Wow. That's all I can say.

Last night's episode was the most fantastic thing I have ever seen.

Leo hit the air in front of Terrance's face and suddenly Terrance had blood pouring out of his face.

Then he went and fell off a little cliff (not even a high cliff) foot first into pretty calm seas. There's no way he's dead.

    Leo is some rubbish actor.

:confused:Leo rubbish actor, yes, but by golly he is not the only one.

ànyone see the cover of the RTE guide recently with the fairly ****ty "actors" on the front cover in a real attempt at a CSI look..
I'd def do that Niamh one though, even if she is a ginger..:p
and I hate that we have to pay a licence fee for this and other sh1te that's on RTE... we need a station equivalent of BBC or Channel 4..
something with a flagship program of Irish speaking metal robots that travel the universe exterminating people and shagging them with their fetishistic sink plungers ! :D

If she doesn't stop all that frowning her face will be covered in wrinkles in a few years. You might get a fright if you see her naked because she wears them big overcoats and dresses for a reason.

She is a method actor. She knows at some stage she will have a baby some day in Fair City and like all soaps the pregnancy will go on for about 3 years at which time the baby comes out walking and talking.

Also does anyone else find it odd that every returning character to Fair City comes back with a new actor.

Leo's son hasn't aged a day, but he has got all the puck marks remove from his face!

See this is why Fair City is soooo ****ing brilliant :)

This thread has made me a fan.

Who ever Dalores and Harry's son was last time, he was not the origional actor, an if am not going nuts, wasnt this Floyd different too.
For someone who want to see it scrapped, think i know way too much about it already, that is a worry:eek:

It seem to me good actors just want to move away from this show. I am not saying that all of the actors who have been replace are good actors but its generally the case, with a few exceptions to the rule, e.g. Yvonne Doyle (not a great actress now but far better then before).

Dalores and Harry's son was actually a funny character before he was changed and the actor was good at the role.

The same goes for Floyd's sister who was replaces twice, the first 2 actress where good, the second one was very funny and the Third just horrible and nasty. The same goes for Floyd who's original actor has appear in a few things since and seems to be a good actor.

The Blizzard of Odd did a good segment on this a few years ago. They had a clip of Yvonne going around a corner and then coming back around the corner as look very different.

Tell me about it! I know way too much about all soap. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Speaking of Floyd's sister, Farrah, did anyone else think it was really weird that there was no sign of her at all around the time of Floyd's death and funeral.
She wasn't even mentioned, that she couldn't make it or whatever. Is she supposed to be dead as well or what, because down here in the boonies, funerals are sometimes delayed for over a week, while relatives travel from America/New Zealand/Sea of Tranquility or whatever far flung place they happen to be.

of course the show should be scrapped, its awful ! The acting, especially by the guy who plays Leo Dowling is possibly the worst to be seen anywhere in the world. Why do we pay our license fees for this ?

RTE will never scrap FC, because it makes them too much money. It's extreamely popular and companies pay a lot of money for advertising slots etc. FC probably finances more "credible" RTE productions on its own. Our licence fees go towards sh1te like "Failte towers" "Jigs and Reels" "The English class and that awful show that was on over christmas (Cant recall the name)

I personnally love the show. Its themost enjoyable soap I think. Its getting better all the time too! The Leo/Terrance storyline was great! Classic soap cheese!

All of those cheap shows make money that's why RTE produce them. I wouldn't say the Licence Fee is touched for much of RTE entertainment out put. RTE use the licence for Sport, News, Documentry, Religion, Education and Information programming.

Perhaps we should just stop watching them!

I've an idea - just don't watch the show if you don't like it.

i agree about no more personal attacks on actors, but as for not watching, i think the reason we do is because it is so bad it is good, i know it does not make sense, but if we are having a laf and a moan at a soap opera, its not so bad is it.
i must say i get more lafs out of the quotes on here. I still think, quote "Rita replaced by a bell, genius" quote, is my favourite.
shall we have a vote on it. I think that is the quote of the thread, what do you all think?

This is exactly what all soap opera is about. Knowing that their is dodgy acting and dodgy scripts but at the same time hating what the characters are doing on screen and actively getting involved in the plot :D

Not sure if your being sarcastic but Ros Na Rún is one of the better soaps.

I completely agree, Elmo. Corrie was my favourite for a long time, but it's in a distant third place these days behind the Irish two.

People always say soap acting is dodgy, but I think that's just the traditional thing to say when you don't follow soaps. It seems to me that a lot of the actors are excellent. Being that good four or five or to times a week must take real discipline as well.

I'm thinking of people like Shadrach and Lisa Dingle, or someone like Ray in Fair City. I never understand why more people don't talk about Barry too. He's been brilliant all this year.

I hope Fair City stays on the television - main reason is this. Two years I noticed that from 7:00 a.m. to at least 3:00 p.m. RTE 1's television programmes consisted of approximately 70% imported programmes - with the exception of the News, Weather, (Wednesday Dail Q & A), Telly Bingo and an afternoon show. The imported shows were the likes of Hi-de-Hi and Dallas (they're the two shows that I can remember - but there was loads of others).

I did ring up RTE to ask why my TV licence money was being used to buy in ancient shows - they said they were catering for the "maturer audience". At least Fair City is home produced. I've never watched Ros Na Run but I will now.
