Reading between the lines I reckon he's somewhere northwest of Magherafelt, going on the coordinates of the location for the forecast soundings he posts (e.g. below). Not that we should actually care.

Surprised to see how low the temps are today despite the good, if wet, typically Irish looking winter sunshine. Doesn't feel that cold out, but that is probably down to the near calm conditions currently. This will not be the case tomorrow, however. Afternoon temperatures likely to be higher than today, but no doubt it will feel much colder as the stronger NW winds set in.

I was at Errigal this morning at 5am and there was only a very light dusting of snow.

Where I am now, I can see Slieve Snaght, Inishowen, alot more snow, same for Benevenagh too.

Well, the showers are actually breaking up here, just as well seeing as it's cold rain that's falling. If there is one thing I dislike more than mild rain, it's cold rain. It's such a waste. Damn you Atlantic modification. I wish I was in Donegal!

Sligo coast at pretty much sea level.
Had slushy cold rain all day.
But now, at 5 in the evening, the car is frozen ...there might yet be falling/lying snow down to our level during the night

this spell was never going to amount of anything away from high ground in Donegal and Northern Ireland. We need an easterly and unfortunately doesn't look we'll get one till maybe February or March if we're lucky.

Atlantic cold spells are modified too much most of the time and nearly always depend on being above 200 meters in the north-west of the country to see any lying snow that sticks around for more than a few hours.

The trend for this month is a cool first half of December but never really cold enough for snow in low lying areas at any point and then a return to the westerlies and mild for the second half of December.
