Their accents or their vocabulary, presumably. That’s what they’ll realistically go on. The same people running the members of these groups into ground based on these factors would be the exact same ones crying foul, ironically, if they were stereotyped or written off in another situation. But that’s the way of it these days. Mental gymnastics to defend the indefensible and deflect.

Saw it on the Lidl Tallaght thread, people taking umbrage at posters calling the perpetrators scum and vermin because it’s dehumanising rather than lambasting the filth responsible.

Saw it on the Tommy Robinson thread last night, ignoring the tramps attacking people in Hyde Park with sticks but instead focusing on Tommy apparently looking smug.

It’s the same people time and time again looking to shift blame, you can almost do a bingo list of who’ll thank the posts.

I had a fair feeling thats what they would reply with. Its a pathetic mindset. None of them with enough of a spine to state that is why they perceive them as shady or thuggish.

    Its a pathetic mindset.

Do you know what else is pathetic and ridiculous in equal parts? The fact some of the commentators in here think the people operating the decoy accounts are creepier or worse than pedo predators. That’s actually been said. Mind boggling.

I wonder how they'd feel, if, after the decoys caught and had someone arrested, the Gardai contacted them as their child had also been in contact with the paedo and wanted to have a chat with them, and the decoy being there had saved them i.e. agreed to meet up before their child.

Would it be creepy that their kid was saved from CSA and a lifetime of carrying that trauma with them.

The other marvelous high ground taken was when some posters said the only reason the hunters are operating decoy accounts is because they’re probably pedos themselves. So you’ve got actual pedophiles and then you’ve got people who you think might be (although, let’s face it, it’s absolutely and utterly baseless) pedophiles and you think the latter is somehow worse?!! Phenomenal logic.

I feel sorry for his family, but for the man himself I am delighted with the sentence for this scumbag. It's a pity that if it were here, he would barely get a warning.

Really? A certain well known journalist in this country got two and a half years recently for something similar. And the "flog him and burn him" brigade were outraged by the leniency of that one too.

I think people get high on outrage. In fact, in these days of instant access to websites with beachball boobs and flagpole phalluses in mutual interaction, it seems to me that outrage is the new titillation of the mainstream masses.

Here. This is a dramatisation of something that really happened in Portugal 250 years ago.

    Treat yourself.

Go on with your know-it-all rhetoric. Actually it's because they conceal their full names and cover their faces as I mentioned earlier and as Ian Doherty alluded to on the Pat Kenny show. Go ahead and amuse me with reasons they would do that if it were not to conceal their own history. I would be lying if after seeing Phil on the show that I didn't form a negative opinion about him because of his appearance, accent and especially his aggressive demeanor but that negative opinion was there already before I ever set eyes on him based on what I had read about the live streaming.

Of course that is all irrelevant as far as this thread is concerned because I'm sure If I had evidence that all those in all the various groups were in fact ex-cons it wouldn't make a jot of difference to their supporters here.

I can't believe people would hold up that 'Phil' person as some sort of a hero. He was like an inarticulate, aggressive chav straight off the Jeremy Kyle Show. His aggression was there for everyone to see when Ian O'Doherty tackled him repeatedly. It looked like he was going to swing for Ian a few times during the interview : absolute rage that anyone would dare criticise or question him.

Are insults the only thing you have left?

I have a certain view on Ian O'Doherty and Phil was no match for him - it came down to articulation.

But I can tell you one thing for sure - I know who the better man is and it certainly is not Ian O'Doherty

You disagree that he was very aggressive and inarticulate? They can only be insults if they are factually incorrect.

Seems the 'paedophile vigilante' gangs are completely out of control in Northern Ireland. This recent article lists numerous criminal acts by them : identifying the wrong suspects and streaming it live on Facebook, arson attacks on houses where innocent people live, beating up people in the street and strong links between group members and Loyalist paramilitaries

Interesting reading. Just shows you the type of people that get involved in these vigilante groups.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are groups down here using it as a front for criminal activity - after all if you criticise these paedo-hunting groups you're in favour of paedophiles - right?

Of course they are catching them. Difference is the cops aren't live streaming the crap out of their operations for the likes. Ultimately, in the long term, these streaming tactics do more harm than good.

How do you know they were not on the radar of law enforcement already? Probably plenty who were on the radar who have now fallen off thanks to Phil and his mates. Ordinary people giving up their "free time"....please. The absolute dole hounds have plenty of time on their hands.

You sound like a right snob, was Phils accent too working class for you or what?
