Cheers guys. Started watching Dirty Harry Magnum Force and then the indestructible Wi-Fi went. Visiting time is on!

Try Sledgehammer! for a light hearted depiction of Dirty Harry :D

    Or maybe the following films:
    The Burglars
    Blazing Magnum

    Or maybe more cars!
    Original Gone in 60 seconds
    Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry

And most importantly, get well soon!

Same 313hp engine as in the 535d, although the extra weight of the bigger 6 makes it a tad slower. How did it handle compared to the 5 bazz? Bit more barge like I'd guess?

Didn't really get to open it up as I was in an industrial estate but the advantage of the extra turbo at lower speeds was certainly noticeable. Definitely a more awkward car to park and the turn circle was bigger than the 5. 20" rims were still surprisingly comfortable. A nice car overall.

Are you allowed overtake on a road which is being resurfaced and has no Road markings on it?

Right folks I'm in need for suggestions. I'm stuck in hospital the past few days and no idea when I'll be out. The Wi-Fi is good hence I'm looking for some good movie films which I can watch to pass the time. Bonus points for a great car chase. Already done Bullitt so that's off the menu.

If it is safe to do so then yes. A road without markings is treated as a road with a broken white line.

Gardai said othwise. A mates mother went to overtake a large tractor and tanker yesterday on a road with no markings, only for him to turn right and plough into the side of her. Destroyed the car. Garda reckoned she shouldn't have overtook, which I thought was pure ****e....

"Garda reckons" is not a law though, the Gardai don't make the law or decide what means what, they just apply the law as it is written.

    Were they indicating?

I know of a friend who had a similar crash but they were driving the tractor. They weren't indicating and turned into the path of an over taking car. Completely their fault.

Important part bolded. If he turned into the side of her vehicle, then the overtaking vehicle had already mostly completed the overtake and therefore had right of way. Tractors fault for not checking surroundings before manoeuvring.

You've so big a library of movies to watch, you won't be in any hurry to leave hospital.

    Nothing too serious I hope.

Had a tractor pull out of a side road before in front of my friends car.

Friend hit the bale carrier and pulled the engine and gearbox out of the car (write off).

When the farmer came over to ask was he okay my friend asked him what he was at.

His answer was "Sure didn't I indicate".

No injuries and the farmers insurance paid out.

Was more the wing and bumper that got it. Indicators weren't working on the tractor.

Why is it these days drivers still feel the need to have a phone stuck to their ear? If there's not Bluetooth built in,then it's only about a tenner for an earpiece.
Yesterday a major accident was avoided by literally seconds.
A guy in a recovery truck with phone to his ear and speeding in a 50kph zone hit the kerb and bounced across the road and missed an oncoming 4x4 by inches,he continued on still speeding seemingly oblivious to the carnage he narrowly avoided.
I was sitting at a junction and witnessed all this and was bracing myself for the impact.

    Rant over.

Watched a FedEx driver on M50 last weeks as well weaving in and out between lanes 1 and 3...had his phone on the steering wheel. He pulled onto slip behind me to head off to old airport road and the whole way he was either talking with the phone up to his ear or had the phone on the wheel laughing at videos or photos. For a supposed professional driver it's a disgrace.

    Report.

The FedEx guys do come out through estates in a convoy and cut up everyone on yellow road right beside Collins avenue daily.

    Muppets.

Shocking they get away with it.

Going to look at a Yaris Hybrid tomorrow for the wife. It's advertised at €12K at a Toyota dealer. Now I've never spent more than €2k on a car before so I'm wondering, in terms of haggling, where I should start. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

€11k off it would be some feat of negotiation

I can be very persuasive! Just kidding, car is advertised for €12K and would be hoping to pay €11k max

I doubt the dealer will have too much trouble shifting a Yaris like that, I wouldn't be surprised if your offer is considered a bit on the low side. Now, this is one of those questions that there's no definite answer until you ask... so worth a shot, but don't get the hopes too high is all I'll say.
