Run the crossepg downloader plugin to repopulate the epg.

Thanks, that is a big help

UK Channels seem to be back now

Only seem to be missing info for 3 and 3e and I can live without them

Do I now need the box to be permanently hooked up to the internet for the cross epg info to work?
Any ideas why the old default method stopped working?

Your machine is probably set up to run the crossepg plugin once a day, if you hadn't have run it manually it would have run automatically at some point. It's normally set up to run early in the morning. The box doesn't need to be connected to the internet, it reads the data from the satellite signal from what I've been told.

    Cool, thanks

That should work fine so :)

i would consider any box that has a lan port to have it connected to internet, maybe you want your weather forcast on box and other things?

The biggest advantage of having an enigma box connected to your network is the ability to control it and stream live/recordings to other devices around your home. Obviously with web access it can also get web content and update it's software online.

Thanks, great site....I have been using a Hypersion image, haven't updated in well over a year so it will be good to compare.

I was a big fan of Hyperion for years. These days I find openATV is streets ahead in features and performance. I particularly like the comprehensive backup/restore and updating features. I'm using version 6.1 on a few different makes without issue. There is a newer version 6.2 but I find it has a few snags still

A word of thanks to everyone in the Formuler 1 threads and this forum, you are a mine of information and very helpful to those of us with less knowledge

Getting this up and running has made a huge difference to our viewing habits and justifies the decision to both pay for this box and not pay a subscription for TV

With that being said I have one final niggle bothering me, is there a way to get the box to auto shutdown after a period of inactivity, I generally remember to turn the box off a night but I am sure there is a method to do this automatically but I am not seeing it anywhere in the menus

My box takes about 5 mins to boot up and works perfectly. Have open atv image. Is there any way to make it quicker? Presume I have some booting sequence enabled incorrectly

I just leave my E2 box in standby, ie hitting power button.

Dont know how the deep standby is configured on the F1s, but you could try to see if its any quicker than turning the box off. Menu, Standby/Restart, Deep standby. Normally it equates to the equivelant of power it off in terms of bootup, but scheduled recordings will come out of deep standby.

Dont forget that you can configure the HDMI CEC to put the box in standby and turn off the TV by configuring the HDMI CEC in menu settings.

As STB says, deep standby effectively shuts the box down. It will record timers but more or less reboots to start up again. Personally I've never seen the point of shutting down. What little difference in power use of a year is minimal. I got that habit from the Amiko Alien which didn't always restart from standby.

5 Mins sounds like a lot to boot up. My F1 takes ~60 seconds ('with the power of Vanquis') :D
Do you have a lot of plugins installed?

Yes and run the exe. Its a driver for windows to mount it as a drive.

Anyone have an opinion on the Formuler F1 versus the Tiviar Alpha+ ?

I like the idea of the Tiviar, built in HDD making it neater and more reliable, however I'm worried that no one here on boards seems to have bought one and if their would be any support and help if I bought the Tiviar

    Thanks

Thanks STB I found an easier way by accident using Formuler F1-openwebif.

openvix supports the tiviar does it not?

    It does as does OpenAtv,

Has anybody managed to get the box to respond to a universal remote?

Two small issues I'm having , I notice the box turns one every day by itself around 11.00am which I think is the same time the EPG is set to update daily 11.22 and also my blacks get a strange blue sheen to them , almost like an electric shock effect, I'm running the willow build at the moment, any ideas anyone ?

Here's some rough grabs of an F1 using openATV with the "Valiflex HD " skin.
Not great quality but hopefully enough to give you a vague idea.

Thanks to the feedback on this thread, I've had my Formuler F1 since the start of the year, and so far have been loving it. However, the timer function has stopped working. I get the following error:

No tuner is available for recording a timer!
The following methods of freeing a tuner were tried without success:
The TV was switched to the recording service!

I had the station I was trying to record on at the time. Instant record is not working either. I haven't knowingly changed any settings, although it did only start after I was without electricity for 18 or so hours during Storm Emma last week. Perhaps it is unrelated.

    Any ideas?

To check that the tuners are working and getting a signal
    MENU>SETUP>SERVICE SEARCHING>SIGNAL FINDER>
Use left-right buttons to select either tuner. Both should have the same readings.

Here's another grab of the quick finder on openATV.

Thank you Gerry, you are a fount of knowledge! I'll give this a go when I get home. I can watch all channels with no issues, but the box just won't record them.

Have a few questions I didnt see answers for:
    1. Will this take an external 3.5 HDD? I have one lying around but would need to get an enclosure.
    2. Any facility to do remote recording?
    3. If IPTV is configured using OpenATV plugin, will pause, rewind and record work on IPTV? Probably not but figured I’d ask.

    1. A 3.5 inch would almost definitely need it's own power supply. I have 2.5" happily running just on USB.
    2. One of the plugins is called WEBIF. You access it from any web browser on your network. From it you have virtually the same control as directly with the remote. You can also stream live or recorded shows. It is possible to set up a noip address or similar for external access if you are up to speed with such things.

Great thanks. Ya 3.5 would definitely need power supply, bit of a pain but it’s lying around.

    Cheers for that

Here's a quick grab of WEBIF. You can control things like timers and channels lists. To the left of each channel name you can access it's full 7 day EPG. Clicking the TV icon allows you to view that channel. Clicking the actual channel name, zaps the box to that channel.
It does lots more too. Simply enter the box's network address into any browser in your home. A great bit of kit :)
