That knee deep stuff would have been at sea level if it was less marginal :(

I know! But the GFS said it so I knew I had to at least hike to the hills ;)

Most places dry and clear but just went out the back there and the ground is white (Castlebar) following a small shower, reflected in the warning update

    Class photos Villain!

Roughly what altitude was the snow line on Lug?

From below Ballineddan, so about 300m

Just watching those. North Mayo might do ok from them. A few beefy looking ones too.

Despite the offshore wind, looks like some Irish Sea showers may brush the east coast later?

After a quick glance at the Hirlam, the 925 and 700 hPa winds have a slight NNE direction to them for the next few hours, so a clipping is possible. Agree with Snowbiee21 it's unlikely though.

Had about 1cm of fresh snow here tonight, wasn't expecting anything so nice surprise :) Looks like that might be our lot for this spell though some heavy showers off the NW coast so might catch a rogue one later

Perfect snow conditions here in south dublin. Can see it on the mountains from here if I can be bothered looking, but don’t have to deal with the fact of the whyte shyte.

Bitter cold out here. Finger breaking cold

Yesterday when the clouds cleared, the mountains emerged in bright sun and utter white glory. I found a sunny corner, wrapped up and sat out a while, just gazing rapt. Brings tears and joy it does. WISH I could take photos but have imprinted it in my memory. Every contour and fold and crease, highlighted in pure icy white
And so grateful to all here who have given joy by their sharings.. means so much.... thank you

Just wish it would ease off the cold a while,,

Gurteen is -3.9 at 7 am. Casement -3.6. Dublin Airport got down to -3.6 before 6 am but is at -3.1 now.

The showers along Atlantic coasts are all being reported as rain, except for Sligo Airport, which reports sleet.

Usual story, when conditions are right, the precipitation is not there. Light snow here now.

A perfect summation of the frustration of being an Irish snow hunter - when it's cold enough, there's not enough precipitation, when there's precipitation, it usually comes with air that is too mild............

Drove up the mountains today past Glencullen and Roundwood. You could see traces of snow left as low as 150m but very clear that the snow line started around 200m.

Still lots left above that level, really decent amounts in fields, and the mountains themselves a winter wonderland still. But not on the road as far as I went.

Turned round at 350m ASL for fear of getting stuck. RWD.

Sryan, looks like you were over Glencree direction? Probably 100m higher again.
