It'll be one or either although there's been some talk of Diarmuid. Can't see that happening.

    Seamie could lose out.

No chance Diarmuid will be dropped unless he isn't fit. Seamie done well in the last game but wouldn't be surprised.

    Great article about Donal :D
Donal Vaughan: Mayo’s running man for all seasons
Misunderstood and almost unnoticed, the defender is whatever his county needs him to be

They can't all be too good to drop lads.

Paddy won't miss out. Wouldn't drop Doherty either. It will be interesting to see how we line up.

Is this the last stand for us? Lose and there could be a few of the old guard moving on.

Mike Finnerty was on Newstalk on Thursday morning, he said we could easily take 40,000 supporters with us tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised. Expect to see a wall of green and red when, can't wait.

Realistically who might walk away? Andy, Dillon and Boyle (if injuries are catching up) would be 3 possibles. Keith looks like there's another year there.
When you've the likes of Coen, Loftus & Nally quietly edging closer to the starting team then it'll be far from a last stand.

Agree. Durcan was mayo's MVP in both finals last year and really improved as the year went on

I'm a fan of Doherty but Durcan simply has to fit in somewhere.

The other alternative is to leave out SOS but I can't see that happening especially if someone is needed to cut out high ball into donaghy

I assume the neutral perspective would be to leave out Doherty?

I'd add Clarke to that list I hope not but wouldn't be surprised

Age wise he's absolutely a contender but I think there's another good year there.

Wouldn't drop Doherty in a fit personally. Said earlier in the year during the struggles I couldn't believe he wasn't starting every game.

It probably won't go down well but I think Higgins is ropey enough, wouldn't put him corner back in a month of Sundays and he's probably the fifth best half back.

Could justify dropping SOS either as he has been fairly poor all season. DOC next on the list as he's not having a good season either.

The three of them are getting away with middling to poor years because of good performances against Roscommon in a belly tickle match.

I read it to the end to see when the vinegar would come after the sugar, and it did very much so in the last line. Up your b#m Tomas :p

It's an intriguing decision. Doherty being pushed into the FF line for Andy could also be a consideration. One that I wouldn't have been thinking about a week ago.

    Yeah great piece indeed!

Very interesting and harrowing point alright, it may just need two good balls to donaghy and game over

Fascinating point with regard to keeping Durcan, vaughan/boyle and Keegan scoreless and Kerry will surely win. They'll probably never be marked as heavily as tomorrow

Would agree with the sentiment we don't have enough up front so we really need these guys to damage the scoreboard

Age wise a definite yes, yet when one looks at the remarkable longevity of Stephen Cluxton who knows?

David Clarke keeps himself in remarkably good condition and goalkeepers by their nature can have an extended longevity.

Yet David Clarke has had more than his fair share of ups and downs thorough no fault of his own.

How many more years can Seamie O Shea go to the well?Hopefully Matthew Ruane will get more game time come next year.

Keith Higgins has had a poor year defensively and has not been overly convincing in the sweeper role.I don't believe there's any chance he'll play corner back,in all probability he'll play the sweeper role and endeavour the hurt Kerry defensively when the opportunity presents itself.

He's likely to be quite busy defensively tomorrow.

Diarmuid O Connor does need a really big game tomorrow.

I'm drawn to the 2015 final more than anything.

Very forgettable match so forgive the sketchy memory but I do recall him having an anonymous cameo until he won a ball near the end and was blatantly fouled for a penalty which would have levelled it - despite them being clearly second best throughout. He only needed to win one ball that day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

No it wasn't a penalty, just checked it.Memory fuzzy too!He caught a high ball, perfect lay off to Killian Young who through a combination of the wet conditions and taking his eye off the ball failed to collect the ball.Glorious goal chance.

Kerry had been totally outplayed yet if that chance had been taken it would have been a one point game.

It's going to be a very wet day, so unlikely to be the classic people are hoping for.
Might be a day for the backs though..

Easily the better team so far. Gave away two bad early goals, but well on top since.

Missed the majority of the first half but they have pushed on well.Youthful look about the team,Sarah Rowe playing very well and the Kellys.

    Fantastic goal by Grace Kelly.

Forwards really looked to have stepped out of Coras shadow this year. Any time I have seen them in the past, all attacks were centred around her.

Most definitely in this game,Cora was always good for a big haul with her freetaking and scores from play but didn't involve others sufficiently.Preferring to bulldoze her way through.

I'd be optimistic for the future based on this display.

Cheers for that. Fantastic interview by a great character and really good footballer on his day. Shame injuries took its toll on Mickey C in the end.

    Great quote...
"I remember the lights coming on at half-time in extra-time (in Limerick 2014) and I said to Cillian, ‘Hey, would you prefer to be anywhere else?’ And he said, ‘Nowhere else on this world.’"

Sums up why these lads keep going to the wire with people wondering how they keep on coming back year after year. Who else wouldn't want to be part of this.

Let's hope they can do the business now tomorrow. Maigh Eo abú

I remember him being a colossus that day in limerick. Wing forward really suited him - but for injuries I'm sure he'd do a job there for us now.
