I see donegal is in an orange warning for wind, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought anything beyond a yellow warning has to be a named storm

Looks like they don't want to waste a name on poor old Donegal :)

Agreed. I'm out monitoring sheds and a caravan at the moment. The gusts are menacing.

Dare I say worse than Eunice, but night-time storms always sound worse.

Quite stormy here in Meath tonight, definite packing a more extended and louder punch than Eunice.

I have a feeling tomorrows storm could be more damaging than Eunice as it will affect all of Ireland and the strong gusts will last from now till early Monday morning.

Best of luck, it's hard going when you're trying to McGyver it. Was at it earlier.

Jaysus is it ever going to stop raining!

Basicially feels like it's been raining non stop since Tuesday, Got out for nice walk on Monday + really rest of week has been a write off.

    Horrible windy, wet, winter weather.

Why or why were people on her complaining about the calm weather it was brilliant!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,544 ✭✭✭highdef

And let's not forget that there are some regular posters here who basically asked for this weather as it was more "exciting" and that the beautifully calm, quiet, dry and settled extended spell of weather we had throughout January and into early February, when we could comfortably spend extended periods of time outdoors for a change...... Was boring!

Dreadful morning here in Kildare, seems worse than Eunice, I'm so sick of this weather, wind and rain, seems like it's been fairly relentless for about 3 weeks absolutely sickening.

Violent storm force 11 forecast for the north and north west coast. Seems this storm is going to be a whole lot worse than Eunice with a lot less hype from certain broadcasters.

Wild in Galway, akin to a Microburst. Power flicked off, now at half power.

What you say is true highdef. But while that spell was indeed lovely, my problem with it was that it was a]very unseasonable and b] in Ireland it was never going to last. Meaning that we could be in for a horrendous spring that could last god only knows how long which appears sadly to now be the case. Would we not all have preferred this weather in deep mid winter and that lovely weather from now on?

Granted you can't make any deals with weather and we must take it and enjoy it when we get it good but I'm just explaining why some people may have been uncomfortable with that unseasonably fine spell.

There’s always a ‘payback’ in Ireland isn’t there. Feb was always going to turn out like this after Jan.

A +NAO winter always means northern blocking in spring. A dry April and May generally means a wet summer to follow. A good September always follows a poor July and August. Cold anticyclonic weather in November always means an Azores mild winter to follow. This seems to be the general pattern to our climate practically every year.
