Cheers for all the well wishes folks, hugely appreciated.

My race was done just before 4 miles, was going well and well on pace for sub 65 tucked in behind FerrisB, just as we approached Chesterfield Ave from the S-bends we went up a little drag and got a sharp pain in my bad hip. As the road flattened out again the hip gave a loud pop, so loud the runner beside me said "Jaysis what was that?". Pulled up immediately in agony, tried walking it off but that wasn't happening.

Over two painful miles back to the car, drive home wasn't pretty!!! Thanks to yaboya1, Murph_D, annapr and aquinn for shout outs on the walk back to the car. Going on same injury two years ago, that's my year over.

That's tough tang. I was looking forward to seeing how you'd get on. If it is the same injury as before you'll probably be back a bit quicker because there shouldn't be any faffing around trying to identify it and you'll know better how to rehab it.

    Hope you're back running soon.

Very sorry to hear that, really terrible luck.

Oh no B that's awful. I even had a can of San pelegrino for you ..... But I'm drinking it now cause why waste it. Mind yourself get better soon. :)

Very sorry to hear that tang. I copped who you were at mile two but decided against saying hello mid-race as I didn't want to disrupt your focus. Hung around at the finish to say hello but obviously didn't see you. Take it easy.

Ah, no. I passed you just as you pulled up to the side on the right, it wasn't hard to tell that you were in trouble :(

Brutal news B - but don't write your year off just yet, give it the usual day or so to settle and get it seen to. I've had recurring injuries in a previous life and used the lessons learned first time around to get them cleared up quicker.

    Keep the chin up

    Jaysus B, that's bad news.
Maybe early to write off the whole year, things aren't always as bad as they may seem at first. Have a rest and get some good professional advice. Maybe run it you somewhere in the not too distant.

Oh, B... Awful, so sorry to see you when we did, hopefully it's not as bad as you think.

Ouch. I know how tough you are so I knew it would be something significant when I saw you walking back. :( Hope it's not as bad as you fear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 743 ✭✭✭Ferris B

That's horrible B. You were looking super strong for the first few as we leap frogged each other. I was looking forward to a tussle with you ( in a running kind of way!). Then you were gone.

Hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,610 ✭✭✭yaboya1

    Unlucky B.
As some have already said, maybe you'll be back sooner than you think since you know what exactly the problem is.

    Best of luck with it.

Oh dear :( very sorry to read this. I'm sure you're in the pits right now and of course you are thinking of the worst case scenario, but try to remain positive. It might not be quite as bad as you fear.
    Keep us posted.

Really sorry to read that. Hope you're back soon.

Such bad luck B. You caught me by surprise with that shout out from the roadside. Was definitely not expecting to see you especially after seeing you had your race face on beforehand :-). Thanks for the shout out and I really hope the hip settles soon and you won't be out for as long as you think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭martyboy48

Balls...... Hope you're not out to long B, keep the faith...

Sorry to read about the injury. I hope you can get it seen to quickly and be back running sooner rather than later.

Fu**.. But let's not self diagnose. Get it seen to and take it from there. And if at all possible try and stay positive.
