I know;that we are in spring now but might aswell post here aswell as looks like last night could have been coldest night yet!

For those of you waiting all season for the cold winter weather get out there + enjoy the cold + frost before the sun melts it!

Stunningly beautiful on our walk to school with sun coming up + cannot wait for my coastal walk later on, perfect day for it, not a whiff of a breeze.

In the UK the CET for February finished at 6.8 making it the warmest February since 2001 and one of the warmest on record. Ireland must be very similar. England had a colder January than we did due to more in the way of frost but it was still milder than average there. Overall Winter 2021/2022 has been exceptionally mild from start to finish throughout Ireland and the UK bar a few cool days here and there.

As for my local area I think the lowest temperature we had all winter was a pathetic -2C and only about 3 or 4 visible frosts the following morning. 3rd winter in a row with no measurable lying snow other than some transitional sugar coating. It's now Spring and I think already last night was colder than any night during the winter and a proper hard frost till about 11am.

Met winter statement out now and confirms that Winter 2021-22 was the 6th mildest winter on record in Ireland since 1900. Only 1942-43, 1974-75, 1988-89, 1997-98 and 2018-19 were milder.
