I remember him being a colossus that day in limerick. Wing forward really suited him - but for injuries I'm sure he'd do a job there for us now.

I might listen to it in mass tomorrow.

I always liked him as a player, knocked Johnny Cooper around more than once, could take a nice score and was Imo too good a footballer to not start in the forwards for Mayo he'd be dropped for having a bad game only to be replaced by some players who'd string ineffective performances together.

Don't get too comfortable, no farmers delight here for you seligehgit, this isn't the league anymore, you're straight back west after the game tomorrow, win or lose.

Butterflies have started early. A lot of people headed up tonight think a massive Mayo crowd will be there.

Good luck today lads. Love the feeling waking up on these big championship days! Hopefully it's a good competitive game now and Deegan has a good game too. And when I say good luck I mean with the travelling to and from the match and general enjoyment of the day, not in the game itself ;)

    The sun is shining leaving
May it shine on the team later against Kerry for once

Sensible call. Crowe (or less likely dillon) to drop out I guess

Very surprised that he never started a provincial match. I used to come across him sometimes on nights outs back in the day and he was a great storyteller.

    Monsoon incoming..

Think the wet ball might suit Mayo's running game.

We weren't very good in the rain the first day against the Rossies .....

I suppose we should have learned what we got wrong that day........

Yes he's number 25. Conor OShea is number 24 today.

Probably my first post here all week.

    Not going to it.

    Really nervous about it.

Can find a million ways to think that Mayo will lose it, and another million ways they can win it, and about four million ways it will be a draw.

Have to reluctantly disagree with that.

Think a slippy ball and handling errors won't help us one bit in racking up scores. That said it should lead to much more collisions and 50/50 breaking balls which we will relish

We will need a big score though as there's no way our defence is tight enough to keep out the three amigos all game.

I recall the rain keeping Kerry in the AI final in 2015 despite dublin being 7 or 8 points the better team that day

I would agree. It's an even faster surface when wet. The ball pretty much bounces a yard or two further forward when hopped in those conditions.

I was surprised with the persistence with hopping the ball against Rossies, first game. Galway and Kerry were no better. It should be fairly basic, if it's a greasy surface keep to the solo's.

    Wonder who is gone?

Kirby and Boland would be my guess.

Draw is gone to 11:1 for those who may want to cover replay costs :D

It's Boland and Evan Regan that are being dropped.

Just after watching the 2006 semi final between Mayo and Dublin and notice how classy a footballer Kevin O'Neill was and any other time I saw him play he always looked quality.

Why did he not play more for Mayo , I don't seem to remember him being a starter for Mayo in the 90's when they were in those all ireland finals.

Seeing as Mayo struggled for high class forwards in the 90's should he not have been one of the first names on the team sheet.

I'm a little surprised to see our best left footed free taker and shooter out of the 26.

I said early in the year (and I was surprised I got a bit of stick for it - sometimes we're very loathe to criticise our own) but I never seen Boland as someone who could realistically make a difference to us in the big matches. Sure he's talented and works hard but Doherty, DOC and mcloughlin are all better versions. He really isn't the type of player we're looking for to change the game against a Dublin or Kerry

Kirby and nally are completely different stories, both are big and strong and the former offers a direct option and an alternative as a target man; the latter is highly versatile and super at kicking scores from distance. I could genuinely see both as match winner options off the bench.

Went to work in Dublin for years. Good club player with Na Fianna

Very talented but a bit frustrating at times

Very serious Knee Injury . Probably never showed how good he could have been because of that .

Its a testament to how good he was that he was still very good even despite that very serious injury......

You'll notice there are loads of people in white sheets in Croke park today as well.

Corks recruitment drive has clearly worked.
