If you take out the whole Saudi sportswashing aspect then this latest defection is just not good for professional golf at all. PGA Tour events outside of the majors will become less entertaining and Liv is simply impossible to watch. I think in future the turning point for the popularity and interest in professional golf in general will be directly linked to the creation of Liv

I don't think Rahm is a massive draw in the States in the same way that Spieth, McIlroy or Mickelson is, hence I don't think it'll bump up LIV's TV ratings to any significant degree. It's a shame that the tours are becoming more diluted though, only a matter of time before sponsors start asking serious questions.

Anyone watching the American Express on Sky? Lots of picture pixelation and audio dropout. Only happening on that channel. Spoiling the watch. Not the stream, happening during the ads too.

    Amateur leads the American Express

Yeah, happening all the time for me too, only Sky Golf. Might be a Virgin Media problem.

Dunlap the amateur with a 2 shot lead going down the 18th, great story if he wins

One shot at a time from here.

    Big screwup from Burns.

As it turns out it was only a one shot lead. The guy with the long name could win it yet, without a playoff.

Great up and down on the last

Can he take the cash? Something tells me he can't even if he decides he's going pro. Something about if you declare as an amateur you don't get it. I'm sure he'll turn pro now, he'll get nice sponsorship deals with a win under his belt.

1.5 mil for Bezuidenhout for finishing second, not too shabby

Doesn’t even get a single fedex cup point either to gain the benefits for the playoffs events

Macintyre finding tough on the oga tour since his move

Nice to see some lads from European Tour who got a pga card in contention

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,441 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Pavon has had a great start to Pga tour life considering he wasn't much more than a journeyman in Europe. Crazy to think if he wins here he'll have done what the likes of Monty and Fleetwood never have. It's interesting when you look at how much the likes of McIntyre are struggling since making the switch.

Thought he'd thrown it away there after the second shot on 18, great birdie in the end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭billy3sheets

Great finish with Pavon almost blowing it in the final hole but recovering brilliantly with 3rd shot and sinking the putt for birdie. Pushed all the way by Nikolai Hojgaard.

Good weekend for the Hojgaard boys with Rasmus second in the UAE too.

Not wanting to get into a LIV discussion, but the PGA is only a step away / not even above the DP World Tour now. Turned on last Sunday and the leaderboard had Matthieu Pavon and Nicolai Hojgaard and some completely anonymous US guys, Lashley, Knapp - never heard of them.

I know there are the signature events, but the standard Sunday or throwing on the golf and enjoying the final round is dead now with no names at all involved. LIV is killing the game slowly by taking the true stars off the stage. Golf is going to be dead from a TV perspective outside of the majors very soon unless LIV and the PGA find a way to get back the stars onto the mainstream TV.

I have no issue with life altering money getting guys to jump, but the product is unwatchable. And the PGA with all the no names or stories is also becoming unwatchable.

Schauffele, Cantlay, Morikawa, Homa, Im, Aberg, Day avd Finau were all in the field but failed to perform to a high enough level to win it.

It's one of those tournaments where a player on a great weekend wins because the course is very hard and if you don't have your best game you aren't winning.

Previous recent winners include Luke List, Leishman, Snedeker twice and Stallings.

Oh God, Sky going a bit far with the Pro-Am element having Damon Hill on commentary!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I love it, just this tournament and not any other Pro-Am.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye
