A number of our Ireland u20 squad are back in camp this week in the build up to an International tournament in Verona with fixtures against France South Africa and England.

    The UCD men are:

    Conor O’Tighearnaigh

    Diarmuid Mangan

    Michael Moloney

    Fionn Gibbons

    Shane Mallon

    Dylan OGrady

James Culhane and Rory McGuire are likely to miss out due to injury but Ben Brownlee is on track to recover in time to join the squad shortly.

Jack Boyle will miss out also due to Leinster commitments.

    Still nothing on academy intakes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,816 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

There won't be for a while. Often it's after the 20s play the JWC. Obviously that's not being played by won't be until closer to when sides are back for pre season

Might be some news In few weeks time

That Ulster article finalising the squad for next season said Academy news would come in "due course" so hopefully soon enough. Usually once one team does it, the rest will follow; although I'd love to see the IRFU come out and announce them all independently (since they ultimately decide who gets the contracts, and are mad for pushing the NTS craic this last while).

Aren't the pools a little bit unbalanced? I mean the top 4 are all in pot 1!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,816 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Maybe but they get better quality of games and as its not a world championship then no issue.

Prendergast was behind Butler all through the 6N's - Why do you think he'd be starting ahead of him now?

Also - Where is Devine, is he injured?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

Ulster providing nearly no backs but most of the forwards. That’s a positive turn around.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Is that 40-45 players named this season, and only one produced by Connacht? Very disappointing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,355 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

That's a much changed squad! S.A France and England! Yikes, could be a tough outing this summer. How many are u19?

  • Registered Users Posts: 166 ✭✭ljsulster

    That was 3 months ago

For players at the age they are 3 months of development is huge. I just think prendergast offers more

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Locke_Lamora

    Postlethwaite injured or with sevens?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,355 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Good article in the 42. Murphy mentions the injuries and covid disruptions. It's a very green squad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,896 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Ireland will miss James Culhane a lot. Was the 6N player of the tournament and just incredibly athletic across the pitch.

Are these matches being streamed? Where can I watch them?
