I wonder has anyone approached Conor about making a fitness DVD set. Apparently GSP's ''Rushfit'' made an absolute killing. It sold 250k copies in it's first year alone. At roughly $200 a go, that's a lot of money.

I'm sure a lot of folk in Ireland would buy it if they thought it could make them look like Conor. Could see a lot of people getting it for Christmas in anticipation of the New Year's fitness regime.

There's money to be made but to be honest, anyone who would buy that wouldn't even come close to looking like Conor, and that's not because of genetics or anything, it's because nobody ever got fit from a bloody DVD.

Usually inside a week of despatch.

Ordered Tuesday, arrived today. Pretty impressive.

Also, new lever belt purchased. It feels awesome. Now all I need to do is learn how to lift properly.

Their belts feel much better than I expected to. Didn't take me long to get used to.

Went out for lunch today to wagamama, decided to treat myself to duck yakitori.

My fitness pal tells me it's 1194 calories. :(:(:(

Salads anymore if I'm eating out!

Honestly pretty much everything is at least 1000 calories when eating out.

Yeah.. It'd be nice if lunch out didn't derail my healthy eating plans quite so badly though!

The worst part is it wasn't even that filling!

    It's a treat though.

And it may bring you over your target for the day but over the course of the week or fortnight it won't mean you've derailed.

Banging out 300 for reps now. This is just crazy stuff.

Gabriel Sincraian commented that 'he's as strong as a crane'. How flippin awesome must it be to have an olympic bronze medallist from Rio say that!

Is he not under investigation for doping in Rio?

Those two girls knocking out push presses and deadlifts in the background of Clarence's deadlift have achieved instant overnight fame :D

    Does that matter?

He hasn't been stripped of his medal or been caught yet, but everyone's under investigation and likely will be for the next 10yrs. It doesn't matter either; Sincraian's an incredible lifter and deserves as much respect as any top athlete whether he gets popped or not.

CJ Cummings adds 2kg to his C&J world youth record with this 2nd lift of 182kg (skipped the third)

Liao Hui's Junior WR of 190kg is in sight.

The part of your post I bolded... Do you just hold that opinion for Sincraian, or does it apply to any lifter/athlete?

    Does that matter?

Does it matter in terms of that in general he is a possible doper or that he complimented Clarence?

(Just not sure what you mean :) )

He's an elite level weightlifter either way, so does it matter if he potentially doped in the context of saying what he did about Clarence?

I'll put it like this, if Ben Johnson ever says in public that I'm 'fast as f*ck', I'll be a happy camper :)

He has tested positive unfortunately. Not finalised yet but I imagine it's only a matter of time.

It applies to every top level lifter/athlete. The vast majority of people have no idea what it takes to become a top athlete even with all the talent and good genetics they have.

I thought that was just rumours but yeah it looks likely he'll lose that bronze now.

Okay I know what you mean, and that's a great example :)

Does it matter in this context, you know it really probably doesn't. But for some reason I can't regard the comment as highly as if it wasn't from a doper. That's just my opinion, and I completely respect yours :)

So dopers deserve as much respect as clean professional athletes? That's what you're saying yeah?

I wouldn't be able to agree with that. There's no way that I would be able to have as much respect for cheaters.

It means he's elite without drugs. Drugs may have been the difference between third and fourth but he deserves respect for being at the level he's at.

He's an elite lifter, drugs or not. The fact that Clarence is on his radar and was complimented as being strong is what is impressive.
Whether or the person making the comment is clean or not has no real impact on the Clarence's strength

It's becoming increasingly clear that there are no clean elite level weightlifters. It's a doper sport. Cycling has undertaken a similar voyage of discovery and continues to find its darlings bending the rules.

I just like watching people move huge amounts of weight. Don't really care what they're taking / not taking to enable them to do same.

One of the most unfortunate things is that we really have no idea what numbers are possible for a clean elite level athlete. I believe the limits for a natural athlete could be a lot higher than people realise the problem is that the reliance on drugs has lead to a stagnation in the actual sports science and training methods.

Hopefully improved testing methods will have a positive impact going forward because for weightlifting to survive as an Olympic sport there needs to be a massive shake up. Weightlifting losing it's Olympic status would kill the sport imo.

    I have a feeling. And it's only a feeling.

It's that the upper limit of drug free and non drug free potential is roughly the same.

BUT in order to achieve the upper limit of drug free potential you need ot invest 20 (say) years and remain injury free and committed over the at time period.

You can short cut it and do it in 1/4 or 1/2 the time with juice, so that's why people go there.

I have nothing to back that up, just a feeling that if you train hard, eat well and last long enough to realise your potential, it'll be pretty close to the non tested athletes.

I would agree with that. The thing is with weightlifting that after 30 or so speed and flexibility start to decrease so while their pure strength levels might as high as ever their performance in the classic lifts starts to go downhill. Less of a problem in powerlifting as speed and flexibility are somewhat less important (although I think both are useful qualities in powerlifting), lots of examples of powerlifters continuing to gain strength into their 30s, 40s and 50s.

Funny thing is there are many clean weightlifters (multiple examples in the USA) with superior squatting strength to lifters from "dirty" countries yet perform worse in the classic lifts.
