finished 46-26 at half time to ireland.

some impressive backs on display, could have been wider margin if a few forwards passed.

Anyone know what happened in the u19s yesterday? Literally not a trace of what happened online, did it even take place?

How on earth did they manage such a capitulation in the second half, was anyone at it ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 92 ✭✭LRind2008

Decent inings for the u18s, France and Ireland clearly the two best teams in it followed by England, good to see.

Bit Leinster heavy. Is that based on the 18’s from the last two years?

Oji is a right wing no?

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

    Oji played 11 for 19s.

Might be leinster heavy, but outside of maybe 1 and 15 those leinster lads are clearly the best at their position IMO.

Munster have some good prospects too! The #8 for the u18's sticks out in my mind. I'm not sure if the u18's fullback is from Munster but, he looks to be a great talent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,423 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

I believe Wilson is qualified to play next year. He's an Ulster lad too. So, there's possibly 4 from this year available for next year.

    Hanlon - hooker, Ulster

    Wilson - tighthead, Ulster

    O'Tigheraigh - 2nd row, Leinster

    Mangan- 2nd row/ flanker, Leinster

I would guess they're going to be involved. I haven't seen any of the u19 matches yet. The u18's do have some lads that may get into the squad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

until confirmed otherwise Wilson and Hanlon are listed as not being eligible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

nearly all the 18s are still in school next season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 92 ✭✭LRind2008

ye think moloney at fullback might be one of the few to leave school

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

Moloney is leaving school this year yes, so will be an option, same with Sam Berman. Maybe Brian Gleeson too, but not many others.

  • Registered Users Posts: 188 ✭✭ljsulster

Zac Solomon (hooker) is is leaving schools this year.

scott Wilson played in the u19 interpros, so I assume he’s eligible again

  • Registered Users Posts: 812 ✭✭✭Hey boy

If Leinster had beat every other team 50 nil in the u19 inter pros you might have a point.

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

leinster routinely have the most starters in the irish u20 side.

it wont be any different next season.

No sign of either of the behemoth Belvedere locks? I thought both looked very good, the little I've seen of them.

Spicer was playing for the u18 schools and clubs side over the weekend.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,423 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Spicer played u20 this past week. Looks at good prospect. Rees is huge! He's got to be 120kgs and 6'6. I hope they get a good run and if they don't make it for Leinster, perhaps another province will sign them.

Interesting that Spicer played against a Leinster development squad and was on the winning team. Leinster's pack was obviously murdered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,886 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Steady on with the pro talk. Spicer didnt play under 20 this weekend. It was under 18. Size is handy but not everything. The leinster development team was 18s/19s schools and clubs players so you would expect an irish 18s team to win

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,423 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Right u 18! The development squad was obviously overmatched. Spicer does look a decent prospect.

some talk online that Fionn Gibbons will be joining Connacht.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 GURU NR 1

He is joining Munster, and going to UL,

    Shane Mallon is joining Connacht

Mallon to Connacht makes sense, he is from Leitrim after all.
