No comparison between foot and mouth and Covid.
    A moronic notion

    You raised it.
We shot the cattle in 2001 to prevent movement. Is that the way forward?

Great news to have the positivity rate getting under 4% for the first time in 2021. Had been as high as 24% in early January.

The more we vaccinate vulnerable groups, the higher case load we can manage also, given the chance of a case leading to hospitalisation will be gradually decreasing throughout the vaccine process.

'Expected' news you mean, we've been in a long lockdown, which does that. We would be much further along had the government not ignored advice when we were here before.

LOL, then who is it up to?

    Ok.
You believe it is up to the leaders of the two main parties to decide who is fit to govern in what has for decades been a de-facto two party State regardless of who the electorate votes for.
There is a term for that - democracy is not the term.

Not everything needs to be spun negatively. It's positive news for where we are at now.

The government made a mistake in December by pandering to what the public wanted, rather than what they needed, and made a poor decision as a result (although I think things wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad if people had stuck to the restrictions in place, particularly around household mixing, rather than visiting restaurants with friends and all that went on - topic for another time).

They appear to have thankfully learned from that mistake and making sure this thing is crushed in the community while we get vaccines out this time around.

Don't disrespect the sacrifices made by the public (some with their lives) by coming on a government thread trying to make the government look ;great' please. Thank you.

They have to own their own sh1t, blaming everyone else for the poor decisions of Government,

Where did I do that Francie? No need for lies to attempt to tar other posters you have a dislike for, not a very honest debate technique.

So its the publics fault the government ignored NPHET advice, just like the mother and baby homes and the last crash and on and on...
    Complete apologist waffle and spin.
Its not 'that' mistake, it's their' mistake. If it could be called a mistake. I'd call it incompetence, which they'll no doubt repeat.

The government caved into public pressure. If there was no appetite for a Christmas reopening in society then the government wouldn't have felt the need to do it. To claim this is some off the wall comment is just weird.

It is the government's fault, im simply posting about why they ended up making the error.

And still you can't help shifting the blame to the people.

Ok, let's put aside the fact it was you I was responding to who brought it up for a moment.

The comparison is still there where Bertie sat at and was heavily involved with the GFA, which the DUP never signed up for, and were always steadfast against it.

Is this the thread where someone mentioned precedents to things?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,461 ✭✭✭Bubbaclaus

    Sure Bubba, sure.

You always just descend to trying to tar the other poster, rather than having a genuine discussion. I never do the same to you in reverse, maybe take that into consideration.

I literally said its the governments fault in the post you quoted Francie. I don't know why you feel the need to lie.

But you couldn't say it without diluting it to responding to the people.

It read like the government were cajoled by the public.
The government decided to go against NPHET regulations in telling the public they could shop, socialise and gather.
The government carry out policy everyday regardless of popularity or the damage caused.
They need take ownership once in a while.

I never said that either despite your trying to infer something I said that I didn't.
It's up to the party's to decide, I'm sure most of them decide by parliamentary party meeting.
They're not all like sinn féin sending out directives from the leadership, whoever that is. perhaps that's why you got mixed up.

This poll is already out of date given what happened in Dublin City Centre this afternoon.

The effective cheerleading support from the likes of Holohan for Covid-deniers will not help SF in the longer run.

Holahan will be gone by Monday, him and Patrick O Donovan can protest till the cows come home then

He survived racism, homophobia and misogyny, which saw him get nominated for mayor.

A little bit of Covid denial and stoking protests won't stop him.

Hahaha its ok, have a beer.

To resort to that is typical

No he didn't. He's an idiot. You think anyone who criticises LV is racist and homophobic. Its like the boy who cried wolf. Takes away from legitimate people speaking up for minorities.
