it is not good enough for them.
It's why I generally don't engage in discussing Conor and his achievements because of the negativity surrounding everything he does.
One quote and he's labelled as a massive racist. It's amazing what a visceral reaction he evokes from some people, I honestly can't understand it.

I don't think he'll win this fight, I just can't see it but I will be rooting for him at stupid o clock Sunday morning that's for sure.
    Diatribe over.

Not too exercised about this mallarkey to be honest but I will be rooting for the Irish man. Watched Shane Mosley and Sugar Ray Leonard recently saying he hasn't much of a shout.

Sugar Ray thinks McGregor might catch Mayweather on an off night where father time just catches up on him -this would be his only road to victory.

Mosley thinks he could get embarrassed.

Here here. It is a certain type of negative critical moan bag that dislikes McGregor. I can stereotype them at this stage.

On a lighter note, it looks like Imelda May will be banging out the Irish National Anthem.

    Conor goes boom boom........

Thanks for clearing up any confusion there Professor ToddyDoddy. :) If it was a normal jaguar and not an atari jaguar, could it have flown into the ring and beat the snot out of both?

I've read a lot of the thread and while I know the animal analogies didn't hit the mark (Tiger in Water V's Shark etc) I think the there's certainly a genuine attempt to capture this unique event.

I'm looking at it purely from a "one male in his prime to one male past his prime" perspective- does anyone not think that MCGregor purely on that basis, has the "edge"?

I know nothing about boxing as you can tell but interested in peoples views on this.

Fair dues, that is a proper post.

I didn't propose a fix would get Conor over the line however, and in fact if I did suspect fixing either way it would be in Floyds favour. Should Conor win he will have only himself to thank.

A win for McGregor and I'll be happy for him, what he has done for the UFC/MMA and for all of us here in Ireland. A win for Floyd will be little more than I expect to see.

    No.

The "logic" that a lot of people appear to be using would be analogous to something like:

    1) Gaelic football contains a superset of skills used in soccer. You can kick the ball on the ground in both
    2) Aidan O'Shea is younger than Ronaldo
    3) Therefore Aidan O'Shea would mark Ronaldo out of it in a game of soccer.

Yes and no. Conor is entering a specific discipline that Floyd is a master of. 49 wins. No losses. You don't just lose that ability overnight.

That said. The hope I'm clinging to is exactly this! We see it all the time in different sports.
Wayne Rooney seemingly in one summer went from a great player to an old grandad flustering about the pitch (I'm aware he's currently enjoying an 'Indian summer' or so to speak)
Phil Taylor the 16 time darts champion suddenly became beatable in finals a few years ago.
Tiger Woods.... You get the point.

It happens all the time. The clock ticks for every sportsperson. Look at Bolt in the World Championships for a recent example.

It COULD happen. It probably won't. But it could. And that is what makes it intriguing for me.

I'm going more with Necrominus (see below) on this one, than you as I still think the analogies you're using are not totally accurate. It's one-on-one only- not a team sport. So over 10 minutes, maybe Ronaldo's skill will persevere- but over 90 minutes?

I'm looking at this from two perspectives (not knowing anything about boxing)- Skills and Agility.

Mayweather obviously wins on skill - and "skill alone" may still prove formidable in some sport that I just can't think of right now but it's not boxing.

McGregor has much more agility and on paper, resilience, simply taking his age and recent performance into account (my opinion)

On that basis, I do believe agility will win over skill.

Thanks for that explanation. It certainly is intriguing- on the basis of age and agility, (as opposed to anything else) I'm going to go with McGregor will win. Happy to be wrong but I've seen enough David Attenborough programs through the years :D

Lads, 'tis nonsense. Some racist Irish guy takes on some wifebeater hauled out of the retirement home? Save your money, go for a nice meal or a good film...relax, it's not a fight in any real sense of the word in any sport. Might as well cross Aussie Rules with rollerblading...

Fundamentally, it is a nonsense, but it is easily as important as 95% of everything else I see on After Hours.
