My Physio reckoned my hip nearly came out of its socket, now I don't think that's physically possible to be honest(time for new Physio maybe!!). Its more likely to be snapping hip syndrome where time to time you can hear a loud snap or pop from the hip. Nothing to be overly concerned with in itself as you generally don't experience pain with this but I did with mine last week in a big way!! Second time this year it has caused issues in a race what with it locking up on me in March in Kinvara. I did say then I would leave the hilly races alone, must pay attention to myself from now on.

I was told what with the torn labrum in the hip it may occur from time to time, I'm willing to live with that as there is no visible new damage to the hip in nearly two years and I'm probably in the best shape running wise since I took it up. Will up the strength and conditioning stuff for it again hoping it will make a difference to it.

Great to hear no serious damage B.

I'll echo the advice further up the thread re getting stuck into a few parkruns. Great competitive and social vibe all rolled into one which should assist your efforts to reclaim the mojo.

Cheers C, ashamed to say I've only ran one parkrun since they started here. FD has promised to come to Mullingar with me to do that one but still waiting on her to choose a date for it!! St Anne's is one I'd like to do to what with old work connections in the area.

Great to hear not as bad as first feared B. Take it easy getting back into it.

Delighted to hear this. Best of luck for the rest of the year. Hope you get into London but realistically you are probably looking at Barcelona ,which I've heard great things about.

Great to hear that, Tang! Hope you get your mojo back soon to go along with the good news. Good luck in the London lottery, but Barcelona wouldn't be a bad consolation price - it's a great city.

Eek! Don't say that! I was told years ago by a chiropractor that my shoulder kept popping out of its socket. Or maybe it was that the ball kept slipping out of place in the joint? I'm hoping that's what's wrong with my hip so the physio can just click it back in and it's all better! Now I have concerns I was misled :pac:

Glad your injury isn't as serious as first feared and hope you get your running mojo back soon.

Good to hear not to serious, enjoy some easy running before next cycle.

Great news that the injury is nothing too sinister.

Good news on the hip front.

The mojo going astray after a marathon training cycle is not unusual. Mine does it every time and I know a few others that experience the same.

I find just getting back to consistent running with some more straightforward goals like a certain number of days running over a month or two or doing a certain number of parkruns, etc keeps me from worrying too much about it and after a little while the mojo reappears.

Enjoy the break. Hopefully, see you in St Anne's soon.

Pretty good news B and think you are right to get a second opinion on the hip from a specialist physio, or otherwise, with significant experience of running injuries.

Not so sure that I am a summer running type either.

Delighted to read the update B and that its not as serious as you first feared...enjoy the easy running and the mojo will appear back, i bet its not too far away!!!!

Do you think maybe it's how you stepped on a twig? You are a bit of a hypochondriac to be fair. ;D

Glad to hear you're back in action, B.
Another vote here for parkrun, just remember it's not a race so no need to worry about the time. I rarely miss our one, it's the only social outing I get.:D

You could well be correct on the hypochondriac thing P, TbL reckons I'm a bigger faker than a woman though!!!

If truth be told I've been lacking in motivation and desire for my running since Rotterdam, I've done a few decent 5ks but that was all on the back of marathon training. I have lost my 'mojo' slightly.

To be honest I can't wait to get back into structured marathon training again as I enjoyed every facet of it last winter, be it Barcelona or London(lottery dependent) I look forward to the training involved for it again.

Just catching up on here, read Singer's FD10 race report and my heart dropped when I heard you were badly injured. Delighted to see that it's all ok! Also I'm feeling the above completely, almost dying for the evenings to close in and the weather to get sh1t so I can get training properly again! :D
