I’m also a parent of a similar child although he’s much younger. My theory is that she was looking for something and became disorientated very quickly once she got outside in the dark.

It’s horribly sad and tortuous for her family.

Is it realistic she left through an open window though? I believe the door to the apartment was locked. That straight away presents an additional challenge and given her limited physical capacity outlined by the parents, it makes it even less likely.
Also, if she did leave of her own accord, how likely would it be that she chose a route that ensured she was never seen by anyone over the course of a number of days?

I’m reminded of the witch doctor character that arrived on the scene a number of days into the search who stated that spirits had taken her and a payment would set her free- or words to that affect-and sure enough a day later her body was found- i think the locals are speaking in riddles and they know a lot more than they’re letting on.

I think these types of people always come out the woodwork when a person is missing. Opportunists

There was an almost full length window ( bottom about a foot off floor) that opened off kitchen. It was open the following morning. And the site was pitch black.

The front door was also unlocked so it's as likely she just let herself out that way as through the window.

Regarding her feet, the 2nd coroner, the one that carried out the post mortem in the UK, told the inquest that there were considerable deep lacerations to the soles of her feet.

Also during the inquest the parent both said they heard muffled voices from inside their apartment during the night, but they went back to sleep.

The bare feet would not surprise me, it can be a sensory issue. My daughter takes her shoes & socks off every chance she gets. Maybe she injured them walking around with no shoes on

    That's pretty shocking.

Was it muffled voices or a muffled sound? Id always thought it was the latter which may well have been the sound of her leaving the room. Youd also think if they both heard voices then they would have asked each other if they heard it and then gotten up to check. They would have been fairly tired and jet lagged having just flown into Malaysia but being woken up and hearing voices in the night would be pretty startling for anyone.

I was working abroad one time and a few of us were living in a house. I was there one weekend on my own and could swear there was someone coming up the stairs. Turned out it was next door, I was new in the house and didn't know when they went up their stair you'd swear someone was in our house. I can tell you, ya don't just go back to sleep, serious adrenaline dump.

    .

So why was there so much talk about an unlocked window throughout the case? If the front door was open, then anyone could have just walked in or likewise, she could have just walked out.

I believe they both told the inquest it was definitely voices. All a bit vague as they also say they were only semi conscious at the time so didn't react yet still remember it clearly.

It seemed to be just what they focused on, perhaps because it was faulty and a possible point of entry for an abductor. It was stated that she could have also left via the door.

Had they perhaps thought in their jet-lagged state that the voice sounds were their kids chattering a bit on the night?

I'd say sleep deprivation was behind the parents' reactiveness and the perpetrators(s) took advantage of this.

Has anyone ever seen a layout of the apartment/villa they were staying in? I seem to recall the children were sleeping in a room together upstairs on a mezzanine level accessed by a spiral staircase. The parents were sleeping in a downstairs bedroom. I might be completely wrong but if that is the case how would a kidnapper manager to carry her down the stairs without waking the house.

Again I am open to correction on this.

In fairness, probably a lot easier than a child coming down the stairs and not waking the house.
Not that that's what I believed happened but I do have kids and a stairs.

The poster in question was a retired solicitor.

Now I've no idea what the content of the posts were but you would have to wonder what sort of place we live in where a retired solicitor, so someone with at least half a brain, would post something on a public platform that would result in a defamation case being brought by a dead girls family.

    Yeah that's true.

But this anonymous posting gives us a certain amount of leeway.

Some of the s**t I have posted in the last 13 years I'd stand by, some of it I wouldn't.

And it also allows us not to be taken seriously, and not to take some of the rubbish posted here seriously.

Posting publicly on something as prolific as Facebook is different.
