You mean, didn’t swallow the lie. It amazes me how gullible SF supporters are.

    What was the lie?

Nobody knew what the make-up was going to be (Michael thought even on the Sunday that FF was going to hit 50 seats)

How the hell was it a 'lie'?

Didn't you look beyond the surface of this 'spin' when you were told to go forth and spread it?

Glad to hear the talks between FG and FF are progressing. Let's hope we get the Greens, the Social Democrats, the Labour Party, and a broad grouping of Independents to come on board as well. We need a national government as we face into an extraordinary period for the Republic.

This is an unprecedented global issue, Francis.

Some auld link from a regional radio station might satisfy yourself, but it ain't going to cut it when it comes to the 'bigger issues'. Heather is a wonderful TD and public representative btw. A good one.

    'Satisfy' what exactly?

Has she not 'cancelled' like they all should be doing?

Maybe the 'experts' think Leo and his retinue are immune?

I think Leo, Simon C, Heather H, and the folks are doing the best they can during this unprecedented global issue. Letting the experts in our wonderful public service advise them on a situation that is changing every hour.

I'm not sure there is anything more to say tbh.

The political landscape will be entirely changed once this is over. Lads trying to score points on sites like the Journal and Boards will seem almost twee.

Certainly seems a case nero fiddling while rome burns

Quickest and easist way is for SF/FFand FG come together and get it done,no more fcukin about....let it fall apart when the crisis is over,if necessary

Is that the latest press release? :)

One minister thinks it is wrong to go to the US while another thinks it fine.

More indecision and more faffing about.

Sounds very practical at this stage. A national government. Mary Lou can be Taoiseach for all I care.

The economic and societal impact of this cannot be underestimated. It will have ramifications for many years.

SF have no interest in government now.

Austerity is back with the Coronavirus.

Are you the official press officer for SF?

    Nope.

As I said in another thread we have increased public spending by 13bn since 2016. Totally unstainable.

The country is finished. SF won't want power any time soon.

I would be suprised if we can get away without having a shutdown similar to italy, for such a shutdown to happen will require everyone onboard

Not since WW2 has the state faced such an emergency....its widely believed that schools are to close from monday on

Simon Coveney on Newstalk this morning when asked about halting flights to and from Italy was utterly abject in tugging the forelock talking about our EU membership and freedom of movement. A pitiful performance.

SF would love that. More time on the opposition benches slinging mud instead of delivering leadership. They’ll say they were excluded by the ‘big boys’ in an attempt to fuel more support for the next election. Cop out.

You would have to say though as a perfectly executed 'clinging on to power, by reneging on selective promises to your electorates' stunt that it is being beautifully choreographed by the PR depts. :)

How does a €50 euro reduction in the pension and dole sound to people?

    Is that all?
Well if people cannot socialise they don't need as much money...

    Going to be very interesting

FF and FG proving the old adage, never waste a perfectly good crisis.

It will be a lot more than that.

We are looking at the banks all collapsing. Bond holders (which FF FG SF voted for in the EU parliament) to get paid 70%.

We are looking at an extra 40billion+ on the national debt.

This isn't a political issue. This is a societal issue. Louise O'Reilly might be a better Minister of Health than Simon Harris. We all need to come together at this stage.

would coming together include suspension of online hostilities?

    I doubt it.

    no surrender, etc

Maybe if Leo could get over his huff and stop trying to politicise the virus and the threat it poses, it might help.

So the people who were giving out about FG not going into government are now of course giving out that they may go into government with FF and probably the Greens.

Ye just like giving out, dont ye?

Why would I or anyone else be 'giving' out about something I or we knew they'd do if faced with losing power altogether.

I also dont honestly know why you have 118 posts in a thread titled, "FG to just do nothing for the next 5 years" :):o

FFG cant have another election , they would lose more seats. They are ****ed both ways, this next few years, for whoever leads, is going to be problematic. the national broadband plan should be pulled in my opinion...

So FFG now lead or lose more seats OR they go into power, things will get worse on all fronts in my prediction and they look at destruction next election. Because they would actually have to change things and hurt their own interests and some of the electorate, which they havent wanted to do thus far. This is a mind blowing time in politics. We are in the middle of a "boom" and you could look at cuts having to be made, who knows if this will even turn into a recession ...

appalling economic mismanagement here, for decades. Its why I wasnt scared voting for SF, FFG talking about the "economy" etc, is comedy!

What legacy have these clowns left after two booms and decades in power? a decent motorway network and world class welfare! Everything else is getting worse!
