Had a chicken fillet roll yesterday. This thread must have been rubbing off on me as I kept seeing it.

4.40 for it in a centra. 4.60 if you go around the corner to spar. Total rip off for both.

Stopped going to Subway after they went all “woke”, and liberal, when they banned their sugar drinks.

You're hardly serious with this post are you?

Everything is evidence of wokeness and political correctness on boards. Doesn't matter what the topic.

Hard to do neatly If gluttons have asked for 5 salads or everything in subway

    Always in half.

Cutting it in half shouldn't even be a suggestion

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,509 ✭✭✭the_pen_turner

    Always in half.

why , what do you gain.

i hats it , all it does is weaken the roll and give opertunity for stuff to fall out.

This may be the first time in boards history that this line has been used correctly, but...

That would be an ecumenical matter.

I never request it but always say yes when they ask. I can see the benefits of both. One maintains the overall integrity of the sandwich, the other makes it easier to eat conveniently and in a civilised way.

Eating halves is easier to manage so half of it doesn’t end up all over the car.

how is it easier to eat if its cut in half. how is it more civalised. anytime the roll is cut in half you (or me maybe) end up with bits falling out on the ground on on top of me. doesnt happen when its not cut

Happens me far more when it’s not cut.

To your first question: because it's smaller therefore can be held more easily. Surprised I have to explain that.
Second question: Because each section is more contained and therefore looks less like a glutton pummeling the thing.
Final observation: I agreed with that, so not sure why you're bringing it up. That's why I said the benefit of not cutting it is that it allows you to maintain the integrity of the sandwich.

it maybe smaller but you have to take it completely out of the wrapper to only hold half of it.

im not worried about looking like a glutton. im on sites most days . getting it into me is my main goal

really. how does that happen.. are you taking all the wrapper off

In have to take the wrapper off to catch flakes of bread.

Fair point. Might depend on context. I prefer taking the whole wrapper off rather than having to keep fecking around with tearing the paper off or anything.

Looking more civilised isn't a huge priority for me either, which is why I can kind of go either way with the thing.

whats everyones opinion on cuting the roll in half

Cut in half is an absolute must, preferably with one half slightly smaller which you eat first and then know you have more than half left yet as you took into the second half. On the rare occasion you forget to ask and they don’t half it you then have to tear it in half to eat it and it’s just not the same.

As an aside I hope no one is partaking today, tuna rolls are a must today.

Never cut in half, roll the paper down as necessary and eat it like a man

Often the chicken used in deli's for chicken rolls is also used to fill cheap mattresses as it has a half life of several thousand years.

Personally I prefer a nice fresh roll buttered with some Tayto smokey bacon crips.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,857 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

    crips.

And then you go at it agin.

Can’t understand how people eat rolls like that. I like to spread the wrapper on the table and survey the roll, pick the smaller half first and tuck in.

Even when eating in the car I spread the wrapping on my knees and eat as above.

What if the roll has been cut so precisely each half is the exact same size?

    Blue screen of death?

Don’t be buying these rolls for myself but the last 2 days I had to get them for the young lad after sports events .
He’s a very basic eater so wanted a white roll with chicken fillet , nothing else not even butter . It was a large white roll but one cost 4 euro and in a different centra one was 4.20 .
Seemed like a lot to me for a basic chicken fillet roll , it seems entirely up to who’s serving you what’s keyed in . These delis are obviously where the money’s been made in these shops . Any thoughts ?
i remember in the store i worked in they upped the price of these rolls from 4.20 to 4.50 saying that it was due to an increase in the price of ingredients. But interestingly, the price of the fillet bought on its own did not change.

They most likely realised how dependent people were on these stupid rolls and therefore took advantage.

They're definitely going up in price. Some places now charging 80c just to add cheese to it. The five euro roll is nearly upon us.

There’s some places charging for taco sauce as a topping.
