Christmas day 2009! Certainly here in Cork it turned my estate, and any estate with hills, into a pop up ice rink. Absolutely lethal. You couldn't even walk outside.

Same in Galway in 2009. Never saw anything quite like it.
I have decent ice driving skills and the country roads were drive-able despite the snow/ice but the shower of freezing rain ended that abruptly. I couldn't even get up a slight incline around 40m from my house. Lethal is not the word.

Lunch time walk on croghan, Wexford Wicklow boarder.
    .......

Looks like good skiing conditions there on Croghan!

Lovely bright day in Tipp. Still traces of snow in the shadows. More up on the hills.

    Snow-Cap-pan.jpg

This could well be my last snow photo for the year.

Nice photos, but it's a tad frustrating not knowing where in the country we're look at (tried in vein to zoom in on the road sign).

    Edit
Was wrecking my head so I looked back at a previous post of yours, I’m assuming it’s North Cork?

Yeah same in Waterford, started raining while it was -3c. I gave up on ever seeing a white Christmas after that!

Today in cork city is one of my favourite winter days. Blue sky, bitterly cold and dry. I only like winter if it's snowing or like today with the blue sky and cold. Grey skies and cold, nope, rain and cold, nope,.warm and sunny nope and grey and warm nope.

So Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday have been perfect winter days here so far for me. Everything else before that and Thursday has been awful.

Bitterly, bitterly cold in Cork City this afternoon.
The coldest I remember it being since Storm Emma 2018.

Well I got my snow fix today! Lugnaquilla was bloody tough today, deep deep snow make hiking tricky and tiring but the views were amazing:

From the top of Two Rock (Fairy Castle) looking towards the Sugar Loaf this afternoon, knee deep snow in places and the wind chill would make an eskimo cry ;)

I'll try to get some more up when my hands finally thaw out...

That knee deep stuff would have been at sea level if it was less marginal :(
